Resort Thread Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT

Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto Now Opens at 11am Daily

The bar has historically opened at 3 p.m., but the calendar on the Walt Disney World website now lists operating hours beginning at 11 a.m. daily. It is still scheduled to close at midnight every day.

The attached Tiki Terrace is also opening at 11 a.m. and closes at 11 p.m.

Reservations cannot be made in advance, and because the lounge is so popular, people line up hours ahead of opening to get their name on the list. Hopefully the new hours will help alleviate this issue.

I wish they would give guest staying at POLY priority. Anyone else think so?

Thanks to @Steelers0854 who posted this over on the DVC Boards... looks like the bus pickup/drop off will move to a temporary location at the porte cochere 12/17. https://www.disboards.com/threads/t...rs-and-fans-info-thread.3925108/post-66476522

This will presumably be in place for at least a few months while they reconfigure the current bus station/entrance. Probably will be a bit busy out front of the resort for the foreseeable future with the porte cochere now handling both vehicle and bus traffic.

Landscaping Near Complete for New Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Entrance, Aotearoa Stairs Rebuilt

Landscaping is complete or almost done in the new grassy area directly in front of the Great Ceremonial House at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. The former parking lot has been transformed into a new roadway entrance for the resort connected to Floridian Way instead of Seven Seas Drive.

New Polynesian Resort Entrance

A week ago, the new grassy space in front of the Great Ceremonial House was nothing but dirt. Now it’s covered in grass with palm trees and foliage in the corners. Triangular shrubbery is at the front facing the lobby building.

More grass has also been planted along the new sidewalk leading towards the building. Fencing has been shifted back, partially opening this sidewalk and some parking spaces nearby. The end of the sidewalk has yet to be paved but there is now a steel frame on the ground where it will be continued.

The old Seven Seas Drive roadway entrance to the resort will become a bus-only entrance.

Aotearoa Building

Crews fixed the roof of the Aotearoa Building and then moved to the exterior stairs at one end of the building. The staircase was completely torn down and rebuilt. It looks near completion, with steps, railings, and a fresh coat of dark wood paint.

For reference, above is what the stairs looked like two weeks ago.
