First time staying at poly is aotearoa a good request for standard view? Or is another building better. Going end of Feb beginning of March.

My family stayed in that longhouse during Easter 2015. We loved it! It was a quick walk to the pool, the GCH & transportation. I had requested the 3rd floor, which was granted and we had a nice view of the monorail. We'll (hopefully) be back at the Poly this coming May and this is definitely one of the longhouses I will list on my request.

Thank you for sharing. We live in a home that was just built and are surrounded by construction noise all day. I was hoping by selecting aotearoa that it would a little quite but a short walk. I did request a third floor. I had made a mistake with online check in and didn't do my research until after and hit hawaii because it's the only on Dh and myself could pronounce hahahaha. The cm was so nice when I called in we both laughed at my mistake and when she heard what were celebrating she said she would put a special request for a pv room?? No clue what that means. But after the year I have had with my health and now recovery I will be happy with just relaxing and being with my little family.

What is a good longhouse to request if we are staying in a DVC deluxe studio? I know there are only a couple to choose from, but I have no clue which one:) TIA

Poly newbie here! Thank you so much for this thread..I have spent the last 2 hours reading and enjoying what everyone has to post! I am so excited to say we are finally staying at the Poly for the first time in May! My hubby wants a marina view (he's obsessed with boats lol), and I booked a standard view room for this reason. I was looking at the Tikiman's website, and it looks like the Fiji longhouse will be the best one to put in a request when I do the online check in. Can anyone confirm that it's the best one? I will also request a third floor room, as I would love to have a balcony. :) Thanks in advance!

You are going to love the Poly! I think Fiji is a great request. We've only stayed in Samoa, but Fiji has some great views :goodvibes.

I arrive at the Poly 4 weeks from today! I told Disney on the phone I wanted TPV, Tuvalu, 3rd floor. Do I need to check in online now and request that again? I thought it was best to check-in in person early on arrival day. This is our first Poly stay!

You will be checking into the Poly before you know it :yay:.

We've never done OCI as I like checking in at the resort, so I'm not sure what making requests again through OCI would do. With that said, if you get assigned a room that doesn't meet your requests, you can always ask if a different room is available. It's not guaranteed that your room can be changed, but it never hurts to ask! Hope you have a great trip :wizard:.

I am planning on arriving early morning around 7am, and wondering if the Poly does early checkin before 3pm. If not, has anyone had any bad experiences with leaving their luggage with the bell service? Or if you prefer to use DME for luggage delivery?

Also if I plan to use the pool before checkin does the poly have showers? Or do I need to walk to GF to use their health facilities?

Thanks.

You can check in as early as 6 am, which is when the computers roll over for the day. If your room isn't ready, bell services will hold your luggage. We've used bell services a few times and have never had any trouble. We've never used DME, but your luggage will be delivered to the resort 3-4 hours after check in at the resort. I think there are showers by the pool, but I'm not certain. Hopefully others will be able to say for sure :).

Welcome! I was a Poly newbie myself, and we changed that this past summer on our first family trip to the World. Now, my kids think Disney IS the Poly, and any time we talk about returning, they only talk about staying at the Poly. We've trained them well!

The Poly is amazing, glad you enjoyed it! We have enjoyed trying other resorts, but the Poly remains our favorite. Everything about it is great and you can't beat the beautiful tropical atmosphere :goodvibes.

Hey all, First time at Disney and we chose the Poly and cant wait ! Will be there during Easter for 7 nights. I booked 2 nights on the Disney site and 5 on Orbitz and it looks like I will have to change rooms. First two nights are at the Villas & bungalows and the other 5 are at the village resort.. Didn't know there was a difference until now. It will be me my wife and two children 5 and 2. Any rooms or requests you think I should make?

We've only stayed in Samoa and loved it! It's in a great location as it's just steps from the pool, the GCH, Captain Cooks, and the beach. Hopefully others will give their opinion and maybe make some suggestions for your first two nights DVC :wizard:.

We've never stayed in that longhouse so I can't comment, but wanted to say I hope you have a great trip and enjoy the Poly :).

Doing our first ever DVC stay this coming summer. Split stay for 4 nights in an AKL Savannah View Studio, followed by 3 nights in a Poly standard studio 6/29-7/2. Newbies for both resorts and so excited to get this train rolling!

I think that's a great split! We've stayed at both resorts (regular rooms, not DVC) and love them both for different reasons. Hope you have a great trip :goodvibes.

I hope that whatever health issues you've had are now behind you . I think you made a great choice in the Poly as it's an awesome resort with a beautiful, relaxing atmosphere :goodvibes.

I can't help as we've never stayed DVC, but hopefully others will be able to help :flower3:.

Yup. You can buy half gallons of whole, 2%, skim and lactose free milk at the resort.

Thanks!

They have 1/2 gallons at the Mercantile on the 2nd floor of the lobby. Check the dates. When I was there they were expiring the NEXT DAY. I told the CM working there that was going to shuffle through them, and I found better dates toward the back of the fridge... she wasn't thrilled with me, I don't think, but we were there for four nights and I didn't want old milk!

Thanks!

The Poly does have showers at the main pool. Behind the water fall in the volcano there are bathrooms that also have changing areas w/showers.

Have a great trip!

We will staying in the Hawaii longhouse, Garden view room in August. I was thinking of requesting a ground floor room thinking that it would convenient and give the feeling of having a bigger patio area. Should I request ground floor or third floor? Is there a lot of noise with ground floor rooms?

Hi everyone! I`m sure this has been asked several times but I couldn`t find the answer with a quick search. When is the construction at the Poly expected to be completeÉ I am considering an August trip; do you expect the east pool will be ready by thenÉ Also, if anyone knows how to make my question mark turn back into a question mark instead of a french accented E that would be great too. :) lol

2 weeks until our Poly CL stay!!! We've done Poly several times and keep coming back...it's our favorite. We are so spoiled by the convenience. Can't wait to watch the fireworks from the lounge!!!

Please bear with a total newbie here! We've done six trips to Disney--first three were in Value resorts, last three were at POFQ. Then I heard about a magical deal and can't resist staying at Poly this August! But this opens up a whole new world!

I've booked a standard room. Am I right that that means the following longhouses: Aoteoroa, Fiji, Niue, Rarotonga, Samoa, or Tuvalu? If so, are there any real standouts? I know it's the Poly, so you really can't go wrong and everyone has their preferences.

And do they all have patios on the first floor and balconies on the third, with nothing on the second floor? With the values and moderates, of course, we never had outdoor space so I definitely want to be able to take advantage of that. Can I make the request of not a second floor? I'm sure that's very popular.

The one thing I'm disappointed at, though, is no separate sink area to the bathroom. At POFQ, you have the toilet and tub shut off with a door, then the sinks with a curtain separate from the main room. Makes it so much easier when four of us are trying to get ready in the morning! I'm sure we'll make due but I was just really surprised.

I'm sure I'll have a million more questions before August so thank you all in advance!

I'm getting ready to do online check-in and I wanted to see if anyone that has stayed in the Rarotonga longhouse can share their experiences?

Also, I think the children's splash area was added to the Poly since we last visited in 2012. I do remember a smaller area with water squirting from the ground from our last visit. I was looking for more information on the new splash area and maybe some pictures if anyone has them?

Thanks! :-)

Mom2AidanAndEli...

We stayed in a standard/garden view room in Aotearoa on the August deal you are speaking of :)
Loved it! Steps from GCH, a stroll through the marina to the boat to the MK and main pool. And the view was awesome - third floor facing the Luau Cove and GF. We watched Wishes from the balcony & could hear the Opening Show/Rope drop in the mornings!
We had originally been assigned a room on the opposite side of the hall - facing the monorail... I innocently mentioned that we had hoped for the other side of the building & with a smile and a few computer clicks, we were pixie dusted. ;)

Our view...

A deluxe studio will fix the bathroom problem for you. I'm sure Disney will release a deal for a studio between now and August. Enjoy your planning...your 180 day window is coming up!
