Disney's Magical Express -- Luggage Tag Info

Does anyone have a picture of the DME package that comes in the mail?

Here ya go..it's a business sized envelope, with all your DME stuff inside..vouchers, tags, info booklet.

Perfect - that makes it a lot easier, I am not sure where customs would be - whether in Orlando or potentially Toronto, but if I can collect the bags and take them to DME then it works either way! Thanks goofy4tink/CleveRocks.

I did a search and also browsed a few pages, but I could not find an answer.

Our party is me, DH and our 2 year old. I had to purchase airfare for her but obviously she is free in Disney's eyes. She is not listed in the book on the voucher page, and they did not send her a luggage tag, even though she will be checking a bag in accordance with the airfare purchased.

I'm not totally sure we will even use DME since we arrive at 6:30 p.m. and will be on the opposite end of the airport (schlepping at least 3 suitcases plus any carryons, plus a toddler in a stroller...) - I want to have everything put up in the room in time for a good bedtime so we can be at RD the next morning, so we will probably collect our own baggage since I don't want to wait until 11. BUT I like to be prepared for any situation, kwim? I might change my mind and decide to have the baggage service handle my bags. (Still thinking about just doing a towncar or van so give us an extra hour on departure day...decision$, decision$!!)

Bottom line, does my 2 year old have to be listed on the voucher? And can I also request a luggage tag for her? Thanks!!!:goodvibes

Call DME directly, and explain the situation to them. This is not a new situation for them. They will most likely just send you another luggage tag.

Okay, we're leaving on April 19th and still haven't received our DME luggage tags. I called today and was told that they might not show up until a week before the trip. Since I keep reading that everyone seems to get them 3-4 weeks before their date, should I call back and try to get a different person to send them out again or wait until next week and then force them to overnight them?

Call them and ask for them to be sent now. Yes, they could possibly go out a week before, but that's really unusual. The normal time for receiving them is 4 weeks prior to travel.
There is no way to 'force' them to do anything...so try not to take that tack. They will tell you that if you don't get the tags you can just give your claim receipts to the DME CM and they will send someone to grab the bags for you..which will work. But everyone likes to have their tags to put on.

I will be calling tomorrow to add DME to our reservation. We will be doing 3 continuing reservations:

2 nights Room Only
1 night on premium plan
6 nights MYW package

All of our nights are at CSR. Will I give them the first reservation number for pickup at the airport and the last reservation number for the return trip?

Yup.

I am sure this has been asked before but I could not find it with the search button ...
If I arrive after 10 pm but do NOT need my luggage until the next day (arriving that late I just want to go to bed) will they deliver it the next morning/afternoon ???
I really do not want to go down to the claim area and then over to the bus if I can help it (darn United and their late flights.)
Thanks

"I want to use the DME Luggage Service. What do I do?
The first thing you'll want to do is attach your luggage tags PRIOR to checking in at your home airport. If the tags are not on your bags before they get checked by the airline, they will not be taken care of. Once the bags have been tagged, you can bypass baggage claim completely. They will show up in your room automatically."

Is this still okay to do? We are arriving at the Orlando airport 2 hours (if everything is on time!) before we are due to register for the D23 Scavenger Hunt.
If we can just go to the ME shuttle, and not go to baggage claim, that would save us a lot of time and stress!

Thanks

I'm not sure what you're asking. Are you asking if DME still does the automatic luggage delivery? As long as your flight lands before 10 p.m., then NOTHING has changed about this service since it started in May 2005.

Sorry..I'll clarify what I'm asking. Is it still okay to not wait for your bags, but just head over to the shuttle?
You basically answered the question, thank you very much.:) I guess it just feels odd, because normally when you travel, you have to be with your bags.
This is an awesome service!

My dd and I are are arriving around 3pm and are getting a rental car-so no DME. My mom is arriving at 8:30pm that night and I thought it would be easier for her to take DME so we didn't have to go to the airport to pick her up. When I made my reservation I put in my mom's flight information. My questions are:

1. Are we able to check in to our room at 4pm even if our DME details say we aren't arriving until 8:30pm?

2. If she arrives at 8:30pm will they bring her bags to our room that late at night (11pm-12am) automatically? Will they knock on the door to our room to deliver the bags (My dd will probably be asleep by then)?

I am wondering if she should just collect her bags herself (to have her toiletries for bedtime) or we should just pick her up at the airport.

We leave for Disney on Weds, and my mom's friends are flying in the next day. We're all in different states, so my mom told me she hasn't gotten the tags yet but they're all checking luggage (I'm not), so what would they do about their bags getting to the resort (they'd prefer to have to not go to baggage claim?

We had changed resorts a week ago so we have the old vouchers, but haven't received the new ones. I assume a trip to the ME desk is in order?

Only one person per reservation will get vouchers and DME luggage tags mailed to them. It's then up to that person to distribute them to the others in the party.

I can't tell ... did you ever receive DME tags for your "old" resort? If so, those can still be used as long as the reservation number hasn't changed.

But let's just say you can't get these old tags to the other people in time. NO PROBLEM. There's been a "plan B" in place since DME began almost 6 years ago. They'll go to the DME counter at the airport with their baggage claim tickets, the cast member will ask for the claim ticket numbers as well as a physical description of each bag. You'll be sent on yoiur way to your bus. Meanwhile, a cast member will be dispatched to get your bags from baggage claim. They'll then be taken back behind the scenes at the airport, new DME tags will be printed and affixed, and then the bags will get put with all the other DME bags set for delivery.

So there's no problem at all, as long as each individual has a DME reservation.

Thanks for the quick reply. We do have the old vouchers, when I called ME about it they had said they would send new ones out but my mom called yesterday and a request for news ones was never put through so we have to go to the desk. I'll keep this info for future reference though!

I've searched old posts and am reading some contradicting information. I've also asked my friends who went last year who also contradict what I've read.

If I'm flying out from British Columbia, Canada, what is the luggage process? I've read/heard that I do need to pick up my luggage at baggage claim once I get to Orlando, but I've also read that I can just check it in with the yellow tags and forget about it and it'll make it to my resort just like domestic US flights.

Which is accurate? Or is it case-dependent? We didn't get a direct flight and will have to stopover in a couple US cities prior to Orlando if it makes a difference.

Thanks in advance for the clarification.
