One thing to be aware of for the location recommended on the second floor of the GCH is that if you are there when breakfast is going on, that area won't be quiet. You can check the times for breakfast online, and maybe you mean much earlier, but thought I would mention that. Another option away from restaurants etc would be the tables in the area by the grills etc for the DVC buildings. If I recall correctly they are large tables and no one will be there in the AM. These are tables that are a height better for working on a laptop, since they are designed for eating, and not the short tables you will find in other areas.

Funny you should mention this because our oldest DS had some work/business calls to make. Most were early morning, so he used a quiet spot in the lobby, then he found some shade at the Oasis pool at a table with umbrella early as well. ENJOY the beautiful Poly!::yes::

You might want to consider taking the monorail to the CR. Down on the floor with the conference rooms, it's VERY quiet.

Thank you all for your suggestions, they are greatly appreciated.

Completed my online check in. 43 more days until our first stay at Poly!

:yay: :yay:

Hi All you Poly People!

My hubby and I decided yesterday to make our 25th wedding anniversary and Christmas presents to one another a couple's trip to WDW the first week of Dec.

We're staying at the Poly!

Sure, the pin code was only for a standard room which, c'mon, I was about to stay at ASM! ANY room at the Poly will be paradise comparitively!

But, since our single night experience was in a Theme Park View room, I'm curious, knowing that back story, if there's a standard view longhouse you'd recommend for us, knowing that we don't care about having any proximity to the pool, but would prefer quiet, and a balcony to sip coffee and watch the sun rise? (Granted, not with the castle in view.)

Thanks for any recommendations!

I agree with the pp on Fiji. We've never stayed in that longhouse, but reading reviews and seeing pics from others who have, it looks like a quiet and peaceful location with beauitful views. Have a great trip! :goodvibes

Hi All you Poly People!

My hubby and I decided yesterday to make our 25th wedding anniversary and Christmas presents to one another a couple's trip to WDW the first week of Dec.

A little history (necessary for accurate recommendation question below):

I had a pin code email and went for the cheapest resort, which is pretty much how we've done the last few trips, slowly working down from the early family trips at Wilderness Lodge (anyone remember the Magic Kingdom Club card available to government employees? Got a $144 a night courtyard view and thought "how outrageous!" even at that price. Ah, innocence.)

Similar deal at the Boardwalk the following trip. But later trips, we went to the Moderates, worried at first how not staying at a "Deluxe" would impact our enjoyment. (Surprise: it didn't.) Our favorite was POFQ. But we enjoyed Riverside and Coronado Springs stays as well.

On our Jan. 2014 trip, we stayed at POFQ until the very last night of our trip, when we used a comped night for a Theme Park View at the Polynesian (Tuvalu 3408)

Our view from that one night stay was glorious and I was worried we'd be ruined forever staying cheaper and smaller!
I miss that Lobby!!!!!:(

All of this to say, WOW WOW WOW how we loved our one night at the Poly.

But then the family trip came around Dec. 2015 and I booked cheaper still, at All Star Sports. And we had a great time.

All of this to say, when we decided yesterday to book, I used my pin code for All Star Movies for the week in Dec. that worked best for hubby and I work-wise to be away.

And an hour later it hit me.

That's Pop Warner Week.

Oh, hell no.

And I took that as a sign, used the pin code again to modify our reservation, and just went for it.

Hey guys! Just wondering if they roast marshmallows on the beach at this resort. The last couple years at WL, my kids missed out because of the construction!! It's something they've really been looking forward to. Thanks!

I am getting to stay at Poly over Thanksgiving (which is also my birthday this year!), and by the time I booked, standard rooms were all gone, and I had to do Lagoon. I was actually kind of bummed as I much prefer Standard rooms at the Poly! There really is no bad view IMHO! My favorite has been the Monorail side rooms, Aotearoa, 3rd floor with balcony. But I am a big fan of the Monorail and love that this is considered "standard".

This is exactly what I requested. Crossing my fingers...

85 days until our first Poly stay!! Bring on the Xanax!
Please tell me some interesting things to see and do there. We were there for the luau about 4 years ago while staying at POR.

Can anyone tell me what you typically see if your view is for the standard view for the DVC bungalows & villas? I will be staying in November for my first DVC trip.

We have stayed at the Poly 3 times and have always stayed in Tahiti. Well now it is renamed and is a DVC and not available. Where is a good place to stay for a standard room? Should I even make a room request? Are there any bad spots at the poly? We are also requesting a microwave. We will be going in July. Thanks

DVC standard studio vs. regular standard room?

I know this question is asked fairly often but for those who have stayed in both what do you prefer. Trip will be me, DH and DD(8). I am leaning towards a studio since having a balcony is my #1 priority for a room request (vacation to me is coffe on the balcony in the morning and a glass of wine out there in the evening!). The layout does look cramped though compared to normal rooms. We usually stay at the WL but with the construction there and the fact that staying at a monorail resort is my 1985 dream come true I figure it is time to try something new!!

Our favorite is Fiji. One side is a view of the marina, the other the beach and GF.

Moorea - garden
Tokelau - garden or Oasis Pool
Pago Pago - garden or parking lot

I almost wanted to put in my request "no parking lot view" as my priority. We've stayed in Moorea twice, once a SV and then a LV but I'm going for Tokelau this time. Three more sleeps here until we arrive!

Before DVC I've always requested Samoa pool side! This has always been our favorite because of its central location and view. I think only once in six trips we didn't get it. You don't even hear the pool noise when the patio door is shut, however we could hear the water pageant and fireworks.
