That's a great view thank you for sharing! :thumbsup2 Is Hawaii a club level building only? I would like to get on my reservation a longhouse building request but not sure which one now since we've moved up to TPV. Any recommendations? :goodvibes

Yes, Hawaii rooms are all club level. I will let others chime in on non-CL theme park view room longhouses. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) we've only ever stayed CL at Poly so I'm not totally up to speed on those options.

Best of luck with your planning, sounds exciting!

Yikes - these recent threads are making me really nervous to book 3 rooms (not DVC) at the Poly in 2018 for $$$$$. I'm sure there are great reviews...I haven't made it back through the 400+ pages but I'll be really bummed if we feel like it's a sub-par experience. I don't have expectations of getting the exact room requests we submit. But I do expect clean rooms, friendly CMs, and an atmosphere that corresponds with the price paid compared to value resorts. Our priority is location to transportation which is what puts us at a monorail hotel. Fingers crossed...

We love the poly for the transportation. Our go to parks are MK and Epcot and we only visit the other 2 for a morning each.

I don't expect anything when we go other then a bed, running water and a toilet!

When I request, I just request a building as my top request, which was Tokelau ore DVC...sigh...

I don't care about the view because honestly we are rarely out there. Some would say why do you spend that much money if you don't spend time in your room. For us, it's the Epcot/MK monorail, the pool with the bestest view, the sounds of the MK and the Seven Seas Lagoon, etc....

The first time I went with a kid of my own, our bathroom had not been touched, the previous owners didn't even flush their friggin pee...seriously how gross! So I called and they gave us a new room. It didn't make my trip any worse because I was in Disney and at the Poly. So basically going back to my first sentence, I don't expect too much because I know why I am at the poly for the reasons I mentioned.

It's not our first visit, but it will be our first time for the littles and the first time staying onsite. With the ages of the kids at the time of the trip, we have to make proximity to transportation a top priority (especially with baby 13 months who will be on a different schedule than the 4 and 5 year olds of the family). Sigh...we have friends with young ones who recently stayed at a value resort (can't remember which one) and they said they ate up a lot of time in bus transportation and waiting for buses. Trying to avoid that - at whatever cost (guess I shouldn't say that!) Also considering the GF but I think the kids will find the Poly theme more entertaining - just got back from Maui with them. Guess I will have to keep reading - still lots of time before May '18.

My kids LOVE the poly! My oldest has gone 4 times (she is 15). First time She was 15 mo and it was so easy to get back for mid day breaks wit the stroller. 2nd time she was almost 5, ds was almost 2, I can't recall if my oldest did the slide or not. Next time they were 7, almost 5 and 2 and I know my oldest had sore legs on pool days because she was on that slide all day. The last trip they were 12, 9 and 7 and pool days we only spoke to them when they wanted food or a drink. Disclaimer: We did watch them and didn't rely on the lifeguards to watch our children but they were either going up and down the slide or playing pool games.

They are now 15, 13 and 10 and can't wait to go back to the Poly....well Disney. But we aren't going until 2018.

Thank you so much! Not sure at which point to put in my request - do I do it from the beginning? Or better off waiting until a week or two prior to our arrival to make the request?

I don't think it matters. We've always used the Touring Plan fax service - I know they send at 5 days out. But since it's on your file if you call it in, I don't think there's harm in doing it earlier!

We have only stayed at the Poly for a single night, in Tuvalu 3408. This was our view.

We've also never traveled to WDW just as a couple without it being business related, so for our 25th anniversary, we newly empty-nesters are staying at the Poly the first week in December.

I don't think this building is available any longer as a regular room, though. Could anyone confirm this?

Was this a top floor?

Yes, you can always tell if the room number starts with a 3 that it is.

The second number is the building, Tuvalu is building #4.

Then the last two is the room # on the floor.

Thank you so much, I'm actually going to request this room number. Not sure if they honor those requests, but its worth a shot because that's a beautiful view and we always request top floor! :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

I believe the entire 3 floor of Tuvalu that faces that direction is TPV.

I highly recommend Rarotonga Garden view room. I ended up with 2nd floor facing the Oasis pool. Saw mostly the back of Oasis Grill. However, we could actually see lots of the Wishes and HalloWishes fireworks from our room. Not all of it, just the very high fireworks, but still, I was not expecting that at all. Was awesome with the Twilight feast we ordered. Actually, hubby loved it so much we ordered it again another night. I am sorry to hear people not enjoying their trips or the Poly. I found the room to be in fine condition, the service and CM's polite at the very least, I loved the theming and the SMELL you encounter in the lobby. I gotta find a candle that smells like that.
We loved the Lava Pool and slide, the splash pad, but we really spent more time at the Oasis pool. Designed so well! We even snagged a cabana on two occasions when people left early.

Just a tip, I'd advise against requesting a specific room number. Most folks will tell you to be a little more broad in your requests, something that the room assignor has a legitimate chance of being able to accommodate. I have in the past requested broad room # ranges, but not a single room.

Is the view from the Poly CL pretty good for fireworks and is the lounge packed (we'll be there off-season if there is such a thing). Thinking if we splurge for CL in Hawaii we will go with standard view.

I'm hopeful that if they see the type of room I've requested, if they can't give that specific room they can at least see what I'm hoping for? LOL. Just hoping for not to pay for a TPV and get a huge tree or other similar large object blocking or obstructing the view we're paying for. =)

the entire 3rd floor of tuvalu has that same view - there is nothing in front of the building but water. so you'd be fine to request that!

I stayed Poly CL at the end of August and the lounge was not packed on any given day. In fact, only the 2nd floor was being used and the 3rd stayed empty. I watched Wishes from the lounge on several different night and the view was always gorgeous! I also stayed garden (standard) view and the view from my patio was straight out to the Oasis pool. It was pretty much perfect! :)

Don't depend on Disney to "think" for you and make the connection with a specific room number and the type/location of room you want. It's not the way the system is really set up. They are assigning an incredible number of rooms every day so you kind of have to keep it simple. That being said, by booking a TPV room at Poly you narrow the possible longhouse / location options down considerably by default.

FYI - Disney is relatively (if not very) serious when it comes to bookable view categories in most situations. Meaning, if you paid for a TPV room, you are effectively guaranteed a full / reasonably unobstructed view of the castle. If a palm tree blocks a direct view of the castle from a specific room, that room won't be categorized as a TPV room in Disney's system (it will likely be Lagoon View). For example, there are a few 2nd and 3rd floor rooms in the Hawaii building that are categorized as LV rooms because of a couple of palm trees in the immediate view corridor, whereas the rooms on either side are TPV rooms. This same idea applies to other longhouses as well. I'm sure the presence of a plant is open to interpretation in some cases, but that's generally how it works.

Hope this helps!
