Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

The main bed will be a queen, with space underneath for storage and the Murphy bed should be a double.

Will this be true for ALL rooms?? If so I guess my Pop days are over unless I'm going solo. I usually travel with my daughter & granddaughter and pay half of everything. Paying half, want my own bed not a murphy/pull down, lol.

I haven't read all 348 pages so maybe this was answered already:
It is my understanding there are not coffee makers in the room. Can one be requested from housekeeping? If not, what coffee solutions have people come up with for a single parent with two children that NEEDS coffee to function and get them out the door? Asking for a friend.

There are rumors that there will be coffee pots in the refurbished rooms at Pop Century, but until those rooms are ready for guests we won't know for sure. Plus, depending on when your trip is, your chances of getting a refurbished room are slim.

My son and his wife have a similar coffee maker to the one that was linked in ItsLayne's post that they take to Disney when staying in a Value resort. It's not very big and it was ~$10 so if they don't have room in their luggage to bring it home after their WDW stay, it's not a big deal -- they'd just leave it there. They've used it on 3 visits so far so it was well worth the investment. They do also buy the refillable mugs, but often don't feel like walking all the way to the food court to get their coffee first thing in the morning.

Why would your Pop days be over? There are currently 2 double beds in those rooms and the renovated rooms will have a *queen* and a double so it's actually more sleeping space (by a few inches). It's not the type of murphy bed that's at the Moderate and Deluxe resorts. It's the kind that is in the suites at AoA. It's a double bed with an 8" mattress and very comfortable. It's a normal mattress on a platform rather than a box spring and it's super easy to open/pull down -- you can literally do it with one hand (actually 1 finger if you want to). You can leave a note for mousekeeping to leave the bed open as well. If the new mattresses at Pop are anything like the ones at AoA, I'd choose the double bed over the queen as the queen mattress is way too firm for me.

I have heard that the Murphy beds at AoA are very comfortable! You may wish to wait on your decision until we get some feedback from those staying at Pop. It would be a shame for you to spend additional money if you don't need to.

I wonder why people who are used to having two full beds at Pop are suddenly concerned about having a queen and a full? If the issue is lack of a table when both beds are down, I get that. But I've seen several posts with people saying they don't want to have to sleep in a full while their kids get a queen, etc. Weren't they always sleeping in a full anyways?

In any case, hoping to enjoy the brief period of renovated rooms without renovated prices for the next 2 trips (10/17 and 11/18)!

I've questioned the same thing. It seems some are concerned about the lack of a table which makes a lot of sense if you're a family that uses the table.

I believe the question about the Murphy bed might come from thinking the mattress would be sub-par to a normal bed. Everything I've read says that the Murphy bed mattresses will be very comfortable.

I'm excited to give the new room configuration a try!!

I'm excited about a queen and a double! It will be a bonus for my family of four. :)

Has anyone doe Hoop-Dee-Do while staying at Pop? I think we'll take the bus from MK to HDDR, but I'm wondering what the best way is to return to Pop. We're doing the third show so the parks will be closed when we're done. Should we take an Uber from FW? (I'm not opposed to that at all), or ride back to TTC? Or do they have busses to the different resorts at the end of each show?

I've also wondered the same thing. No question the top concern, and a vary valid one, is the fact that you lose the table when you have the Murphy bed down. I think a lot of people don't understand what a Murphy bed is, or have had a bad experience with them in the past. Obviously, we don't know what they are like yet, but if they are similar to what AoA has, they ar very comfortable from what I have read. I do remember one poster, prefered two full beds because a queen/full isn't fair because it means that someone ends up with a "better" bed.

And what some people might not be considering is that the double/murphy bed might be the *better* bed! :D Like I've mentioned before, when staying at AoA, I find the queen bed to be much too firm. I'd much rather sleep on the murphy bed as it's way more comfortable for me. But my desire to have a private bedroom trumps comfort...and I quickly figured out a way to make the queen bed comfortable for me.

I can get this too, but from where I'm sitting, I always found it annoying to be in a room where someone is sitting and someone else is up, with the lights on doing other things. I'm in the mind to try and rest, but never the first to go out because I don't want others to feel obligated to sleep too. But I have no problem sitting on the bed with my laptop chatting or doing what not. But I can see where people would be bummed of losing the table top for a place to store things. It was where my brother and I would do all our pin sorting last year. So normally our pins and garbage colloected on it. I'm looking forward to more space, and a bigger bed, for my friends that is.

Of course! Didn't realize you could just leave the bed down if you wanted. Not concerned about having a table at all. I was probably just remembering murphy bed at a cheaper off site resort once that wasn't all that bad but not preferable.
Pop is my absolute favorite resort and have stayed there more times than I can count, lol. I won't give up on them.

I would take the boat from MK to HDDR because the boat dock is close to HDDR. If you take a bus, you'll have to use the internal busses at Ft. Wilderness to get to HDDR. I don't know how to get you back to Pop from Ft. Wilderness after park hours. You could take the internal bus & go to the front of Ft. Wilderness, then call a cab or Uber...

I thought I remembered reading somewhere on a message board that if the last show of HDDR ended after MK had closed (or after transportation was finished -- it runs for at least an hour after park closing) that there were buses that ran from FW to other resorts. Basically one bus went to the MK resorts; one the EP resorts; etc. It wasn't direct to any specific resort. At worst, you should be able to take a bus from FW to DS and then transfer to a resort bus. That's a slow tedious process (we've done it to get back to our resort after Illuminations cruises) but it's free. :)

We did this. 3rd Show. Stayed at POP.

We took Disney transportation due to the unlimited beer :drinking1

POP, bus to MK, boat to FW took well over 1.5 suggested hours. Cut it very close so give yourself time.

Our problem was they weren't leaving MK until boat was full then suddenly wanted to move us to bigger boat, so moved and then waited for it to fill. UGH.

After third show came outside to about 3 buses, all set up for groupings of certain resorts. CM to direct us to our bus.

POP was first drop, yeah! but it was a breeze.

In January 2014 buses were waiting at the Settlement Depot (near Pioneer Hall where HDDR takes place) to take people back to their hotels after HDDR. We were staying at BWV.

Yes usually $5 a day. I leave it at the foot of the bed. I have also made envelopes to put the tip in that had a Disney graphic and said "Mousekeeping" on the outside.

We left $5 per day. There was only 2 of us, and we really only slept & showered in the room and left it pretty clean :) I also made little cards to leave with my tips so there was no doubt that they were for the mousekeepers. She left us thak you notes :) I saved them, they were pretty sweet!
