Well, not all of the Lake View Studios have Castle views. Consider it this way: If Disney could charge for Theme Park View, they would. They called all of this longhouse Lake View for a reason.

Yeah, but don't most? At least that's what I got from Tiki's post. Particularly upper floor?

Looks about ready, not a lot different though. 2-16

Ok, so we are staying in a DVC lakeview studio in June, but have decided to come in a night earlier due to airfare prices being WAY cheaper. Unfortunately there are no studios available for the night at this point so we are just going to book a standard room for the one night then switch over to the studio the next day. My question is where should I request a room at? Should I just be vague and request a room close to GCH and Oasis pool? Also, all the lakeview studios are in Moorea correct? How long would you stay the walk to the monorail and GCH house is from there?

Just stayed in Moorea and it's a faster walk to the ticket and transportation center to catch the monorail than to GCH. It took us about 5 minutes to get to the express monorail. It was a much longer walk to GCH monorail.

If you want to to be close to the villas for ease of move, I would just request that - "longhouse close to villas". Hopefully that will make day 2 easier for you, even though there is a chance the villa room may not be ready by the time you have to leave the other room. However, since the first room is not DVC you could request a late checkout and minimize your time without a room. This happened to us for our New Years trip. We didn't get our DVC room until 5:30 pm.

The walk to the buses is about 2-3 minutes, TTC 3-4, GCH 4-5...everything is really close. Distances may be a little different depending on you room location in Moorea. I was not a fan of the lake view room since I am a light sleeper, but the view was amazing. This year standard with the request that we are in Tokelau, furthest from the lake. :flower1:

Does anyone know about how long it's taking to work on the exterior of each building? We're taking our "dream trip" to the Poly in late August and I'm requesting Fiji. One of my favorite parts of vacation is getting up before everyone else and having my coffee on the balcony/deck while everything is nice and quiet. My luck would be that I'd have workmen right out there with me :(.

Yes, Moorea would be your lakeview room. We stayed GV last August and LOVED it!!! The walk to the TTC was incredibly quick....I'd say, 3 minutes-ish (sorry, hard to guage, I just know it was a very quick walk, quicker than walking to the GCH, with maybe 2 mins more walking time). We took the monorail exclusively from the TTC, as opposed to the GCH, for this very reason. (But regardless...lol...in the whole scheme of things, what's 2 minutes? Lol)

Rest assured, the room assigner will try to accommodate you as best as they can, so if in your request you explain the situation and ask for something closer to Moorea for the purpose of making a smoother transition to the new room, I bet you'd get it. Also, when you do your online checkin, you could request Raratonga or Samoa, possibly? They're both a little closer to Moorea. Maybe bottom floor too? And look at the rooms via the Touring Plans Room Finder and pick a room on the end closest to Moorea. Finish it all off with having Touring Plans send a fax for you, for the room you've chosen. That's everything you could possibly do. Good luck DevonsDisneyMom!! I'm sure you'll have a fabulous time even if that one-night room is way over by the Grand Floridian!

@DevonsDisneyMom, just an FYI for you....I did not hear the ferry horn at all from our Moorea GV room.

I'm wondering the same. Not sure if this makes any difference, but @Cluelyss did mention that she thought Fiji was the last to be worked on, during the last round of exterior renovations. Maybe it'll be last again this time around. Raratonga, Hawaii are/were recently done/being done. So by process of elimination...

Just extended our stay by a day. Now we are doing 5 nights at ASmo and then 5 nights at Poly. Let the countdown begin.......14 days until check in!!

Hope you have a great trip! :wizard:

Aloha. I'm staying at the Poly in April with my wife and 6 year old daughter. We just found out after we booked that friends of ours will be in Orlando at the same time. They're staying off property using their timeshare for a stay at the Holiday Inn at Orange Lake. We're going to spend one full day together starting with 8am Reservations at Be Our Guest, having dinner that night at Kona then back to MK for Wishes. We'd like to bring them back to the Poly for an afternoon break. My question is as visitors what amenities at the resort will they have access to while we're killing a few hours before dinner? Is there any way their 7 year old will be able to use the pool with my wife and daughter while his parents and I grab a few beverages at Trader Sam's, either by me paying for a day pass or adding him to the room reservation for one night? Also will his parents be able to use Valet Parking at the Resort that day considering they have dinner reservations that evening with us? Thanks in advance!

There isn't a day pass that can be purchased, but as summerw posted, you can add him to the room upon arrival (or before arrival depending on what kind of reservation you have). If you have a package it's best to add him when you arrive as adding him prior to arrival he'd have to have all the package components that everyone else has. If you booked RO (no tickets or DDP), you can add him anytime as you'd be under the occupancy limit and with him being a child, there's no extra adult charge ;).

We just booked our first trip to the Poly for the last week in October. We're staying in a Deluxe Studio Villa. Is there daily housekeeping in the villas?

As the pp's said, if it's a cash reservation, housekeeping is daily. If you booked with points, it's just on the 4th day, but you can pay for daily as GraceMonica posted :).

If it's a cash reservation, it's included daily.

:thumbsup2

I could be wrong, but I think you can add him to the reservation for one night, UPON ARRIVAL. If you add him before, he'd have to have the same package options, but I've been told you can add someone the day of. That's just what I've been told though so I'd definitely check it out when you arrive.

This is correct :thumbsup2.

We are booked! So exciting. I must admit the POLY was never on our bucket list but the more I read the more excited I get. We have been to Hawaii and love it so just figured we did not need it in WDW but the pictures are changing my thinking. We love POR and BC but probably POR a hair more due to the ambiance and walking around. We are going in July a season we have never been so figured being close to parks would be best.

My big question is like most peoples, what building to request? Usually our requests is no parking lot view but from what I gather there is not much to worry about since we are not in villas. Castle view honestly is not important to us (hence why we did not book it) as I like being submerged into the ambiance of the resort. That is why we like POR.

So if you want to feel a Polynesia vibe all around you including looking out your window what building would you request? I was thinking Fiji or Somoa?

You will love the Poly! We've only stayed in Samoa and loved it! It's so conveniently located as it's just steps from the pool, GCH, Captain Cooks, and the beach. With that said, I am always reading good things about Fiji ;).

We just got back from our first visit to the Polynesian and had a great time! We were in the DVC deluxe studio and found that that the transportation center was much closer than the ceremonial house. The monorail was a huge convenience especially with a stroller...but the best part was that we found the in room dining menu offered the same meal as 'Ohana!

If you have trouble getting into 'Ohana, just order the grand feast to the room. We did and found that 1 adult portion was more than enough for dinner and lunch for my wife and I.

Glad you had a great time and enjoyed the Poly :goodvibes.

Thanks for the input on the Ohana grand feast. I've read a lot of positive reports about it, so it's on our list to try next trip :).

We are leaving in 155 days and I am so excited!! We will be staying in the DVC deluxe studios and I can't wait to see them! We were there in January for the WDW Half and went to the Poly to look around. I like the changes that were made!! The Polynesian is my favorite resort and can't wait to get home!!

Hope the time goes fast! Have a great trip.

Adding a night to our POLY stay! June 27th cannot get here soon enough!!!

Congrats......it's always nice adding a night ::yes::.

im booked in a standard view room in july what is the best section to be in to be close to the main pool, the ceremonial house and i guess the buses?

I agree with caliope on Samoa :thumbsup2.

What's the best way to request a building/floor/room? I called Disney yesterday and the cast member told me that I could request all that stuff when I arrive at the resort, but was hoping to be able to request it ahead of time.

I agree with MouseMum, add your requests now, don't wait until check in. If you don't get your request you can always ask if a different room is available, but I'd at least have your requests in prior to arrival ;).

Looks about ready, not a lot different though. 2-16

Great pics, thanks for posting :flower3:.

Yeah, but don't most? At least that's what I got from Tiki's post. Particularly upper floor?

I looked at all the lake view rooms at Moorea and since most of the trees were removed during the DVC conversion there were only two rooms that I saw that had palm trees near them. They were 2029 and 3029 but even those it did not seem like they blocked the entire view of the castle. As far as all the ground floor lake view rooms having the castle blocked, that is a false statement I often see also. There are some of the ground floor rooms that have the castle itself blocked by the roof of a bungalow but there are also some that see the castle between the bungalow. I have seen it for myself. I also just stayed in a ground floor room in Hawaii that I could see the castle completely. I shared photos of the view on my Facebook and I put them in my longhouse page albums. I will say that all the rooms facing the lake including the ground floor will see the fireworks with only those two rooms mentioned having part of the view blocked by the palm trees that are near the central entrance to the building.

They started working on Samoa last September or October and Niue just after that. Neither is a very big longhouse and it took a couple of months to complete. In January they were in process with Rarotonga and I believe they are still working on it. Hawaii garden side is in process also. There is no schedule available to the public to show when each one is estimated to complete or when the next one will start.
