We are checking in 2 days after you. Maybe we will run into you around. I requested Rarotonga first floor King Room - hopefully we will get it. This will be our 4th stay at the Poly and we got this request 2 of the 3 times. Last year we were on the 3rd floor, which was fine too.

Hope you have another great Poly trip :wizard:.

I am so sorry about your disappointment. Did you ever get to change rooms? How was your stay there? - I hope you still enjoyed the Poly. It is a lovely resort.

No I was only there for one night. It was a special treat on my birthday.
I was flat out told there was nowhere else - have a nice day...

I noticed a few stays there was no greeter in early AM. We did get greeted if we arrived after 12 everytime in the past.....since checkin is 3? My guess is no greeter is staffed then.....
Auntie was there in the morning thou

I'm 90% sure I'm renting a DVC Studio for my honeymoon next September. Should I prepare myself now that I probably won't get the top floor lake view I'll request?

Yes. You have a 1/3 chance of getting third floor. You have a 2/3 chance of not.

So it's not impossible, but keeping in mind that DVC is designed to run at 98%+ occupancy, and Poly typically runs at such occupancy as well, someone has to be assigned second and first floors. If paying LV rates and getting first floor would significantly harsh your mellow, you need to consider realistic options that guarantee you a better experience.

It's going to be disappointing only because I know how much better a 3rd (or even 2nd floor) would be. I think paying the extra is worth it for the chance of the best view and worse case scenario we at least get to watch the fireworks from our patio. I'd be happy with a 2nd floor, I really just want to be able to see the castle and Space Mountain.

I've been debating trying to upgrade our standard DVC villa to lake view (although I don't know if that's even possible) but I'm glad I read these past few posts about it. We'll stick with standard and if we have a glimpse of the lake, even better!

That just simply was not a lake view. I would have been really disappointed too. I think you should follow up with management or guest services.

There is a reason it is called LAKE View, rather than Theme Park View. The only DVC with a bookable TPV is BLT, for a reason.

While this is true clearly 2nd and 3rd floor views have a great view of MK. It's a stretch to call 1st floor a lake view with the bungalows in the way (Although if you're on the far east side on the 1st floor you still get a lake and even theme park view)

It just makes me think about how the views at AKL were reclassified because people were upset they paid for a savannah view and got the mud pits outside their room. I paid for a standard view in February and got a dirt pit and I was ecstatic because I could still see animals.

Disney won't do a points reallocation at Poly until it sells out completely, and then probably a few years after that. And the reallocation is going to be very tough on a lot of owners.

Well I've checked in and I just want to cry.
The only request I made was for a high floor. I'm in moorea in a "lake view" ground floor in the corner with a view of a fence, people walking past the patio and bungalows. I can't even have the curtains open as everyman see in. I'm so disappointed after paying out all this money for my birthday trip. Check in staff said there was nothing they could do. It was a lake view as far as they were concerned.

Tracy - I agree with others - if you have a picture of this view, you really should send it to member services and tell them about your displeasure and that it wasn't Lake View quality. They need to keep hearing this so that they change the classification. It's likely that you can also get some points back for that stay.

We had a similar situation and talked w/ the manager while we were on site. We also emailed member satisfaction & Ken Potrock's office when we got home. We got a phone call from an admin, who claimed they'd never seen this complaint before but would look into it. Suuuuuuuuuure. Anyways - make some noise, it can't hurt. =)

Only 21 more days!!! October is our favorite time to visit Disney World, but this year is extra special!! We make a trip to the Poly every year, to eat at O'hana, but have never actually stayed at the resort. We are all beyond excited!!:dancer:Thanks to everyone for all of the great tips on this forum!! :disrocks:

We check in in 21 days for our first (and likely only) Poly stay after numerous 'Ohana visits too! :)

We are checking into a bungalow next week. Is there any word on the air conditioning problems?

While this will be an unpopular answer - I think that they should take the 'not very lake view' 1st Floor Rooms and replace them with the upper floor Tokelau rooms that do have a LV. I bet they could keep the same number of LV rooms in their inventory that way and I think have he same amount of happy guests!

I made a note of the style of coffee makers in the rooms but I cannot find it now and the search is yielding a ton of results. So, in a TPV room, what kind of coffee maker is there?
