Disney's Magical Express -- Luggage Tag Info

Magalex - I would tag the luggage, and if your plane arrives on time, or before 10, let DME take care of it. If your plane arrives at or after 10, go to baggage claim and pick it up yourself.

I just got my DME baggage tags today. I have a question. If we are just checking one bag, will they know and look for just one?

Yes. As part of the check-in process (whether at the counter or with a free-standing CM with a hand-held device), you'll be asked how many bags you checked-and-tagged.

But even if they don't do that, then they won't be "looking for" any of your bags ... they pull ALL DME-tagged bags from the rest of the luggage and send it on its way, whether they are "expecting it" or not. If it's tagged, it'll get to you.

Hello!

We are flying into MCO on Aug 3 (5:11AM). We bought out tickets through Delta - but it is operated by Alaska (which means we are on an Alaska plane). Here is the problem. When I called to book Magical Express - they have no record of the arriving flight number (a Delta flight #). Therefore, they can't issue the luggage tags or the transportation booklet.

The cast member reassured me we would be on the manifest and that we could get a ride and just give the check in desk our tags - but I'm nervous I'll get there and that won't work.

I have gone on line and looked to see if the there is an Alaska flight number - but couldn't find one!

Can anyone out there ease my worries?!

Thanks!
Tracy

I find it hard to believe they won't issue you tags without a flight number. When I book hotel and book DME, I rarely know what my flights are, so I just tell them I don't have flight numbers yet. I usually don't book flights till after my DME tags arrive, and I then confirm my return flight at the desk.

I booked last year without flight info. Updated my profile with the flight info before the tags were delivered. The tags did not have any flight info. At the chek in desk they recorded the return flght time.

Do you have your confirmation e-mail? See if there's a Delta flight with that number. If you still can't find the flight, CALL DELTA.

Delta would be the one to contact. In any case...even if you can't find a flight number (which would be extremely unusual), you should be able to get your packet and tags. I have had my booklet with completely wrong arrival info...it presented no problem at all.
But, call Delta, if you can't find a flight number on your confirmation email, and talk to them.

Thank you to all of you for the advice. Our tags arrived today - strange but true!

The cast member had told me that I wouldn't get them - I did the happy dance when I saw them in the mail!!!:cool1:

OK, I just want to clear up a couple of things, first time DME user here:

I have my tags for luggage, my booklet which I keep on me for the trip to our resort.

We are staying at YC, and have a departure flight at 4:30 p.m. I know that DMe will schedule our departure bus time about 3 hrs prior to our flight.

BUT: When we get up that morning and are ready to check out and maybe hit a last day park or downtown disney, what are the steps I need to follow. I already have EBCI for Southwest departure, so I think I'm supposed to pick up my boarding passes at the airport. Now I check out and where does my luggage go? Do I need the same booklet that I used for the first DME pickup or will they give me another one? Do I then have to get my luggage from wherever YC will hold it and get in on the bus myself? or do they do this while I'm away?

Okay.....since I'm really not all that clear on the RAC (remote airline checkin) process with SW now, I'm going to give you 'qualified' info...those who have actually used SW and RAC can make any corrections.
The morning of your checkout, you can head to the RAC counter at YC..down in the lobby area. You can then get your boarding passes given to you, and they will tag your checked bags and take them away for you and deliver them to the flight. With a 4:30pm flight, DME (which has nothing to do with RAC) will most likely give you a pickup time of between 1:15-1:45. Be back at the YC about 30 mins before the stated time...if you left your carryon bags with Bell Services, you may need 10-15 mins to retrieve those, then make any last minute restroom stops and be out at the DME bus stop no less than 15 mins before the stated time. The time you are given is NOT the time you should walk up to the bus stop...that time is the time the bus will most likely leave the YC!!!
Since your bags were handed off that morning (I like to do it by 8am), you don't have to bring your bags on the bus, and no need to check them at the airport..you can go right to security!!!!

We will be arriving in 10 days and still no ME info packet/luggage tags. Granted, I only booked the trip 2 weeks ago. When I made my ME reservations I was not given a separate confirmation number.

I realize if I do no receive my ME info before arriving I can go to the ME counter and give them my confirmation number. Is this the same number that was given to me by the CM when I booked our room and then later emailed to me? We will be arriving late and will be grabbing our own bags upon arrival but I want to make sure we have a spot on the bus.

It takes DME at least 10 days to get your packet to you, after booking. So, you may still get it. But, in any case, I would call DME just to be sure they have you in the system. Just having a room confirmation isn't going to get you on that bus. Give DME a call just to be sure....866-599-0951

Thank you for the number! I am glad that I called. The CM I spoke with said I had a reservation but no flight numbers!!! (Even though I spoke with someone previously and gave them our flight information. :headache: )

She said there is a possibility of getting the information before we leave as the CM I spoke with first did note that we would be using ME.

I think I will be stressed about this until I am actually on that bus!

Stop stressing. As long as they have you in their system, you're good to go, and you are obviously in the system.
Technically, they don't need flight numbers for your arrival flight....nice to have, but not needed.
Have a great trip!!!

So I recieved our luggage tags yesterday.. :cool1: One question.. Why did we only get one luggage tag per person and can I ask them to send me more? We're going for 10 nights and I don't dry clothes so doing laundry while at Disney isn't a great option.. We're flying SW so I don't mind a 2nd suitcase.. Are they willing to send another set or am I going to just have to give them my luggage tags when I get there? I feel much better with the yellow stickers. At least they know they are going to Disney...

We had the same situation last year...we went for 15 days...
Just call the Magic express number and they will send you additional tags.

To answer the first part of your question, since gr8tdane handled the important part so well :teeth: - now that most airlines are charging for checked luggage, and so most Guests are bringing just one (or no) checked bag each, WDW/DME is sending one luggage tag per Guest. Less waste, lower mailing costs.

Thanks a bunch.. That makes a lot of sense.. If it wasn't 11 days with a 3 y/o, 5 y/o my overoacking husband and in-laws I wouldn't need more either.. I'll given them a call when I get home..
