Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions

We are staying at the Poly for the first time (standard room) in August for our 10th anniversary. I had our TA put a request for a king, which I know isn't guaranteed. Just wondering, is that usually a difficult request to get? I know there aren't a lot of king rooms and I will make the request at online check in also, if it is one of the options.
We have requested and received a King room 3 times without any problem.

This seems sort of silly no? If they've identified a danger with being on the beach at dusk and at night, why would they make exceptions for fireworks? And I agree since they are monitoring it anyway, they should be enforcing the "guests only" rule.

We are 4 days away now from our very first Poly stay! Nervous about being trampled by crowds for 4th of July but otherwise super-excited to try this resort. We are lagoon view CL and have everything crossed for one of the 3rd floor rooms! We're doing a split with 5 nts Poly and the 4 nts BC Club level. Hope to post live so if you have Qs ask away!
See you there!! 4 days for us as well. Our first July 4th trip, and nervous about the crowds and heat, but heck, I'm in WDW! Better than being at home!!! :)

I just got an email from Disney telling me I am able to check in online for my upcoming trip next week.

Thanks to the many helpful posting in this forum, I want to ask for a specific building. When I get to the “Add Room and Amenity” page, all I’m able to choose is upper floor, lower, or near elevator. There is no way to specify a specific building. How is building selection done?

By calling the Main Reservations line and adding any requests to your reservation. This can be done any time from the day you book up until 4-5 days out.

You have found the main reason I skip the room request section during Online Check In. It is predetermined and extremely limited. They never have what we want to request as an option.

That's our thought as well. We leave tomorrow and will be there through next Wednesday. Little nervous since this is our first time down at a holiday like this but it's Disney!

That's odd. Maybe because your trip is next week.
You can see the more usual list of options in my post, #6706.

If a balcony is important, I'd click on "Upper Floor". If you'd like a patio, click on "Lower".
Regardless of what you do or not request, you can always talk to the Cast Member at check in to get a feel for where/what your room is and try and adjust to another if it seems unfavorable.
Have fun!

I definitely don't see all the building options you saw. Perhaps it's because I'm in a DVC room?

I am not a DVC member. I'm booking as a regular guest to get the extra shower (two daughters). I guess I'll try calling.

Yep. There's the difference.
Good luck! I'm sure everything will work out great.
