Checking in to Poly 5/12. This is my favorite resort. However, this is the first time staying in a DVC room. Can anyone tell me what is different with a DVC room?

Checking in to Poly 5/12. This is my favorite resort. However, this is the first time staying in a DVC room. Can anyone tell me what is different with a DVC room?

Pretty much everything. The decor is different. The layout of the room is different. You will have two separate bathroom areas - one (the larger one) has the toilet, a sink and a bathtub/shower combo, while the other has a sink and a lovely rain shower.

Currently you will also have a kitchenette with a fridge, microwave, sink, toaster and coffeemaker. You'll also have paper plates, bowls and cups, paper towels, and plastic utensils. Under normal conditions you'd have real glasses, mugs and utensils.

You'll have one queen bed and a queen sofa bed. Plus a pull down twin bed.

You'll probably see complaints that the rooms don't have any drawer space. Which isn't really true, but since there is no dresser, it can appear to be true. There is drawer space all over, but most of it is not obvious - like the 2 massive drawers under the bed.

Asking for positive vibes and some pixie dust. I've been dragging my feet on contacting my TA to split our stay at the Beach Club with a stay at the Poly. I just checked today, and the Poly is booked for our dates in August. I emailed my TA anyway to ask her to keep checking to see if anything opens up for our dates. With so many things being unknown these days, I am thinking that there may be some cancellations and that rooms may become available. Here's hoping that is the case.

I don't think any places that are AYCTE have carry-out, so honestly unless they totally change and make it menu-based, I don't see it happening.

I just hope private dining will be back at the Poly with reopening and the Twilight Feast will be available.

Saw an Instagram post over the weekend of the nightly movie set up on the beach instead of the normal spot on the fake grass area outside Captain Cook's.

Anyone there recently that can report if it being on the beach has been a regular thing?

Yeah...it's really funny.

I gave serious consideration to changing to the Grand TPV and saving about $400+ - but for now I'm staying put. I'm not really interested in the Grand - it feels too fancy - and I've not heard good things about the shape of a lot of the rooms.
