Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

We may possibly stay at Pop the first few nights of our trip in Nov 2016- I was wondering if anyone knew of rooms close to the bridge to AoA with a lake view. I like water and was thinking a lake view would be nice although I understand there is no room type of Lake View at this resort. Thanks for any help :goodvibes
Upon check in you can request lake view. We always do that and request the 50's section as it is usually quieter and well located to AOA and the lobby. Most any lake view room gets you within 10 minutes of AOA. The 60's and possibly the 70's would be good as well although they may not be as quiet. We have not tried those as we have been real happy with the 50's. Not all lake view rooms have great views (tree's, angle of the room to the water) but it puts you right there. If you can get an upper floor you can usually see HS Epcot fireworks at night as well. There are also benches along the trail of the beach with relaxing views also.

The Hippy Dippy pool is closed? Does anyone know when it should reopen? DH and I arrive on Wednesday.
I am currently at Pop and just wanted to let everyone know they are very close to having the Hippy Dippy pool fully fenced in. The baby splash pool and Bowling Pin pools have already been completed. Don't know about the computer pool as I haven't ventured over to there. There aren't band scanners to get into the pools.
I'm not actually sure if it closed. I just assumed that reading ArielRae's post and knowing that they do referb's this time of the year. You can call the resort direct or check in the boards for reverberations/closings. I will be there Sunday also, but use the Bowling Ball pool when Grand Nieces are not along.

Thank you so much! That is exactly what I am looking for. I don't mind noise so much as I love a nice view and yes I usually prefer higher floors as well. Thanks so much, if we stay there I plan on walking the trail/beach a lot as well.

It had a brief closure that started the 30th or Dec 1. I am sure it is open by now. I remember thinking at least it is only a few days. There was a notice in our room that I didn't see until we were ready to check out the 30th.

The pool was open for our entire stay the 6th - 9th.

We had room 4460, Lakeview in the 60s section. It was perfect - quiet, close to the lobby, and we could see the epcot fireworks from our window.

Just wanted to check in and offer a few tidbits about our stay last weekend.

We arrived last Saturday around 3pm and had done online check in. Online check in is something I'm not fond of but since I had opted to make no requests I decided I would give it another go. There was a bit of a line at the counter but a lovely CM came out of no where and escorted us (from the back of the line) over to her counter a little ways down. We were processed in about 3 minutes. I always make room requests but with this being only a 3 night stay I decided to throw caution to the wind and see what the mouse gave us. Well that didn't work out so well....we got the furthest room possible over in the 90's. I should know better but that's just how I roll. The room itself was a typical POP room. It could have been a little cleaner though. The bathroom had several large hairs on the floor and in the tub along with a soap scum covered wall. There was also a big dirty shoe print on the floor. Usually I travel with a bunch of Lysol wipes but didn't have them this time. I ended up taking a hand towel and soaping up the tub/shower and wiping the floor. Probably should have called housekeeping or the front desk but decided it was quicker and cleaner to do it myself. We experienced more noise in this room than any room, on property, than we have ever stayed in. We were the very last room beside the stairwell and you could hear ever single person out there. Now, it is possible that these were just really loud people. It was quiet at night so that's really all I care about.

This was last minute trip with no flexibility on the dates. Right after I booked I discovered that it was Pop Warner week. Having heard horror stories I was a little nervous. As it turned out the little PW kids were staying at POP and we hardly saw them. Only in the morning in the food court. In future I would not be concerned about this unless I was staying at the same resort as the teenagers. When we checked in and saw that we were assigned the 90's I asked about where the PW kids were staying and the CM said that they were scattered over the entire resort but grouped together with their own teams. That is contrary to everything I had read about them. I had read that they were all placed in the 80's and 90's.

We had a rental car and during the day parking was easy but later it was really hard to find a spot. We came back to the resort one night at about midnight and it felt like we got the last spot in the entire lot.

Hi, we arrive in three days.... was reading the first posts about the updated hair dryers.... are they okay or do I need to pack mine ? thank you

I used one last week and it was ok. I don't use one too regularly, so my opinion may not be solid enough.

Your room will either have the really weak wall mounted one or you will have a slightly better one that is not wall mounted. If your hair is long or thick bring your own.

Thanks for your report! Did you mention the cleanliness issues at any time before you left? I believe it's important to let management know when things are great and when things are not so great. How did you find the food court? Were you happy with what you got (assuming you ate there at some point)?. Thanks for taking the time to post!

No, didn't mention anything to management. I suppose I should have but I'm rarely complain about anything. It's just the way I am.

We ate in the food court a few times. Breakfast twice and lunch once. We have always liked the food there and this time was no different. Everything was hot and fresh. When I go back in March we will be eatting there a lot. We are staying 8 days without a car and only going to the parks 3 days. The goal is to lay in the sun poolside and relax. We chose to return to POP because of the better food options.

@dancin Disney style Thanks for the reply! We'll be there for three weeks in January and will likely have a few meals in the food court. I'm very interested in hearing about other people's experiences there. :thumbsup2 We haven't stayed at Pop since 2005.
