Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions

I can't share details about specific projects but the permits are public knowledge that indicate projects all over the resort and Disney has sent out letters that indicate construction until early 2016.
I just got one of the letters today from the GM at Poly. We're going in October. It indicates that the East Pool will be closed from mid-April through early 2016. In addition, pathways and buildings may be closed. Construction will be taking place although noise won't start until after 9 am.
It sounds like they took a small break once the DVC side and Lava Pool opened, but now that they are open they are tackling the other projects on the West side of the resort.

So it sounds like the people who are there right now had the timing just right...

So construction on the west side....where everyone seems to be requesting rooms to get away from the east pool construction?

I originally had BC booked but decided to do the Poly since the lava pool was open. Now I'm wondering..........

Nope, the letter did not say West side. That I got from the person with the Cherry picker in front, there's construction going there now. The letter only said walkways and buildings may be closed, the East Pool closed, and no early morning noise. I'm going to post the letter.

I received a letter a few weeks ago too. I thought maybe you got different letter. Seems we got the same letter.

I just posted it. Is it the same letter? It makes it sound like the only construction is the East Pool, but the reports are that the buildings on the other side are also having work done.

Yup same letter.

I guess it's just a waiting game now.

Why all the monorail issues? Is this specific to the Poly or everywhere?

You'd think that they'd be able to do maintenence at times that at least allow people get to their early morning ADRs and/or EMH, and especially RD! A 9 o'clock start is ridiculous. Especially when we are paying to be on a monorail resort!

I haven't heard of any current monorail problems, hopefully someone who is there right now can give us an update.
But last week Disney did shorten monorail operational hours for the summer.
Here is the new schedule.
http://www.wdwmagic.com/transportat...ney-world-monorail-system-operating-hours.htm

The link you posted says monorail hours are adjusted through to July. Hopefully then, we can assume that it will be up and running on a regular schedule in August. Or does Disney have a habit of posting further extensions to less than cheerful events like this to make people less anxious?

I would assume that the monorail refurbishment will continue past the summer. It's just that they announce periodically what the reduced schedule will look like. Here is a thread from last spring that discussed reduced monorail hours:

OK, switching topics from reduced monorail hours and construction to more positive conversation topics, how far is Trader Sams from the a Lava pool? Would the pager work over there? Thinking it may be nice to wait in a lounger for a spot.

Not far at all, might work depending on the range they get? I thought I read that someone did that, but no idea where :)

Haha! YAY!

Woohoo!
Nineteen days to go and we will be in DISNEY WORLD!!!
No better feeling than walking towards the Poly entrance and you are silently (hopefully silently;)) screaming "I'm at the Polynesian and I'm really staying here"!! :dance3:
LSpell619, did you get all your dining reservations and fast passes that you wanted? Hopefully you are all set and all you have to worry about is packing! Have a great trip!

Yes! I've had my ADRs set for a while now. We like to have a very relaxed vacation. Sleep in, grab some breakfast at Kona/Captain Cook's and then head into the park around 11. Then around 4 we come back, swim/nap and go to a sit-down dinner at 7ish! First night we will celebrate with a late-night 'Ohana dinner!

You'll be there so soon! Can't wait to read of your adventures!!!
party: :jumping1: party:

I'm so excited! Going to work every day is killing me though, I'm ready to go NOW!! Haha :)

7 weeks to go until we check in Poly CL! We can't wait!

Does anyone know if they are still doing hula lessons in the GCH? What about the torch lighting ceremony?

Thanks! I'm just working on our resort-time plans!

So, really, we may not know if the Poly will have limited monorail access until it's too late to switch our reservation to another resort that has functional transportation right? We are there Sept 8-18 and hoping that at least the resort monorail will be up and running so we can make rope drop at MK. And yes, I know that there's buses and boats. Fine, but when we're paying deluxe prices for amenities like monorail service, I expect a lot more than "reduced hours".

How early do the boats run from Poly to MK. This schedule is a little frustrating for me as I ended up going with the Poly for the monorail access because it's just dd and I. I know it breaks downs, etc. And I was ok with that, but to not run during park hours????? That's making me think of the BC too. At least I'll have easy access to Epcot and DHS. Ugh

I read this and it made me check my calendar -- we are also 7 weeks away from our Poly CL stay! 4th of July week? What view did you book? I went with LV cause we are hoping for 1st floor room.
