Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions

Today was our first night at the Poly and it's better than ever. The great CL staff/chef are still here and they have added a chicken/lettuce wrap station during snack time. They also have chips and veggies.

Dinner was fresher than previously served. Everything looks homeade and we no longer have the crab rangoons, conch fritters, etc. This has been replaced with sushi, mahi mahi, and sesame meatballs. Can't wait for the rest of the trip!

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Well I'm on my countdown, sitting here listening to Christmas music daydreaming about the Polynesian. Dreaming about it even more than any park. Oh how I love the resorts. 19 more days! :cloud9:

I'm the same way, I enjoy the parks but I love our resort time! Hope you have a great trip :santa:.

I'm wondering for those who stayed at the Poly prior to a DCL cruise, could you please let me know what time the bus to the port came to pick you up and when you arrived at the ship. I'm debating if we should take the Disney bus or rent a car or book a car service.

Thanks for any advice you can offer!!!

I can't answer your question as we've never taken a cruise after a resort stay, but if it were me, I'd take a car service (just my preference). I would want the flexibility of being on my own schedule instead of having to be on a schedule for pick up (again, just my preference). With that said, hopefully others will be able to give information on Disney's pick up time :wizard:.

I am so excited!! I crunched my numbers and decided YOLO...

Going to fulfil my lifelong dream and stay at the Poly!!! Aug 18-26!!!!

I just have a standard... Figuring I'd like to request a King bed since it's just me - give the Touring Plans fax service a try. Any recommendations for a great room or lodge? (I prefer upper floor, but not mandatory.)

Perfect! Thanks! The Sunday we are there is going to be a lazy day as we will be waiting for my sister to arrive to stay the second half of our trip, so wanted a leisurely breakfast.

I didn't want you to be disappointed as I tend to do a late breakfast. Ie. I began to wonder if I might have been lucky with the bar opening.

But I just looked online and Tambu lounge is showing that it opened at 7:30 this morning! With 'Ohana and Kona, I'm sure we are not alone in our requests. :goodvibes

Thanks!

I think we may now do a breakfast at The Wave and do breakfast at Kona on our last full day. :)

Does anyone know what the parking restrictions for the resort are right now for guests not staying there? We would like to have breakfast at Kona Cafe tomorrow morning, but the only reservations were too early or too late. Was hoping to try for a walk up, but we aren't staying there. I know sometimes they limit parking to those with ADRs if you're not staying there. Does anyone know if that is a current restriction? We'll go with the later reservation if we need to but 11am is really almost lunch time for us!

Trader Sam's question. How hard is it for 2 to 3 people to grab a seat indoors after 10 pm, any night?

Thanks!

****Asked on restaurant forum and got an answer, it's always crowded! :D

I said that's okay, I'd rather drink a martini or wine anyways. We can go to Tambu Lounge later at night.

Another question. :)

Say we have dinner reservations at Boma for 8:00 in October. The same night MK is having it's Halloween party that lasts until midnight. We would be able to catch a bus to Magic Kingdom from AKL and then go home to Polynesian from there, correct?

Yes, you can take a bus from AKL to MK and then take the monorail or boat from MK back to Poly. Both will likely still be running unless you're way after midnight which I'm assuming isn't likely.

Thanks!!! But Micky (my boyfriend - 20 years, so I feel silly referring to as boyfriend, henceforth he will be referred to by his name ) just nixed Boma. He HATES buffets...don't ask.:scared1:
So we are doing The Wave our AK night instead. Staying at Animal Kingdom until 8, then a later dinner there.

But this will help us on second AK/Sanaa night. It's on Halloween itself so there will be another party again, same situation, we are gold! :thumbsup2

It changes daily so it's hard to say. I would suggest parking at the TTC and walking over to Poly.

Enjoy the planning, you will love the Poly! :goodvibes

We paid off our balance yesterday, we are really staying at the Poly! :yay: With Christmas just around the corner and only 71 days until we go, the excitement is really kicking in!

It's a good feeling making that last payment! The time will go fast and you will be arriving at the Poly before you know it :dance3:.

Thanks!! I told my dad I decided to change from AKL and as soon as I said "Where have I always wanted..." he said "Are you staying at the Polynesian??" He knows me so well!!

Boyfriend casually asked me yesterday "How many days until our trip?"
He caught me off guard, so I had to look at the countdown on my phone and even I was surprised!!!
39 DAYS:cool1:
We've dreamed about staying at the Poly since we planned our first trip together and I cant believe its finally so close to actually happening:goodvibes

The December Recreation Calendar lists "Holiday Performers" at 6:30 and 7:30 on several different days before Christmas. Any ideas what that might be?

So excited to have the Poly booked for 10/4 to 10/8, it is my dream resort, BUT thinking about renting a van because transportation sounds like it has been a real issue. I think it is kind of ridiculous to pay that much money and not be able to get to the parks via Disney transportation in a timely manner. Anyone know if Disney is working on this problem?

Not sure what you mean by problem.
