My kids wouldn't swim in the hotel pool, but they went down the slide a couple times and hopped in the hot tub. The hotel manager confirmed that Disney has made a corporate decision to turn the heat down on the pools a "couple" degrees for "environmental reasons" (that is also why I have turned my heat down at home, to heck with the cost I'm trying to save the environment). The water was noticeably colder than our Feb. trip last year to the Boardwalk, where the kids swam all day and the pool was full of swimmers.
I don't know if I'll go to Disney in the winter months again if the kids can't swim. That's half the fun of the whole trip. Apparently, it's not a popular decision, so let your voice be heard if this is a problem for your family as well.
