That's very odd. I looked around for a times board and did not spot it. Where is it hanging?

There was a single spot and a CM was there when we were waiting on the bus to Studios. It pulled up and waited behind the Disney Springs and the Animal Kingdom buses in a line. Each one had to take its turn in the one spot where the CM was standing so people could get on.

When we got back from Studios, there were another couple of buses ahead of us and we had to wait and wait before we could pull up and get off.

This really surprised me, as I couldn't believe there was really only a single space for pick up and drop off at the Poly.

Is it Christmas yet? This whole not telling my kids until Christmas thing is KILLING ME! We aren't going until September, but I have them completely convinced we can't go to Disney next year because we have to travel for my grandmother's 80th birthday in June, and traveling again in September would be a pain. They completely believe it. (My grandmother really is turning 80 and we really are going but that isn't stopping me from WDW!).

To tell them, I bought a calendar on Shutterfly. It has a picture of each person in our extended family on their birthday. But when you get to September, there is a picture of us in front of the castle from different trips on each date that we will be there. And the main picture at the top of the calendar says "We're going to Disney World!" They have wanted to stay at a monorail resort for awhile so I think they are going to flip!

Did any of you who booked "magical" deals get the little "Your Incredible Vacation" booklets? I didn't get one and my TA didn't seem to know what I was even talking about. Her response was "You won't get your Mickey mail until August." That's not what I am talking about. I had previously booked a bounced back at CBR that was for the same dates and we got a little book almost immediately with details about the trip. When I rebooked this trip, I didn't get one of those books.

No Incredible booklet with the magical deal.

And what a fun way to reveal your trip!!! Hope they flip!!!

If you are standing on the curb facing the bus stop, the time board was in the left corner of the shelter.

We've stayed at Contemporary and French Quarter and at both of those places only one bus at a time loaded.

Hello Polynesian lovers. I am in a state of shock right now. DH and I are members of DVC, I need a vacation this winter to get out of cold, cold NJ. So I went to the DVC members site and saw that some nights in the Poly bungalows are available in February. We have enough points to book 4 nights and I just did it. Wow, this is a dream come true. I stayed at the Poly in 1972 when I was a child, and loved it. Became DVC member in 2006, SSR members, have taken many trips and 5 cruises, so very happy to be traveling to the Poly this winter

What a great Christmas surprise! September will be here before you know it. Enjoy the planning :wizard:.

So awesome!! I've always wanted to stay at the Poly and will be doing so in August for the first time!! So I definitely understand the dream come true thing!! :)

So excited to have the Poly booked for 10/4 to 10/8, it is my dream resort, BUT thinking about renting a van because transportation sounds like it has been a real issue. I think it is kind of ridiculous to pay that much money and not be able to get to the parks via Disney transportation in a timely manner. Anyone know if Disney is working on this problem?

not sure if you know but if you are going to the magic kingdom with the van, you still have to park at the TTC anyway (which is walking distance from the Poly). there is no parking lot immediately outside the park. you park at the TTC and take the ferry or monorail across the 7 seas lagoon to the park.

as far as the other 3 parks, you will get varied opinions. it's hit or miss. sometimes you catch a bus right away, sometimes you have to wait in line. sometimes youget a seat, sometimes you stand. that is why some people choose to rent a car. me? I love the disney transportation. even when we used to drive down from chicago, we would still use it. only drove to the water parks, Disney springs mostly. we like not worrying about driving, relaxing, and we can enjoy adult beverages that way too.

We are thinking of trying out a studio at the Poly next year, but would be booking directly through Disney. Are the Lake View studios reserved for those booking with DVC points only? I ask because I've tried a variety of dates through the year and I never see the Lake View studios available - only Standard View (and in some cases the Bungalows even show up as available, but never the Lake View studios.) Does anyone know?

I think only one of the DVC villas buildings has lake views. and then only half of the studios face the lake. so those are probably booked easily with points. just so you know, one third of those lake view studios are on the 1st floor with mixed reviews of how much of the "lake" you can actually view, what with the Bungalows being right in front of them. on the other hand, I think only one of the DVC buildings have dead on parking lot views for standard views. most are courtyard views.

you might want to check into renting DVC points. you would have an easier time getting lake view, I think, and I'll bet it's probably cheaper than booking through disney.

Disney still control about 20% of the DVC units. The actual mix is a question, but it may very well be that all of Lake View has been declared to the condo association, and thus are points bookings unless released back to Disney CRO based on points trades and volume.

LV is only in Moorea. There are, if I recall correctly, 72 units. People complain mightily when they spend the points on LV and get first floor.

We just rented DVC points for the first time this past December and had a great experience, however we need flexibility for this next trip so I don't know if I want to lock ourselves in by renting again. We booked the bounceback offer for 30% off though so I think the cost would be similar to renting.

I am thinking this must be the case, I just find it odd that any date I check the LV rooms are always gone (and I really just kept plugging in random dates.) I guess if I want to go this route I'll have to be okay with the standard view. I know the standard views are not that bad anyway; my kids just love watching the water pageant from the room and I know there's no chance of that with the standard view.

FWIW, IMO the bungalows really botch the water pageant view from that DVC longhouse. The "prime" viewing angle is really more by the pool/beach area. We usually stay CL in a TPV room... even on the third floor of Hawaii a decent portion of the parade gets blocked by the bungalows. It's not bad, it's just not the full unabated view it used to be pre-bungalow.

Hi All! Excited about our first stay at the Poly for a short trip to Epcot 2/2-2/5. Planning on going to the Magic Kingdom after hours event on 2/2 with my two girls (hubby staying at the hotel boo!!) My youngest is my wild card and may not want to stay until 11:00 :( If I wanted to have my hubby pick her up, where would be the best place to hand off the kid LOL!!
Thanks!!!
M.

Awesome! Poly is my favorite resort. Stayed at the studio villas last fall and that was great. Please update us when you have your trip!!

How old is your youngest that you're going to hand off? The best way would be monorail in my opinion, if they are old enough to know to get off at the Poly (it's the 3rd stop on the resort loop after the Contemporary and TTC).

Thanks for the info...she is only 8 but I'm hoping she will be up for it since it's from 8-11. Can my husband ride the monorail to the entrance and we meet there? I'm not familiar with the Monorail lines but I'm guessing that may be the closest point?
Thanks again!
