A blog picked up on some kind of internal memo that said it was returning for a few of the resorts. It hasn’t been confirmed in public info.
When should a room request be submitted? We don't check in for 41 days (but who's counting!) and curious about when to ask my agent about it since I don't want to needlessly bug her. I am staying in the hotel side, in a standard room. Two kids, 6 and 9. Any suggestions re: what I should request? Would like a balcony or patio and convenience to snack options. Thanks!
Thanks! My agent says I should pick either a balcony request or Rarotonga depending on what I prefer (i.e., central location or balcony, if i want to increase the odds of getting a preference). Hmm. Has that been others' experience as well? I'm not sure which one I think is better! Central location would be great with two kids but I know I would be irritated if we didn't get a balcony or patio given the rack rate we're paying. If you know what you want, just let her know now. I'd ask for a first or 3rd floor room in rarotonga.
The assignors start playing tetris about 5 days out.

I feel the same but I’m wondering how rational that is. Do people actually use the space in a standard room, when you’re not looking out at anything that interested? Genuinely curious and trying to prepare myself for getting 2nd floor room, just in case!I’m with @sponica. Does it ruin my vacation if I get a second floor room? No. Do I really want a a first or third floor room? Yes.

That’s helpful! I have two kids too, 6 and 9I guess I should caveat, I have two kids (11 and 7) and when they go to bed, the balcony is the adult oasis. Or sometimes I step outside in the AM to do emails and such while everyone sleeps. To us, those are pretty important attributes of vacation. If it were just two adults, I wouldn’t be all that concerned.
FWIW, we did go years before ever getting a 2nd floor room and when we finally did it was a “this isn’t that bad” moment. BUT, a balcony is still better.
I do admit if not for places like these boards it’s a topic I frankly probably wouldn’t have ever paid all that much attention to.
I’m all about a (preferably) first floor room or 3rd floor room. We always get standard rooms so I don’t care about the view. The patio/balcony is my drinking place. Lol. I would change rooms the following day if they only had second floor rooms available when I checked in. It’s my top priority. It’s that important to me.I feel the same but I’m wondering how rational that is. Do people actually use the space in a standard room, when you’re not looking out at anything that interested? I do the monorail. Just walk to the one closest, either GCH or TTC. It is a quick ride. Also the security is fast and you get let off where entry to mk seems to move faster. Mono puts us far left of entrance to MK. Buses and ferry come in on the right and usually a mad house. We will be at Poly DVC side the week leading up to Easter. Given that the parks will be full/crowded, which would be the fastest way to get to MK? Hoping for Tokelau. I heard it's quick to walk to TTC and hop on ferry, but if super crowded is it still quickest way due to all of the crowds?

I see the tables outside with people eating in YouTube videos. Sort of a patio with tables and umbrellas. Is that Cpt. Cooks seating or part of Trader Sams? Looks very pretty and hope to eat there, whatever it is.

For rope drop I think I would do GCH. For the rest of the day ttc should be fine. That ttc area gets a lot of people that are new to WDW and it gets a bit congested.
