to me how I would go about uploading this video so I can share it with my family.....not intending on selling it lol. I dont know if this is allowed but would love some help with it.
I cant seem to get it to upload to youtube......it doesnt come up as a single file....it is in pieces here is an example Video_TS.VOB....
I am not a COMPLETE dummy when it comes to videos - I do get our family videos onto DVDs (from mini-dv's and vhs) I just cant seem to get video from DVD to DVD or DVD to Computer or (obviously) from DVD to Youtube....
Can someone direct me or at least direct me to a website that will direct me lol!!!
I thought that you had an AVI, MOV, or MPG file. It looks like you have a DVD. That's a bit more complicated.
First, I do not know what the copyright restrictions are on a Disney Photomovie DVD, so I cannot speak to the legality or ethics of any action taken on one. Assuming that you have a valid copyright to take the actions you suggest, here is how I would do it.
First, you need some software to convert the DVD into a video file. I suggest something like Super (search on Super Video Converter). You will need that to create an AVI, MPG, or MOV file. Once you have that file, upload it to a video hosting site like YouTube.
I also do not know what the legalities of this is, but the program that i use to copy my DVDs (from my camcorder) to a format that I can play on my computer, upload to youtbe or put on my iPod is called Handbrake: http://handbrake.fr/
This works very well, I highly recommend it, note it may not copy dvds that have copy protection on them, but this is fine for personal use.
I tried searching the PhotoPass website to find out, but it turned up nothing. I would look at any ageements that came with your DVD, of course it is against the law to sell it, but what about sharing it on youtube?
It also will depend a lot on which country you live in if the agreement does state that you can't share it on the web. Perhaps someone else will know the answer.
