Hi All you Poly People!
My hubby and I decided yesterday to make our 25th wedding anniversary and Christmas presents to one another a couple's trip to WDW the first week of Dec.
A little history (necessary for accurate recommendation question below):
I had a pin code email and went for the cheapest resort, which is pretty much how we've done the last few trips, slowly working down from the early family trips at Wilderness Lodge (anyone remember the Magic Kingdom Club card available to government employees? Got a $144 a night courtyard view and thought "how outrageous!" even at that price. Ah, innocence.)
Similar deal at the Boardwalk the following trip. But later trips, we went to the Moderates, worried at first how not staying at a "Deluxe" would impact our enjoyment. (Surprise: it didn't.) Our favorite was POFQ. But we enjoyed Riverside and Coronado Springs stays as well.
On our Jan. 2014 trip, we stayed at POFQ until the very last night of our trip, when we used a comped night for a Theme Park View at the Polynesian (Tuvalu 3408)
Our view from that one night stay was glorious and I was worried we'd be ruined forever staying cheaper and smaller!
I miss that Lobby!!!!!
from our balcony
By the way, this is all that existed of the Bora Bora Bungalows at that time:
And this was still the lobby
Sunrise the next morning from the balcony:
All of this to say, WOW WOW WOW how we loved our one night at the Poly.
But then the family trip came around Dec. 2015 and I booked cheaper still, at All Star Sports. And we had a great time.
All of this to say, when we decided yesterday to book, I used my pin code for All Star Movies for the week in Dec. that worked best for hubby and I work-wise to be away.
And an hour later it hit me.
That's Pop Warner Week.
Oh, hell no.
And I took that as a sign, used the pin code again to modify our reservation, and just went for it.
We're staying at the Poly!
Sure, the pin code was only for a standard room which, c'mon, I was about to stay at ASM! ANY room at the Poly will be paradise comparitively!
But, since our single night experience was in a Theme Park View room, I'm curious, knowing that back story, if there's a standard view longhouse you'd recommend for us, knowing that we don't care about having any proximity to the pool, but would prefer quiet, and a balcony to sip coffee and watch the sun rise? (Granted, not with the castle in view.)
Thanks for any recommendations!
