It goes in the water. If I remember correctly there is still access to the water from one of the buildings or the Bungalows. A CM could do it.

While a nice thought, anything that encourages people to go near the water right now, under the circumstances, is a pretty bad idea.

We are planning a trip for fall/winter 2017 and are between the Poly and the Grand Floridian. It seems like the Poly is way more popular though (it always seems to be sold out when other deluxe resorts have availability for all rooms), does this seem right? Is it really that popular or does it only sell out as it gets closer to the date?

have only heard that the "what's biting" signs have been removed, nothing about canceling the excursions altogether?

This is in the Dis Closing and Rehab section:
Walt Disney World announced that all resort beach areas are not available to guests. All watercraft is running. Guests can rent pontoon boats and Boston Whaler boats but the Sea Raycers are not available. If you have a fishing excursion before 9AM on Seven Seas Lagoon or Bay Lake they have been cancelled. Guests are not allowed to fish using their own equipment on any resort waterway at this time. Movie Under the Stars at the resort will be shown indoors, instead of outside. Keep checking here for further updates.

Can anyone confirm first hand that the resort launches and the friendship boats in the Epcot area are running again? We head down on Saturday for a split stay between Wilderness and Poly. Thanks.

Did movies really have to be moved INDOORS? They couldn't do them in the pool area or on a nice grassy area? That's kind of dumb.

Do folks like ground floor or third floor rooms? I am hoping to get our request of Samoa, but since that longhouse is really popular, is Niue a good back up? We plan to go to bed on the early side, but also want to be closer to the pools since our kids are still younger and will need a break every day from the parks. aotearoa seemed peaceful, but worried it is too far a walk from things. Appreciate the input!

I prefer an upper floor to ground floor :).

35 Days! Disney On! pixiedust: for all the amazing trips about to happen!

Your trip will be here before you know it! :yay:

We are planning for May 2017!!!!!

It seems far off, but it will be that time before you know it! Enjoy the planning :wizard:.

I think both are equally popular as both are great resorts with beautiful/relaxing atmospheres. The Poly is our favorite, but the GF runs a very close second :goodvibes.

What is the cut off time for children at Trader Sam's? 8 PM? And is that true of the patio as well, or just inside? TIA! 13 days to go.... And looking forward to hippopotomaitai when I get there!!

From the Disney website: "Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto welcomes the whole family—including children—from opening until 8:00 PM. After 8:00 PM, only Guests 21 years of age or older may visit."

Kids are allowed outside on the Tiki Terrace anytime :)

Have a great trip!

Hello Poly Peeps,

In a magical twist of fate, we are switching our reservation from All Star Sports to the Polynesian for a 5 night stay this Aug./Sept. It will be myself, my son, and my mom. It was originally just my son and I which is why we were going to stay in a value, but now my Mom is coming and she spends a lot of time at the hotel so we chose the Poly. Last August, the 3 of us stayed at BC. We loved it, but Poly has been on my Disney bucket list and I've never seen my Mom so excited. She has been texting me about Trader Sam's and Dole Whips, and using lots of palm tree emojis, lol! We got an amazing deal through an agency exclusive offer that we just could not turn down ($238/night including taxes for a standard view).

I think I may request ground floor in Raratonga to make it easier for my Mom to get around. Does that sounds like the right idea?

JMHO, but I think a lot of people were scared away during the couple of years of Poly construction. Those folks are now coming back to the Poly. Plus, a lot of first timers wanted to wait until the construction was (nearly) done.

Did they really move the movies at Poly indoors?
When we were there a few weeks ago, we watched them on the grassy area right near the entrance to the Great Ceremonial House, which is not near the beach area at all. That sounds extreme if it's true.

We had a ground floor room in Rarotonga and LOVED the location - only a few steps away from GCH, super easy to get to transportation.

I really hope they continue the movies outdoors.
