Disney's New "Magic your Way tickets" and 2005 Packages

Belle, I understand your headache!!! I was thinking of buying the 10 day option with the no expire feature and saving days for a future trip, but then we couldn't get the meal plan next time. But I'm not even convinced we're getting the meal plan THIS time!!! I'm actually considering getting two reservations and getting the meal plan for part of the trip and not the other part. Good luck!

The more I read, the more confused I've become.

Am I correct? We have room only booked with BDP. We do not have
park tickets yet. So to buy PAP's is approx $531 x2 = $1062. (we will be back in WDW within the year). To buy a 10 day (eventhough we will only need 8 days for this trip), Plus hopper option, plus waterparks, PI and DQ option, plus no expire option = $414.30 x 2 = $828.60. We could use 7 or 8 days this trip and have 3 or 2 for next one plus whichever pluses we do not use this trip right? but, if we go for a subsequent trip and want more days we would have to buy them plus all the extras.

So I think I've convinced myself that based on us going back to WDW within the year PAP's and whatever AP room discounts we can get are a better option for us than room only plus tickets-what is your take on this please?

No doubt-I'm almost at the point of saying "forget it" and just buying the PAP's!

I think Disney's phone lines are going to be on fire Jan 2nd - I wish I had never seen all this new stuff - Now I am super confused!!!!!

djm99,

I agree. Can you imagine the call center reservation people who are on the first shift on January 2nd. They are going to go completely nuts with all the calls they are going to get.

I know how frustrated I get when I get done with a call, hang up and then another call comes on and your still working on stuff from the first call.

I was just thinking about the meal plan some more. I wonder if they will be similar to vouchers and when you check in you'll get the correct number of vouchers per person per night. If the vouchers didn't have an expiration date, you could still share meals and have vouchers left over for a future trip. Because at the sit down restaurants if you are getting an appetizer, main dish and dessert that's way too much food for most people. I'm probably being too optimistic about this but it would sure be nice! Wonderful if it worked out to be like that!

I'm wondering if they to will use vouchers. It would be nice to buy 10 day MYW tickets and use for 2 trips. Anyone have an idea? :earseek:

Wouldn't hold your breath. The Silver and Gold plan meals go on your room key right now and I'm sure these will too as well.

I have created a simple MYW Ticket Calculator. Save it to your computer and check it out. be sure to look at the comments I added to each of the fields. With the "hopper" "Plus" and "Never Expire" questions, anything in the field is considered a "yes" answer. I fthe answer is "no" then delete what is in the field.

- If you are going for 8 days, why not get the 10 day and use the other days for the arrival and the departure days. There is only $11 difference between a 7-day and a 10-day MYW pass.
- Even if you are going to spend 5-days in the theme parks, why not get the extra flexibility of the 10-day pass for a whole $17 more? Especially if you are getting the Plus option. You get 5 instead of 3.
- If you are going for more than 1 extended trip in WDW why would you not get an AP? or PAP?
- Can anyone see an advantage to buying the "Never Expire" option? The only one I can think of is investing in a ton of 7-day never-expire passes and holding them till they increase in value more than the stock market.

What we have thought about is that it is a lot of foor for four adults to go to a restaurant and all have an appetizer, an entree, dessert etc.

Why couldnt we share it. DH and I can both eat a whole meal out of an appetizer, entree and dessert!

Just a thought...

I am considering buying the 10 day park hopper (no plusses) with the never expire option because I'm planning two trips, but the second is probably going to be 2-3 years from now. So an AP won't do me any good. If I buy the 10 day MYW, it will basically make 2 5-day adult park hoppers $180 each. My only hesitation, besides having to put up all the money now, is that I may want to book a package on the second trip, especially since I'm planning a land/sea vacation.

Woodcourt--I think you probably could share. I did read somewhere, I think Mousesavers or Allears, that if you buy the dining option for 4 nights, you get 4 sitdown dinners, etc., but they can be used anytime during your trip. So you could share 2 sitdown dinners one day. The only glitch would be if the restaurants won't let you share meals if you use this option.

EVERYONE staying in the room has to be on the dining plan. You can't have say 2 people on it, and the other 2 not on it.

Yes everyone in your room must get the dining option, but that doesn't necessarily mean you can't share a meal. Each person gets 1 counter service meal, 1 sit down meal, and 1 snack for each night you are booked in a room.

If my husband and I each have the dining plan, we could eat a sitdown breakfast, but share (obviously not buffet) 1 meal, then each use our counterservice meal and our snacks individually. For dinner, we could conceivably share another sitdown meal. That way we could have 3 meals paid for each day, instead of just two, and have two of those meals be sitdowns. I just wonder if the restaurants will let you do this.

Neat little calculator! Thanks.

Here's what I've calculated-DH and I - two 10 day trips in 2005
With all pluses, never expire, hoppers $1656

2 PAP's- $1062 and we would also be able to get AP room discounts
if available.

Thanks-you've helped me make up my mind!

Not that this will change things, but if you are doing 2 10-day trips, why get the "Never Expire" unless the 10-day trips happen over more than 14 days each? That will save a few hundred :)

without the never expire, 4 10-day, hopper, plus are $1,231.20... Still more than the Annuals.

I hope you can get annual pass rates too, saving you even more :cool1:

Hi There,

I've heard alot of debate about the MYW tickets, but nothing about room rates. I'm staying for 10 days, January 4 - 14th at the POR, and am trying to figure out whether it's better to switch over to a package deal so I can get relatively cheap eats (I'm going with my dahling boyfriend who can out eat a elephant...so it sounds cheaper).

But I'm on a winter rate of $100/night for the POR, any guesses as to whether it'll be cheaper to just add on the old tickets or the new?

...for me; I gotta decide whether or not to purchase PHP or MWY !! :guilty:

From what I and others have been told by CM's, you may be able to keep your discount code and add on the dining. We will have to wait and see.

....AKL concierge right now [to reserve my Sunrise Safari]. I'll ask
