In light of this, I hope they do an exceptional job this year for 4th of Juky keeping non-resort guests OUT. Imagine the chaos and masses of people if they continue to have lax security and the masses now try to collect on grassy areas and walkways since they can't go on the beach.

WOOO! I'm down to double digits today! :dogdance:

:banana::banana:

I asked because I am concerned that they are going to confuse me as a DVC member even though I did not book this trip on points---we are DVC but not using points for this. I guess we will see, so looking forward to this trip and I am thrilled to check out the studios!

I hope you have a great time and don't have any trouble getting daily housekeeping :wizard:.

We leave for the Poly in less than 48 hours.... I'm trying to regain my usual pre-Disney excitement, but this trip definitely feels sedated. I'm hoping the Disney Magic is still alive and well.

Hope you have a great trip :).

One week from today we check into the Poly! We arrive tomorrow and will spend the first part of our trip at the BC. We can't wait!

A great split, the best of both worlds! Have a great trip :wizard:.

Sorry if this has been posted recently.

When I added our extra night I noticed that with 3 adults it was an extra $25 a night at the deluxe resorts. However I did not have to pay extra for the Poly DVC studio room.

I am so heartbroken over the recent tragedy at the GF. We are a true Disney family, DVC members who vacation there every year. We have always stayed at AKL/AKV, but decided to book a lake view studio at the Poly this summer to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We leave in 9 days, and for the first time ever I feel a bit unsettled. I want to immerse myself in the usual joy, excitement and anticipation of an upcoming Disney vacation, but I can't help thinking about the devastating loss of the Graves family. It's just unimaginable.

We are not canceling our vacation, because we understand that horrible accidents happen and life is for living, but I am wondering if the Poly will still be magical in the wake of this tragedy and without the use of the beaches or boats. We used an awful lot of points to stay there over the 4th of July, and I guess we'll still be able to see the fireworks from our room, but had looked forward to a special experience. To those who know and love resort... would you have second thoughts about staying there in the very near future?

Not at all. Go and enjoy and be thankful that you can.
I assume the boats will be back in use within 9 days? Also, since the beach is really for looks more than anything (no swimming), hopefully the loss of it won't ruin your vacation. If it will then you should definitely try and switch resorts.
Being sad for and keeping the family in your prayers is certainly human nature.

We leave in 15 days and are a bit unsettled too. We had planned to watch fireworks from the beach during the holiday weekend, and now don't know if the beach will be open, let alone whether we will feel comfortable being on it if it is!! I have 2 small children and they have spent many days wading in that lagoon. Terrifying to think that could have been us. I have considered changing resorts, but I think we will just Disney on and try not to dwell on it. But it's definitely put a damper on my excitement, so I understand what you're feeling!!

We leave in the morning, and I have to admit...I'm super anxious. I feel apprehensive , which is totally foreign as this is our 13th trip to Disney, my energy is just down. I hope it still feels the same when we arrive. I'm trying to get excited but it's just not quite the same. I hope it gets better. I hope you have a great trip too! I just wanted to empathize with you and send Happy Place thoughts

Thank you for sharing... and letting me know I'm not alone! Disney is my "Happy Place," and my spirits are dampened this year. I'm feeling a little sad, a little nervous, even a little guilty. I know that sounds crazy, but my heart just hurts for this family and all of the Orlando families that recently lost loved ones.

But as another poster said, we'll "Disney On"! I wish you and your family a magical trip!!!

Yes, we'll "Disney On" too! Thank you for the reply. Somehow it feels better to share with my Disney peeps. I knew that someone would understand. I wish you and your family a wonderful, magical trip!

Thank you mousestruck! I feel exactly the same way(I totally understand the guilt too). I've always loved my Happy Place too, I'm trying to stay upbeat and excited for my kids but my heart is heavy. I hope once I'm there, the old joyful feelings will return. You are not alone. Enjoy your trip as much as you can, I will try to as well. Thanks for your kind words!
