Moreover, online one can only choose a preference of Longhouses. The earlier to your check date yields the most options. When staying CL, the preference is which floor. There is no free form field to enter a custom request that I have seen (such as yours).

You should be covered by your Travel Agent or if your room is not assigned and text'd to you by the time you arrive, I would head to the front desk to ensure best odds. Given your request, I would do all I could myself as that is also my top priority in location

Rooms are assigned a few days before check-in, so it doesn’t matter how far in advance you make your room requests, and going to the desk won’t do any good, because the room will have already been assigned by the time you get there. If you don’t like the room you got, you can inquire at the front desk if there is something else available.

Can non-resort guests watch the MK fireworks from the Poly beach? Or are there areas there that are resort guests only? Also, any suggestions on good wheelchair-friendly spots to watch the fireworks? Most info I found predates the building of the bungalows. Thanks!

Generally, yes, non resort guests can watch from the Poly. However, there may be times when access a restricted only to guests or those with dining reservations, particularly during holidays or busy times of year.

Well, we are back from our Poly stay and I miss it already! We were lucky enough to get adjacent rooms in Aotearoa, first floor, right at the entrance to the building. So while it was noisy about 10-15 minutes after the parks would close, and the fireworks, other than that we didn't hear much if any noise. The path behind the rooms did get a lot of traffic from the sidewalk in front of Tonga being closed for the week. We had no problems with the room, or housekeeping (other than inconsistent times - some days they were there right at 8 am, other days we'd come back from the parks at 1-2 pm and the room still wouldn't be serviced). We had requested a microwave and received it about 10 minutes after checking in to the room. We enjoyed the close proximity to both beaches, the pool, and the GCH. We took the bus once to DS but other than that, it was monorail/boat to Epcot/MK or Minnie Vans around the resort. Since there were 6 of us, it was a comfortable way to get around the resort. We made it to Toy Story Land about 6:45 am one morning and were done with DHS by 10:30. The parking lot is a mess. Minnie Vans were picking up and dropping off right at the end of the walking pathway though the old bus loop, so it was convenient. The highlight of the trip for us was the Caring For Giants tour at AK - I highly recommend this! Our only complaint about the Poly was 'Ohana breakfast running so far behind, almost an hour, and then when we were seated we had lackluster & slow service. Not much of a breakfast when you're waiting for the first platter of ham, eggs, and waffles at 12:45 pm. Next trip we'll probably try another resort just to experience something different, but overall we had a fantastic stay, and I look forward to coming back again to the Poly.

Just a quick update, we did decide to take an Uber to our PPO Garden Grill breakfast. We got an Uber at 7:18a and were second in our security line. We saw the monorail coming in when they were just getting ready to open the lines at the bag check. So not terribly late but would be behind the first groups going in if that’s important to anyone.

Are the second floor rooms (without a balcony), larger than the third floor with balconies? It seems they are flush, including the balcony, so do the 2nd floor have more indoor space?

Not sure I follow, don't go or go? At any rate, I have personal experience going to the front desk being beneficial. As I said about the CM that let my extra person into the Reserved CL HEA area, never hurts to ask.

Going to the front desk won’t do any good in regards to your initial assignment (as the room is assigned before you arrive). If you don’t like what you’ve been assigned, you can go there and see if there’s anything available that’s more to your liking. If there aren’t any rooms available, they won’t be able to switch you.

Yes, bar soap, body wash and lotion, in addition to shampoo and conditioner.

There were also tubes of aloe and a small box with shower cap & I believe qtips. Not sure as DiL raided it each day lol

I believe it is still the H2O Sea Matine products that they use on the cruise line. We really like them.

H20 products still there 2 weeks ago

Thanks for your review. Glad you had a great time and enjoyed the Poly :goodvibes.

Also since I have read several posts regarding standard rooms, we are in Rarotonga facing the quiet pool and we are very happy with the location. My only requests were first floor patio or third floor balcony and we got a patio.

Glad you are happy with your room/location. Hope you're having a nice time :).

What time was your Ohana reservation? We had one for 8:30 am and were seated right after we had our picture taken with Pluto. We had a great experience there.

Hi! First time poster here but I enjoyed using these boards to plan my trip so I wanted to post a review here if it might help others.
Just got back from staying at the Polynesian August 25-29. Traveled with 2 adults and 2 kids, ages 6 and 7. We arrived on a super early flight on Saturday and headed for the pool (after a quick Dole whip break). We were able to find shady chairs at the Lava pool at about 10:45 with the help of a very friendly cast member. The pool area did get fairly crowded but nothing awful. After some naps in the shade and swimming we headed to Chef Mickey's for a 2pm brunch. Got our room ready text at about 1:30 on the way there. We headed back from Chef Mickey's and went to our room- Aotorea 3205. I was thrilled to get a balcony which was my main request- it had a view of foliage and the monorail. Watching the monorails go by and shouting out the color became a super fun activity! I was worried about noise from the drums at the Luau which I had experienced a few years ago from Fiji facing that side, but didn't hear much noise from them. Also the Luau doesn't have shows Sunday and Monday nights which was nice to have less overall people around the resort. We could hear nice soft Hawaiian music playing from the balcony though. We sat on that balcony a lot! I also didn't feel like Aotorea was far from the GCH at all, although we were only the 5th room down the building. Also don't miss the "other" beach near Fiji as a great place to hang out- we let the kids dig in the sand and sat and drank tea and relaxed there. Very quiet. We also checked out the Oasis pool later even though it was on and off raining/overcast.
We did MK rope drop on Sunday and the crowds were not bad- we did Space mountain, Buzz, people mover, Ariel's grotto, Ariel's ride, Dumbo (and play area!) and splashed in the splash pad all before 10:20 and jumping on the train to Splash to use our first FP. Then did BTMMRR fast pass, lunch, Haunted mansion FP, grabbed a Small World FP and headed there (the line was about 10-15 min so it was still helpful!) and the parade before heading out. Came back in the evening to do a few more rides and meet princesses.
Monday we did (almost) rope drop at AK and stayed from 8-1 doing almost everything we wanted before heading back to the resort for rest time and swimming at the Oasis pool and watching MK fireworks from the beach, plus getting marshmallows from the campfire.
Tuesday we went to Blizzard Beach which was great as well although transferring buses at AK is annoying.
While at the Poly we ate at Pineapple Lanai several times (I let it mostly melt and mixed in a mixture of coconut and regular rum and OMG!), Captain Cooks (loved the pork nachos, flatbreads were great for kids to share, and the kids egg white scramble with ham and fruit and yogurt was a great breakfast for an adult), and sat at the upstairs Kona sushi bar once (they even gave my son some extra Nigiri which was so magical!). I also had a Lapu Lapu which was STRONG but delicious. Overall we were very happy with the Poly!
Also we were offered many Lei's during our stay which also felt magical :)
Have a great trip!!
