Hi 1st timer in disney and chosen this hotel,
any tips?
Which rooms we should request(no preferable) we'll have for a few days 3/14 a car, but would like to be close to the main building as well as the rest of the days will have to grab the shuttles. dont mind the pool so much (will go for a few days but not that much)
Also , which number do i need to call for the king room? it's our honeymoon so rather have a big bed than 2 double ones.

A standard room in the 50/60/70 will be as close as you can get to Classic Hall. You can request a king but there are very few of them. You can call and have the request added to your reservation and if you chose to do online check in you can select that as a request there as well.

If it were me I would call, just the regular reservation line, and have them add a request for lake view, high floor, king bed. The area with the lake view has a different vibe and it's really nice. Be sure to make the requests in the order of importance. Keep it to a max of 2-3 things. The more simple the request the more likely you are to get it. Last, don't count on getting any of your requests honored. If you get them great, but if you don't then don't be disappointed.

We will be at POP in 123 days! We are booked in a preferred room. What building(s)can we be assigned ? What type of request should I make when it's time for online check in? It is just my husband and I. I'm super excited for this trip.
Preferred is 50/60/70's. Since you already have preferred there are not many requests you can make. You can request a decade, a floor, king bed, close to parking, transportation or Classic Hall. The preferred rooms already put you close to transportation, parking and Classic Hall though. I would just go for a decade and a floor. If you want to be close to a pool ask for 50's or 60's. I like the 4th floor as it's quieter.

I don't know for fact, but I'm assuming if you call the 0800 number that's all over the website that even if it's not the right one they can transfer you.

If you are a member of Touring Plans (to get the Lines app among other things) one of their benefits is they have floor plans and photos of the view from most of the rooms, and you can browse and see what they recommend. I had already paid for preferred as we need to be close due to mobility issues. If I hadn't I'd have chosen 4th floor overlooking the lake in the 50's building. Once you've decided on the room you can actually make it so they will fax the request for you at the appropriate time.

Many people do this in addition to stating their preferences at online checkin, and possibly phoning.

17 days until we arrive. It will be our first stay here, and the first WDW trip as a family. Our flight arrives at MCO at 9pm. Should we expect to have our luggage delivered the following morning? I figure I will pack a carry on with a change of clothes for each family member, as well as necessary toiletries needed for that evening/following morning just in case. I figure we will check in, and then crash since the next morning will be a fairly early one.

Touring plans doesn't update the way it should for a site that charges IMHO. And honestly lately, I have seen lots of out of date/ incorrect info there. I would not waste my money.

I am going at one of the slowest times of the year and purchased Touring plans just to use as a guide and I think it is awesome. I searched MDE several days in a row looking for a reservation at Be Our Guest for the week we are there to no avail. I tried the reservation finder on TP and they found me a lunch reservation for 11:45 and better yet it just so happens to be on one of the days we are planning on being at MK for MNSSHP. I also used their "view from the room" to pick a perfect area for us to use on my room request. I find it well worth the $8.95 (discount if you own the Unofficial Guide).

I would not use the luggage tags and instead retrieve my luggage after arrival. You can bring it to Magical Express with you (many people do so).

Thanks. I'll think what to
Do. At the end of the day there is so much info in this forum and so many helpful people ! Thanks.

I've got all my adrs and will think in the next month about the fp+ so not sure whether I'd get much out of it

Which of th pools do you find is the best

IMO I felt it was absolutely worth it just for the lines app and accurate wait times. I did also create actual park touring plans which we followed lightly, but in two weeks in November that we were there the wait times on the app were never wrong, where Disney's own app often showed inflated times depending on their 'crowd directing' plans. For example during the Christmas party the Disney wait time sor 7DMT was 35 minutes. TP was 23. It was exactly 23 minutes from entering the line till we were getting in the mine cart :)

It's only after coming back that I discovered some more of its perks (like to room fax, and the ADR finder).

The only things I've seen not as accurate as they could be is the crowd calendars, but each of the sites have had their problems because this past 6-8 months haven't had similar crowd numbers to previous years.

It's not a huge amount of money, first timers get a discount a lot of the time, or if you've bought the guide book you get a discount too. I thought it was worth it so much so that I purchased a second year before I knew I was even coming back

To each their own :)

That is one of the things that is incorrect on Touring plans though....they don't always list the right rooms in the correct categories. So you are thinking you want one area and it really isn't correct....we had this same discussion quite awhile ago. TP referred to a collection of rooms as one thing and POP definitely considered them something else.
And Disney has made all of the sites that looked for dining ressies discontinue those apps. ;)

You can still use the Touring Plans one because it only sends you a text that the adt you are looking for is available you still have to get online and make the adr for yourself.

Only the sites that charged people for it and profited from it. On TP it's available to anyone with an account, both the free account and the paid, so they make no profit.

I have a FD package booked 11/15-11/20 for preferred room and I also booked RO on 11/14 using a UOC for standard room. My question is do we need to take our luggage when we check out on the 15th and then have to wait until check in time for the package on the 15th? Is it possible to do online check in for both reservations? I've never done online check-in before. And also will they store our luggage and deliver to new room or will we have to pick it up since we are not changing resorts? TIA

I had checked for the locations of the room category before looking up on TP but what they listed for my search was correct. Also, I got a reservation just this past weekend so they have not discontinued the reservation finder app. I guess nothing is absolutely fail proof but I always do my own research through several sources anyway. I'm more than happy with my $8 purchase

I have been using TouringPlans for several years now, and they are off occasionally on a few things, but if you email them to let them know of any updates and changes they will make the apporpriate changes on the website and app. I had this happen in December. I got a text with our room assignment at ASSports and according to their website it was not what we needed (roll-in shower handicap room). When we actually got to the room it WAS what we had booked. So I took pictures of the room(s) and sent them to touringplans. They apologized and thanked me for the pictures and for making them aware of the room update so they could change it in the system. It has got to be tough to stay on top of all of the changes that Disney is constantly making. I love TP and think it is well worth the member fee for the amount of information they provide. I use the app in the parks all the time. Also, there is a touring plans thread where Len Testa from touring plans will answer your questions and help fix issues with their site and app. He appreciates suggestions from TP followers and members.
