Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

Wow! Part of the reason we decided to stay at Pop was the good transportation and to a lesser degree the decent food court. I'm wondering about all of that now.

I can just drive each day I guess but what about the food court? What is good there? Would it be worth to walk over to AoA?

Just got back from a week at POP. Sorry if this has already been covered, but I'm behind on my readings :)
TOTALLY worth the walk to AoA. We ate once at POP and it was not impressive (made me sad, I was hoping for more), but we ate at AoA 3x (no dining plan). I'd say breakfast is pretty much breakfast between the 2, but lunch and dinner, we liked the CYO pasta and salad, both were huge helpings and worth the ~$12. Kids' meals are more than worth it at approx. $6, large portions then to still get the side(s) and drink...definitely worth it. Tip we got on our first night: We ordered a pizza (in the food court, we didn't get it delivered), and tried to get each kid a drink (milk cartons). The awesome CM told us we should totally go grab a 1/2 gal of milk (about $3.50), because otherwise we're paying like $9 for the milks alone. Thank goodness for her! :)

We arrive tomorrow for a quick 2 day trip! Has anyone been there in the past couple of weeks and know if the rooms have those USB ports instead of alarm clocks yet?
mine just had an alarm clock, we were 50s, 3254/5, no usb ports, hardly any outlets at all it seemed.

We returned from our 2 night trip last night :)

Not sure if the new hairdryers are in every room yet, but we had one in our ground floor 90s room. It was in a pouch next to the extra pillow, up above the iron and "closet" area. There was no USB plug, just the alarm clock by the beds. That's... all I can think of that's changed since our last trip in 2014, haha! We didn't go to the food court much, but we did take the bus back to Art of Animation on Wednesday night so we could get some pasta and walk it back to our room at Pop.

The parks were so quiet this week, I don't think I've seen it like this since 2010 or so. Weather was on our side too, it only rained a little bit on Wednesday while we were at DHS, but it stopped in time for the Osborne lights.

We were also lucky enough to not have to wait too long for buses anywhere. The longest wait was for an Epcot bus at Pop on Wednesday morning, we waited about 20 minutes. We were on the bus by 7:59am. All in all, a great trip!

You must have hit the days way better than we did! We stayed Thanksgiving for one week. park days were Sat-Wed, and it was PACKED. Like every day. Packed, no matter which park. :( I knew the weekend would be busier but even that M-W which were predicted 2 and 4 (6 from another source), but it was busier than I've ever seen it (in my 3 whole trips but one was in August...) It made it kind of difficult. womp womp. Buses were awesome though, we never waited more than 10 min and used the AOA bus a couple of times because it was a nice quick walk back. It was also SO so hot Tues and Wed but not bad the rest of the time, really nice actually. (Also, anything was "hot" to us since we had over 6" of snow when we came back home ;) )

It's not far at all to walk to AOA. I found the whole resort not a huge as I had worried it would be. But, we were in the 60's section facing some trees, so it was only a short 5 minute walk to the bus area. Maybe ten minutes to AOA? At most.

Great! Thanks!!

We arrived at Pop today just for the night before moving to POR. I just want to say every cast member has been awesome here. We received some unexpected pixie dust with a preferred room upgrade and they called to get our room ready early. The Christmas tree is beautiful and smells nice and cinnamony:)

We walked over to AoA to explore and eat lunch and it was an awesome way to spend our first afternoon.

Our room was clean and just perfect! I would stay longer in the future.

I'm sad to hear recent reports of the food not being as good as it used to be at the food court. It's ok as we are only planning to eat there for one dinner when we first arrive and maybe a few breakfasts where we will grab a bagel or something quick like that but I was still looking forward to it for our one dinner. Anyone have any recent recommendations for what is currently tasty there?

DD and I had the chicken parmesan, and we liked it a lot! She liked the sesame chicken as well. We got a large pizza, which was good & we ate on it for a few meals.
She had a burger which wasn't too good, I think the first night. It sounded good, but really wasn't. I forget which one, maybe the eggs benedict one?
Breakfast is well, same as everywhere. Can't go wrong. We shared a breakfast platter one morning.
We tended to bring the food back to our room (they have plate covers), as we wanted to eat in some peace and quiet sometimes. It does get noisy!

Thanks so much for the recommendations! The chicken Parmesan and sesame chicken sound great. I'm glad you found some items that were good! I don't like hamburgers too much so I will definitely be skipping those except for maybe the salmon burger. I read a review from Josh on easywdw that said the salmon burger was worth trying. I guess the good thing for us is we will be on a plane all day so we will probably be happy with anything we get, lol!

I liked the rotisserie chicken meal, the make your own salad, and the salmon burger. DH likes the pizza and the sesame chicken. I did not like the tuna sandwich or the burger, but my husband liked both of them. DS liked pizza, hot dog and hamburger, but that's his stuff, LOL.

For breakfast, I had the kids breakfast platter (one slice bacon, one sausage, scrambled eggs and potato casserole) and I thought it was a good size portion, even for an adult.

The make your own salad and the salmon burger are two of the most appealing entrees to me so I'm glad to hear you liked them.

I always have to eat breakfast but I don't like a lot of food so it sounds like the kids portion would be perfect! Thanks for the tip!

I love the Pop, I really do:love:, but the beds are so small:sad: and the walls so thin :scared:. We were there 10 days, never made it over to AoA. Wish I had of.

Funny - I thought the walls would be thin. We did, though, go last week of August, so Disney was slow (like, one day Soarin' was a walk on ALL DAY - never in my life had I seen that). The Hippy Dippy Pool seemed quite busy all day when we walked by, so the resort did seem nice and busy. But, I never once heard a neighbor! Trip prior at BWI was a nightmare - I called security twice due to noise!

I'm sure at the food court you'll find something to eat. I love that there is so much to choose from! Now I see that although Deluxe offers so much, the food options at Pop are WAY better! I can deal with double beds if it's just 2 of us, and I don't care about a balcony so much then either.

I heard that there were reports that there are some tour groups showing up at WDW and no they didn't specify where they were from so it could be anywhere. Has anyone noticed this? I know to zig when they zag but I never expected them to be there in December?

I've been here since Sunday and have only seen one tour group - today I saw a group of South American teenagers get off an epcot/tl bus. No issues whatsoever at the resort or in the parks.
Currently listening to the epcot fireworks from our room in the 60s bldg :)

Oh, they came through and replaced the MB readers on all the doors in this corridor today. Not sure why.. the new ones stick out farther from the door.

There was a tour group that checked in last Dec. 26 when we were at Pop. It was a huge group of teens. They were very polite and we had zero problems with noise from them. I always expect and usually encounter some type of tour group at Values.
