Man we are just having bad luck on this trip. Late last night my boyfriend woke up with food poisoning. He was sick every 30 minutes and with out going into details I'll just say we had to remove the sheets from one bed. Housekeeping came up at 1am with new pillows and sheets. Since he was still sick I couldn't sleep. I called to the front desk and explained the situation. I just wanted to sleep. The man on the phone met me with the manager at my room and allowed me to sleep in a unoccupied room a few doors down. I was so grateful I started crying and explained that it was my actual birthday today and I just wanted sleep. They were so nice. For having such an unfortunate turn of events those CMs from the front desk and housekeeping were amazing this morning. Now we're eating toast trying to get better for our California Grill reservations tonight.

Oh no, hope he's feeling better today!!

Thank you!! Have people walked in with bathing suits and just covered in a towel to grab a snack and go back to the pool (obviously wont walk in leaving a trail of pool water...lol)? Not sure if that's frowned upon though. Thanks again. =)
People do it all the time.

Just checked in for my first stay at the Poly & DH's 2nd (1st was when he was a kid) We are DVC & really wanted Tokelau 3rd floor but got Pago Pago. We are not picky so we're going with it.

The room is spotless. CM's who greeted us & checked us in were lovely & a really awesome older gentleman showed us the path to our room & was great! I will have to try & get his name & send an e-mail.

While we don't have a great view (parking lot) the area is quiet. We are close to the bus stop & I think TTC.

So far we are happy & no issues with the things I've read complaints about lately.

Glad you are happy so far. The CMs are wonderful. One of the front desk CMs Paul stayed by our side when we had a room issue while another CM Dave was trying to work it out. I also had not been to the Poly since I was a teenager

I am dancing for joy!!!! We are finally booked for Poly CL for next August!!!! party:

We have been waiting years to stay at the Poly (for all construction to be done, etc...) and we have stayed at a bunch of other great Disney resorts along the way, but this - this is what we have been waiting for!!! It's finally happening!!! :dancer:

My mom would like a room with a balcony patio to enjoy her coffee in the morning. Making sure I have this right, just first floor rooms have a sitting area on the balcony, correct?

1st and 3rd floors at the "normal" longhouses. All DVC units have balconies or patios.

Enjoy your stay! I will be at the poly in 36 days for the second time. We stayed at the poly in March for 1 night after a cruise and were in Pago Pago with a garden view and really liked it.

Did you request Tokelau and not get your request? I'm curious because the only request I put in was upper floor but was thinking of putting in a request of Tokelau but don't want to be disappointed if I don't get it. I usually don't put in requests and I know I will be fine with Pago Pago. My son actually wants a view of parking lot to watch the monorail.

Here now for our first stay! We received our text on the drive down. I know we didn't need to check in but I really wanted to go into the lobby for the experience. The CM was super nice. We are here celebrating our DD birthday and she asked if she would like a birthday button (which most resorts do this), but what I thought was a nice touch and not done before - she made me and DH a "I'm celebrating" button that says Her 9th birthday. My DD loved it! We are in the Rarotonga building on the 3rd floor. We didn't put any requests in so I didn't have any expectations. It is a very convenient locating right off the GCH. Our room was very clean and we really like the spaciousness of the room.
We watched wishes from the beach, went swimming then enjoyed a dole whip. Couldn't ask for a better start to a vacation!
So happy to be here!

We did request Tokelau, Room 3914 or similar (3rd floor, North Wing). We used the Touring Plans fax request service. Probably should have called Member Services too but I kept forgetting.

At any rate, we are happy with Pago Pago. My transportation planner hubby certainly does not mind wat hing the monorail go by.

We will be at a month tomorrow for our upcoming Poly stay.:yay:

When do we make room requests and do online check in?

You will be checking in before you know it! :goodvibes

As the pp said, you can add requests now :).

In addition to online check in I would call in room requests. When we got to Poly they said we did not have any requests on file, eventhough I had requested 3rd floor as my only request.

I agree, I'd call and have your requests noted ;).

You're welcome! Yes, people do go into Captain Cooks in their bathing suit as it's right by the pool :).

Hopefully flip flops will do. =)

Flip flops are perfectly fine :thumbsup2

Glad you had a great check in, very nice touch from the CM with the birthday and celebration buttons! Hope you have a great stay and enjoy the Poly. Happy birthday to your DD :cake:.

I believe I read this already (I may have actually asked the question myself already) but we leave on Monday my brain is on WDW overload right now.

Do they still give the leis at check-in? If so....if we online check-in, are we still eligible to receive them and how do I make that happen?

We've always received ours from a CM/greeter as we've entered the lobby.

We are checking in 2 days after you. Maybe we will run into you around. I requested Rarotonga first floor King Room - hopefully we will get it. This will be our 4th stay at the Poly and we got this request 2 of the 3 times. Last year we were on the 3rd floor, which was fine too.

At our check-in we were never greeted outside or given a lei. We had a very unenthusiastic CM checking us in (a guy) who also never said anything or offered us one...we eventually asked him and he was kind of surly about it too. It's not so much that he said "NO", it's that he grumbled something about how somebody else would do it. Eventually another Cm came along and we asked her and she happily gave them to us.
