Hi friends! Do any of you have a picture or can take a picture of the current activities/ movie schedule? Also, is Lilo’s Playhouse open for activities or crafts like the other community centers? I’ve never looked into that on any of my stays at Poly.

Unfortunately, Lilo’s Playhouse has closed. 🙁 Hopefully someone can help you with the current activity schedule. Enjoy!

Hi all,
I'm a bit stuck and am kindly seeking any advice / thoughts on this:

I am (finally!) returning to the parks 6/26-7/4. I have a reservation for the 1st 4 nights at GF and need to fill in the last 4 days. I don't have a ton of options at this point. (Long story why I didn't do this earlier which doesn't matter..) I had planned to stay at the boardwalk area.. there's nothing avail right now other than the Swolphin, which I might consider. An option that just popped up was Poly studio. I normally ignore studios b/c I think they're a bit small, but from what I read/understand the Poly is an exception.

I love the monorail/epcot resort split stay. I vote for the Swolphin.

Have they said when the restaurants will reopen? I'm hoping at least some of them will reopen when the hotel side reopens

'Ohana is the only restaurant that has not opened yet. No word on it, but speculation is that maybe July 19 when the rest of the resort opens.

Trader Sams is so tiny, I don't see it reopening until ALL physical distancing limits are lifted.

Oh really? The article i read must be outdated. I thought it seemed off.

Is the trader sams terrace open?

I don't think so.

Kona, Capt. Cook's, Tambu Lounge, the pool bar, and the place to get dole whips are all open.

I hope it'll open. I'm not hopeful the inside of trader sam's will open but we did spend a ton of time on the terrace last time. And weirdly the oasis pool grill last time even though it's not like amazing food wise, it was always nice and quiet.

My concerns about the Poly - the monorail is closed. So first question - is it assumed the monorail will stay closed until the main hotel opens up "late July"?

I think the restaurants are also closed? Kona Cafe seems open - is that it?

I can see an advantage of staying here when the hotel is closed as it'll be less crowded, but on the other hand perhaps transportation, particularly if the monorail is closed, will be tough? I assume I can walk to the GF for monorail as usual OR walk all the way to MK now(!)

Anyway - any thoughts on staying at Poly while hotel is closed? Will I be missing out on the full experience? Or, is it the best time to go? (Or neither!)

funnily enough we are staying at the Poly on those exact days...we rented a DVC Studio through Davids dvc rentals...from what I understand the Poly studio are pretty good sized plus it has two bathrooms ( I have three daughters and a wife)

That's what I've heard! I've only ever stayed in the traditional hotel rooms.

To be clear, it is one full bathroom and one shower/sink.

We have stayed at both the Swan and the Poly since WDW reopened.

As far as the Monorail goes, you simply walk over to the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC). If you stay at the Poly before the hotel opens, you'll be staying in one of the 3 DVC buildings: Tokelau, Moorea, or Pago Pago. These are all close to the TTC.

There's a lot of construction going on right now at the Swan & Dolphin's Grotto pool. It's scheduled to finish sometime this summer, although probably not by your travel dates. The Swan is a wonderful hotel but if you plan to spend a lot of time at the pool, best to stay away from the Swan until the construction is finished.

The Poly is in the opposite position. Because the hotel is closed, it's the easiest it has even been to get a chair by the pool. You'll probably never get another chance to experience the Poly this empty.

Have you considered Bay Lake Tower?

Oh wow, they took down that GIANT tree that was right there. I always assumed that thing had been there for a long time, maybe original to 1971. It had really taken over that entire space and was right up against the building (which probably was causing problems). Bummed to see it go, it was beautiful.

I can’t picture it!! 🤔 I am going through my pictures to see if I have one.

ETA: I did take two pictures of that area (not on purpose!)... but I was taking a picture of the line outside of Pineapple Lenai for the Blue ‘Stitch’ Dole Whip in June 2019. Is that it?! Good call!! 😎

That's what I was thinking / wondering about (fewer people on site)... and why I ultimately booked it, at least for now...

Here's a follow-up question that I remember reading about a few years back on these boards -- daily room checks... Here's perhaps not the original thread but some chatter about it. https://www.disboards.com/threads/room-checks.3812227/ On the original thread people were talking about CMs opening the door in the middle of the night and looking around w/ flashlight. That's not happening, right? I am "pretty not ok with that" (or substitute your own non-Disney friendly language version of that sentiment.) Come in during the day for housekeeping = great (which, from what I understand, they're not doing b/c of covid?). In either case, middle of the night ≠ great. I last stayed on property in '19 and if they came in at night they didn't wake me.... so... any thoughts from frequent visitors?
