Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

I'm really excited about my 1st stay at Pop Century for the DIS 20th. I think I'm as excited to try Pop as I was to stay at BC last year and it's a lot less $$$. The rooms look really cute and if I like it I could afford to go a lot more often, even though I did get a really good deal last year.

The one thing I'm still on the fence about is if I should stick with using DME and the buses, or if I should rent a car? Car rates for the 5 days right now are running around $115 all in. I've always had a car in the past, so I'm a little nervous about relying solely on Disney transportation. How are the buses from Pop during a busier week?
Personally, I prefer to let WDW do the driving. Too many tourists driving and don't know where they're going, suddenly swerving across 3 lanes because they just realized their exit is on the other side! So many accidents on WDW roads.
I like having DME take me to & from airport, not having to drag my luggage into airport and wait on luggage drop off, or having to pick up My luggage and drag it thur resort to room.

Also if I want to enjoy that margarita at Epcot or Grey Goose slush I can without having to worry about driving :drinking:

I would recommend having the rental car. I was glad a I had a car at the Mega Meet because the mini meets were all over property so it made it easy to get from one to the other.

Hoping someone with experience can help me out (or point me to the thread if there is one.) Staying at Pop this fall with some friends, and they are super excited once-in-a-lifetime type trippers. (We are "Pop is my second home" AP type visitors, everything is super chill, for contrast.)

Friends would like to decorate door/window. Is there a list of ideas, guidelines, what's allowed, etc? They are crafty types so I just need to give them parameters and let them loose... We've seen them but never done them so I don't know the parameters.

TIA!

I have gone to two MNSSHP and stayed at the POP and Art. Have seen a number of windows decorated with window art and lights. No pumpkins outside or anything.

Awesome, thanks!! And Google is telling doors are metal - so magnets will work? Is that correct?

Yes, the doors are metal. We used one of the dry erase boards this past trip with the magnets on the back and it had no trouble staying in place. :) We also decorate, we love doing our window for Halloween!

What would be the closest store to Pop Century? To run over and get water, snacks, etc? Or maybe stop on the way from the airport. Does not need to be a full-on grocery store, but something convenient with a decent selection of items. Thanks!!

Thank you!!!

The closest is probably Goodings (is it still open?) unless you count the Speedway - but IMO I'd plan on swinging through a Publix on the way from the airport.

I would recommend stopping at Target. There are two off of 192 one past property and one before.

Since the new discounts did not save me more than the QS summer meal plan, we are staying in a Preferred Pool View room. I know this puts us in the 60s section with rooms facing the Hippy Dippy Pool. Anyone have any specific thoughts on what I should request -- I'm thinking fourth floor to minimize noise and back further toward the kiddie pool? (we were 2nd floor PPV in 2015 and it was a bit loud, but not unbearable).

Also, with the Touring Plans room request. At what point do I submit that? I'm at 76 days, so 16 days til my online checkin.

Thank you!

I actually visisted both when i was there and they both were very nice and helpful Targets, I dont remember seeing the other 2 stores mentioned. There's also a Krispy Kreme's and a cvs near by as well!

Does Pop currently have cases or gallons of water for sale? Has anyone seen any recently? I don't want to do a delivery since we just need the water. I have ordered from Turner drugs and Amazon for past trips but thought it would be easier to just pick it up myself even if it costs more.

This is just wonderful! I love it and I hope it works out for me. I am looking for a Yak and Yeti reservation for arrival day at around 7 pm and have had no luck finding one though I have been checking every day. While I still may not get the reservation I want, at least I know that someone is checking for me and will let me know. Thanks!

For Yak & Yeti you need to call them directly. They only give a small percentage of their reservations to Disney.

Here is their number. Tel 407-824-9384

I am betting you will have no problem getting the time and day you want!

Every other WDW always has cases of water for $6.99 each. For some mind boggling reason Pop doesn't have them more often than they do. AND, when they do they are $16.99. Never will understand either of those things. :confused3

Will they still honour the DDP if I book through them rather than Disney?

A quick question to see if anyone knows....In looking at the new room design, my family doesn't care for the new design. I haven't been able to find the specific details of the renovation map (i.e.. what rooms are being done in what buildings). Does anyone know how many rooms in each bldg are being renovated and if you can request to NOT have one of the new rooms.

All of the rooms are being renovated.
