Can someone confirm what the view options are for a room with a King bed? We currently have a standard room booked, and I was considering upgrading to a Lagoon view - but I read that there are no Lagoon Views or Theme park views with a King bed. Is that true? Also - are there any parking lot views on King rooms? Trying to decide which I want more - the view or the bed. TIA!

According to Tikiman's site,
"King beds are only located in Samoa, Rarotonga and Fiji. There are no king bed rooms with a Lagoon or Theme Park View and there are no king beds in Hawaii Club Level."
(I'm sure some of the suites in Tonga also have King beds.)

I forgot the music! I love sitting with the sliding door open so I can hear the music.

Trying to avoid creating yet another thread asking to help me choose a resort, but suffice it to say that we are comparing the Poly CL to AOA FS for next summer for 5 of us. We're taking our teen niece and nephew with us for their first onsite stay. All 3 kids are leaning toward AOA for the themes of course. We've been spoiled by the WL of late as we spend a lot of time at MK, but don't want the villas and the Deluxe CL is more than we want to pay if possible. We've always thought about trying the Poly for the location, transportation options, amenities, etc. I do have some concerns/questions that I was hoping to get input on here. I'm worried about 5 of us sharing one bathroom, if the daybed is big enough for my almost 6 ft nephew, how far Hawaii is from the GCH and transportation, access to laundry facilities (read the facilities are minimal and not centrally located) and if the CL lounge is close to the Lava pool (for easy snack/beverage grabs)? Summer is our absolute last choice for time of year to visit (we'd be happy as clams in jeans and jackets in December and January), but it's that or the niece and nephew can't go. So, while I want to make this mostly about meeting the kid's wishes...I also want to have as many conveniences as possible to keep the adults from melting down (literally and figuratively). I'd appreciate anyone chiming in on the Poly specific questions!:thanks:

Granted I drink the kool-aid but for our family, there is no debate, Poly all day long, especially Poly CL. Here's my best attempt at your specific questions:

- I can see why 5 in a room would be a concern at Poly. Personally I think staying CL makes this much more manageable since you have the lounge space to use. For example, you can hang out in the lounge when others are getting ready, or still sleeping, etc. The Poly CL lounge never closes so it's an ideal "extension" of your room space. 5 in a room is still tight for some folks, but at least the lounge gives you another place to be.

- I don't consider Hawaii far from the GCH or transportation. Compared to AOA, the overall Poly grounds are TINY. It all depends on your definition of a "far" I guess but we very much enjoy/appreciate Hawaii's relatively central location. Just steps from both pools and easy walk everywhere else.

- Laundry - you do have to walk to another building that's closer to the bus stop, but again, not a far walk at all. Machines have an app to track the time so you don't have to sit around waiting. We don't always do laundry but have a couple of times and it's always been a fine experience.

- Yes, CL lounge is close to both pools. Just steps away. That's a big draw for us.

Whatever you decide, hope you have a great trip.

Well done on providing answers!:thumbsup2 Much appreciated! The Poly really is the option to take the sting out of going in June. It's down to bathroom battles and daybed size I guess.:scratchin

Thanks for this. We are looking forward to all of those things!

Hello!
I apologize if this is been asked here many many times before, but this is our first visit to wdw and are staying at the Poly. I have a question I was hoping someone here could answer! We have a few PPO ADRs both at the MK and at EPCOT. I have read that there are character breakfast buses that stop at the resorts as early as 630. Is this true? Also, is this true for both MK AND EPCOT? TIA!!!!

Can't wait to be on a boat to MK :cloud9:

The buses "start running at 6:30", yes. But when a bus to the park you're going to arrives at your resort is another matter. (This is true at all times of day.)
Be sure to leave yourself plenty of time :thumbsup2
**Several posters on this thread have mentioned having to get taxis/Uber to their early Epcot breakfasts.

From the Polynesian you will also (hopefully) have boat and monorail service to the MK. Will they be running early enough? Pick up a transportation schedule when you arrive.
Have fun! :cutie:

Am I the only person who feels that if you're paying $$ for the Poly, you shouldn't have to worry about transportation? Not that $12 for a cab is a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but still. Disney promotes transportation as a benefit to staying on site, and I don't want to have to worry about how to get to breakfast on vacation. I may be in the minority here...

I couldn't agree more! One of the main reasons we chose to stay at the Poly is for the convenience of transportation. I too have small children and wouldn't feel comfortable using a cab without car seats. I also think they could notify people prior to booking that parts of the monorail may be down. I was between Poly and BC, but chose the Poly due to the convenience of the monorail. We are going in September and luckily don't have any early ADRs, but I am worried about getting to Epcot for our afternoon/early evening ADRs.

You will have no issue getting to MK. There is the resort monorail, or boat from Poly if the monorail is not running. You could also walk to TTC and catch a bus or ferry to MK.

Epcot is another story. My last 2 stays there have been no Epcot busses running to the Poly, even before the Epcot monorail starts running (which is 8 am). Depending on the time of your ADR, you may need to catch a cab.

You shouldn't have any problem in the afternoon or evening. It's just pre-8 am that has given us issues.

Two things: a question and a map

Question: in the DVC studios, is there a retractable clothesline in the tub area?

A map: this link was sent to my in an email about our upcoming Poly arrival - it's the resort map. I found it helpful and I hope someone else finds it useful, too!

I can't answer about the clothesline, but wanted to say thanks for sharing the map :flower3:.
