Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions

Speaking of which, I’ve used the chat feature and have had good experiences with it. It can be handy if on the go/not in the room.

If anyone is at the actual resort over the next two weeks, I'd love to know when the park buses start arriving in the morning.

With all the construction going on, is Poly (particularly, Kona Cafe), quieter during mid-afternoon than the other monorail resorts? I would assume with part of the resort still closed, that would mean less foot traffic, etc.?

I'm looking for a monorail resort to cool off at for a few hours (a mid-day mental break), and was able to get a 2 PM lunch reservation at Kona Cafe.

Grand Floridian Cafe and The Wave also have a few lunch reservations remaining.

My experience is that it is very quiet around the Grand Ceremonial House/Kona Cafe much of the day, especially off-peak hours like mid-afternoon. Almost too quiet - the usual buzz/energy of the main lobby and people coming/going is missing right now. IMO it would be a good spot for a quieter break at the moment.

Thanks for the info! Kona Cafe followed by Dole Whip on the beach it is. :earsboy:

Been here since Sunday. My biggest worry was transportation...aside from Monday when we went to Epcot (over 20 minute wait) we’ve never waited more than a few minutes for transportation.

10 minutes after posting this I got an alert our ROTR boarding group was boarding. We left immediately and waited 40 minutes for a bus to HS. We got to the ride queue 15 minutes late but they still let us on.Other than that transportation has been the best of any hotel we’ve stayed at.

Goal is to stay at every Florida Disney resort. Stayed at all the economy (not for me), moderates (best value IMO). Staying at SS in July (huge family trip). Other than that still need to stay at the GF, OKW, Riviera, YC, BW and CC to complete my goal.

POFQ is my favorite resort, it’s our go to whenever we book. Its been knocked off its throne by the Poly. What an unbelievable resort. I can still smell the resort from home. Cannot wait to go back. Any questions for people with worries for upcoming trips don’t hesitate to ask. We were there 7 nights. Stayed at Pago Pago, end unit closest to GCH and facing inward. Spent over $200 at the gift shop before we left.

Here's a small question. We're thinking of doing a few meals in the unit - maybe takeout from Captain Cook's (that's the easiest option, right?) I see the unit has paper plates/cups/cutlery. If you use that up, is it easy to get restocked?

More generally, I have a stay coming up in June and the idea of the main resort being closed intrigued me (would feel less crowded). I originally had 8 days in a suite at Dolphin, now I've still held on to that and have 4 days at GF, 4 days at Poly. It may seem odd to do a split stay at GF/Poly, but I can't get either one for the whole time. So, at some point in the next month or so I need to either: cancel the Dolphin, cancel the Poly/GF, or cancel one of the GF or Poly and alter the Dolphin room to cover whichever of the GF/Poly I cancel. (Or get more inventory to show up b/c right now it's CSR & AoA as only other options and I want to be able to walking to park(s)). It's 2 adults, 1 child. Price isn't really a factor b/c they're similarly priced (although Poly is most $$).

I've stayed at GF and Dolphin before..never Poly - when I went to brunch there I thought "ooh I want to stay here sometime" but that's about as close as I've come.

Just a reminder that the Monorail stop you would need to use is at the TTC or the GF and a walk to the GCH while the Polynesian resort Monorail station is still under refurbishment. Another option is a resort launch (boat) from the MK.

:yay: on the great Dole Whip choice on the beach after Kona Cafe.

Disney just emailed me a survey about my canceled July 4th reservation last summer and I’m getting the sads all over again. The questions are all about why I didn’t go and what it would take for me to come back.
On the upside they are wanting input which is always a good sign and a chance for you to add any additional feedback.

These surveys are actively monitored and in a couple of cases I have received a follow-up email and in one specific case a phone call.

CC and Kona are equally easy to mobile order. You could also order from each menu since Kona is just a quick walk upstairs. They’re both roughly the same wait time.We ate pretty much everything off both menus. Best thing from Kona IMO was the seafood Mac n cheese. I preferred the macadamia nut pancakes but my daughter preferred the tonga toast. Cant go wrong with either. CC best food item - by far - is the pulled pork nachos. Everything else was decent but those items stood out.

When you mobile order they’ll supply utensils rolled in a paper napkin. The room has about 10 coffee cups, a cup full of utensils and a paper towel roll. We didn’t need to restock...the only thing we ran out of was cups because I’m a big coffee drinker. They were very compliant with our other requests so I don’t think you’d have a problem getting those items restocked. On a coffee note they only give you 1 Joffrey caffeinated and 1 decaf filter your entire stay. I didn’t bother asking for more because they sell them at the Moana store for $1.49 which makes 4 cups.

I’ve stayed at both Swan and Dolphin...they’re fine but if price isn’t a factor I’d chose the Poly/GF split stay.

You have made many changes, when is your next trip?Where?

My dd is heading to Orlando this weekend WITHOUT ME!

Trying a UO value/Dockside. The girls are bringing their laptops and working from the roomduring the day and party at night. To be young!

She will drag them over to wdw for sure. She got a CG Ressie and then probably mono resort visiting after.

I have 32 days to go until my birthday trip. It’s just me since gf is still stuck home in Canada. So I ended up cutting it to 8 days, 4 at GF + 4 at YC. Sad that she can’t come with me and I could not stay at Poly but excited since both resorts are new to me (I did BC on my last trip before the closures). I have not been anywhere since Covid and desperately need a vacation.

Our October trip for the 50th weekend turned into 2 weeks of CR/Poly split since May had to get cut down, will love to experience brand new rooms at both resorts. Just hope CL is back by then. I am also thinking about last minute July 4th but I have to see what’s going on with work. I may have interns to train around then.

Your DD’s trip sounds awesome. What are you gonna do with yourself?? 😂

Wait a month and we have Uni and wdw split the whole family!

PM me if need anything about YC and GF. I have stayed at both several times covid.

Poly is so easy to visit from GF so just plan on that!

Nice, thank you! I have a dinner ADR at Kona and I plan on taking a lunch break from MK for meatballs on my birthday so I will definitely have Poly time while I’m at GF.
