If staying ground floor at Poly CL Hawaii, are you able to unlock and enter the room from the patio door or do you have to go inside?

You can unlock and exit the patio door, but there is no exterior way to lock it once you have exited. The only way to secure the room is to lock it from inside and exit through the building--unless you want to leave the patio door unlocked. :confused3

Staying at Poly DVC in June. I've heard it's very noisy there, is that true? Otherwise very excited! I haven't been in June yet, are the crowds crazy?
Thank you!!
Just checked out yesterday. Second time in 6 months. I'm a crazy noise person- can't sleep with ANY noise. I read reviews about noise and I don't get it. I did hear a little one running above us one morning and doors slamming. But other than that, nothing. It was quiet. Didn't even hear the boat horn once.

Yup. If you don't see them out just ask. If it's supposed to be a nice day they will be behind the counter. If there's storms in the forecast they'll be out. But they are always there.

Awesome, thank you!

So I've kind of read some contradicting information on here regarding this question, just trying to decide what to do... We are staying at the Studio Deluxe Villas on rented points in December. For all my other trips booked directly through Disney I've always had my room requests sentence in via Touring Plans (I have a subscription). Can I still have Touring plans send my request as long it's with the parameters of the room type we rented or do I NEED to have the owner put in requests for me??

We just returned from our first stay at the Polynesian and I really liked it! We rented DVC points and were lakeside on the first floor of Moorea. After reading the boards, I wanted to address three things that I read here and add something else that skeeved me out but wouldn't deter me from booking again (although maybe it should).
  • I was worried that the ferry horns would be an issue but they never were. They went a little later than I expected at night (maybe 11pm) but in the morning I never even heard them. I don't consider myself a heavy sleeper, but I wasn't woken up by them at all.
  • The monorail was up and working every time we wanted to use it, woohoo!
  • Tonga toast was a total and absolute let down. It was dry, barely any banana inside, just sad.
  • (this is the skeevy one) During our trip we ate at Capt. Cook's and sat inside in a booth at the corner... while sitting there a cockroach, only slightly smaller than my thumb, came out of the woodwork in the wall. It immediately disappeared but I was shocked and kind of disgusted. Are cockroaches normal for Florida? I know my friends in Hawaii call them "the ants of the island" because they're everywhere... but I really don't know what to think about that. Gross. I did immediately tell two Cast Members but I did not get the impression they took me very seriously.
Overall, I did really enjoy the Poly a lot. I'm borderline on loving it, I need to spend more time there!

Roaches and Palmetto Bugs are extremely common in Florida. When we lived there we used to call them the unofficial state animal.

Thanks for your report! How early did you use the monorail? Just seeing how things may be going in the mornings. Thanks!

Thanks for your review. One thing I love about the Poly is hearing the horns as that never gets old for me. The roach, on the other hand, would gross me out! Aside from that, glad you enjoyed your first Poly stay :wizard:.

Thanks for your report! How early did you use the monorail? Just seeing how things may be going in the mornings. Thanks!

Last week, we got the MK monorail for breakfast reservations around 7:15am. The just changed the security at monorail resorts though (where they're checking bags prior to getting onto the monorail), not sure if that will affect it at all.

I am literally sitting here dreaming about our upcoming trip in August. I am so excited to finally be staying at the Poly as I've wanted to stay here since I was 7. And to be doing CL - and celebrating our 15th anniversary!!! So excited.

DH is currently deployed, so my happy place is dreaming about this trip....August...get here already!!!!

I just googled palmetto bugs (bad move, ew) and that is actually what I saw. It's still a cockroach... a flying one. Omg, barf.

Ugh I hear you -- roaches give me the willies. I'm originally from the north (MN), but have lived in Bermuda for many years now and I *still* get creeped out by roaches. Even though roaches are extremely common here and in other humid locations like Florida, it took me a long time to understand that roaches do not equal filth or poor housekeeping. They just go where it's warm, damp, and dark (like a wall). The silver lining is that you did not see an adult-sized roach! *shudders*

We are staying on rented DVC points in a few weeks and I had the same question. I emailed Touring Plans and they assured me a request faxed through their site would work fine.

@Kuzcotopia1, I'm so glad you really liked your stay (despite the bugs and toast). :sunny:

I'm bummed to hear that the Tonga Toast is still dry. It used to be amazing, but they changed the bread supplier awhile back and pretty much ruined it. At least according to DH, who made a point of getting it on every trip, until last May when it was so bad he ended up getting it comped. The manager came out and talked to us for a long time, convincing us that they were very close to getting it right again. But that was almost a year ago, so it sounds like a lost cause.
