Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions

Just returned from a week stay at the Poynesian, Samoa, pool side! (May 27 - June 3) Loved the location for a great view and close to Great Ceremonial House! However, if you have napping children or like to go to sleep before 11pm, the noise level from the pool could be too much. There are a lot of fences up, but walkways were open to get where we needed. East (quiet) pool was still open! Resort seemed less crowded than I would have thought. Probably from the construction scare and there were buildings being rehabbed. Thought attendance at parks would be a little lighter since a lot of schools in USA weren't out yet, but parks were terribly crowded! Just had to make use of EMH! Extra evening hours were more crowded than morning! Still think the Polynesian is the best place to stay!

If you book through orbitz, does it change your address to some new address (for magic band shipping) in MDE? This is my first time not booking through Disney and I just linked tickets in MDE and I went to customize our magic bands and it had a shipping address in Chicago! It also already had a card listed in my name (so now there are two). We last visited in 12/2014 but no one else in the family already had a card listed. Anyone else experience this?
When you do MB's correct the address to yours. Then when online check in correct address again. The savings are worth it:)

Thank you for your suggestion. I do want to stay in Samoa but....doesn't the pool close pretty early? Was there still a lot of noise? Did you hear noise from Trader Sam's?

Question for avid Poly fans...is there a microwave at Captain Jack's that people could use to heat something up?

Pool closes at 11pm currently. I stayed in Samoa last week as well on the main pool side, and I didn't hear any noise from Trader Sam's from our room.

Yes, all the food court area's in the resorts have microwaves and toasters for guests to use. :)

Then we're bringing popcorn!!

I see on the amenities list you can request a microwave for your room, has anyone done this? Did you do it in advance or when you checked in? (ODD loves oatmeal for breakfast!)

Also can I get things like a half-gallon of milk and yogurts at the shop? How are prices. We'd like to have milk and some morning food in the room for sure (gotta keep the littles hAppy while we get ready). I'm debating if we should do Garden Grocer or just pick up a few things at the resort shop.

You can request a microwave at checkin or when you get to the room. If they don't have one let them know your willing to wait for the next available. If your staying Ina DVC you have one so hopefully since three buildings plus the bungalows are DVC your odds just went up.

The gift shop upstairs has some grocery items including milk and limited yogurt. I'm there next week I'll try to remember to take a photo.

I'm thinking since DVC has opened up they'll have a larger food selection. But all resorts have a small grocery section in resort shop. And the DVC resorts more so. So you could also hop on the monorail to check GF & CRs supplies!
We've packed instant oatmeal.

Thanks! We're definately packing oatmeal, granola bars, etc. With a preschooler and a toddler having food readily available is importanr :) Last time we were at BWV so I took a hike over to The Hess station during naptime one afternoon and picked up a few things - nice little walk.

Curious about 2nd floor rooms without full balconies. Can someone tell me if you are able to stand on them at all? I certainly know a chair can't fit out there, but I really can't gauge the size/depth from the pictures I've seen. Pictures, descriptions, welcome! Thanks!!!

Sorry but no you can't stand. It is just a sliding door that opens with a rail right up against it. The only advantage is that you can open to listen to the sounds of disney or check the temperature. I have put the desk chair and rolling table from under desk in front of it and that is a nice spot for viewing the grounds:)

Moorea 3006...I believe that this is standard..saw a pic somewhere and this room seemed very nice...Anyone have any pics?
Also, isn't one side of the building closer to "horn noise" than another?:confused3 TIA!:goodvibes:wave:
