Disney's Magical Express -- Luggage Tag Info

When is the best time to call and reserve your luggage tags. We leave on the 15th of September and today is July 23rd. I wanted to do it now, but my mom insists it's too early and to wait at least another week. I don't want to worry and get them in the mail at the last minute either. When should I call?

Well, I leave on Sept 4 and I'll start watching for my DME packet next week! So, I would call and make your reservation asap. You can call whomever you booked your resort stay through.

It's never too early. I reserved Magic Express when I made my flight reservations, which was 9 months in advance. They won't mail your tags out until 5 weeks in advance, but it's nice knowing that everything is taken care of. You can always call to change or cancel if your plans change.

So we get our tags today in the mail but the only one who got any on my reservation was my husband. Even though the transfer is listed for him and I on our confirmation for some reason they didn't process a voucher or tags for me. I called and the guy said that they will send out my luggage tags and that I should pick up my voucher down at the DME kiosk at the ground transportation level. Does this sound right? I guess I am worried about getting my luggage tags in time and also about being refused transportation once we get there since I don't have the voucher they send in the mail. Someone calm my fears please. I am the OCD one in the family. :scared1:

Your Disney’s Magical Express reservation has been made; however, you may not receive your Disney’s Magical
Express booklet with luggage tags prior to departure for Orlando. Please be assured that you will still be able to
utilize the service and receive the same seamless experience.
Once you arrive at Orlando International Airport, you have two options:
1) You can pick up your luggage at baggage claim and proceed directly to the Disney
Welcome Center. You will be responsible for taking your luggage with you on the
motor coach.
2) Or you may proceed directly to the Disney Welcome Center. You do not need to claim
your luggage. Disney will gather all of your information and collect your luggage for
you and then deliver it to your resort room.
IMPORTANT: Please pack any valuables, medications or anything needed immediately upon arrival into Orlando in
a carry-on bag.
Arrival at Orlando International Airport. Upon arrival, please take the tram from your gate to the main Terminal
and proceed to the Disney Welcome Center which is located on the B Side on Level 1 and bypass baggage claim.
If you arrive on the A Side, please proceed to the B Side before taking the elevator or escalator down to Level 1.
You may follow the airport signs to Ground Transportation.
At the Disney Welcome Center, please present your airline baggage claim checks to the Disney representative
to confirm the number of bags* checked as well as your return flight information. You will then board a
complimentary motor coach that will take you to your resort. Your motor coach may make up to 3 stops before
arriving at your resort.
Luggage delivery to the resort. Your luggage will be claimed at the airport and delivered to your room. Your
luggage may take up to 3 hours after you check-in to be delivered. You do not need to be in your room to receive
your luggage. Please note if you take your luggage on the motor coach it will not automatically be delivered to
your room.
Returning home. You will receive a Transportation Notice the day prior to check-out advising you of your motor
coach pick-up time and other general information. Your motor coach pick-up time is based on your
flight departure and will be approximately 3 hours prior to that time to allow for multiple stops by
the motor coaches.

I wouldn't worry. How many luggage tags did your dh get? If he got two, and you both each have one bag to check, you can use his extra tag. But, you most likely will get them in plenty of time.
As far as the voucher goes...not a problem either. On one of our first trips to WDW using DME, I was a dunderhead and packed my DME paperwork in my checked bags...had to keep them where I could find them!! When I got to the DME counter, they laughed at me and printed up vouchers for all of us.

As long as you are in the DME system, and it looks like you are, you'll be fine. But again, you have plenty of time to get the replacement packet.

Thanks, that make me feel a little better. My husband said not to worry because we have 5 and half weeks before we leave. He said they probably will print off the extra luggage tags in put them in the mail today. I guess I just didn't know how it all works and if they can send replacement ones that fast. We each will have two bags because we are using Southwest and they still do not charge fees for luggage. I just hope they come in time. I assume I was in the DME database because the cast member seemed to find me. He did not mention that he couldn't at least. Sorry it's been a rough summer (death of my father-in-law followed by the wedding of my brother-in-law) and I just want everything to go well for this much needed vacation. We have been to Disney multiple times and this is the first tme it has happened.

My mom added my wife to her solo trip two days before arrival, when she called they didn't even take her information doan, just said to explain what happened at the ME desk, they had no problem giving my wife a ride :lmao:

Please forgive me for asking a question which, has probably been covered here. But, I've skimmed the topic and don't have time to read everything because I'm busy getting ready to fly to MCO on Sat. So, I'm hoping some of you great folks can answer my questions.:worship:
1) Is it too late for me to register with DME? I plan to keep my luggage, so I don't need tags.
2) If it's not too late to register, how do I do this?

Thanks so much for any help you can give me. :goodvibes

Officially, Disney's Magical Express must be booked at least 10 days prior to arrival, but many people have reported being able to add it as late as the day before. Call your travel agent (or Disney Reservations at (407) 939-7675 if you booked directly through them) ASAP. If they can't help you, call Magic Express at (866) 599-0951.

Call whomever you booked your reservation at WDW with. They should be able to make your DME reservations for you. Or, try calling DME directly at this late date.....866-599-0951.
Usually, they like you go give them the 10 days so they can get the info packet out to you. In your case, you most likely do not have enough time..so when you get to MCO, get your bags. Then, head to Side B of the terminal, and go down to Level 1..ground transportation area. DME will be at the end of the area...pretty easy to find. Just go up to the counter and get checked in.

 Just spoke to a wonderful gal with ME and she took care of everything!
I cannot thank all of you enough. Everyone is so helpful on this site. Including the fine folks :goodvibes on the Transportation section. There IS Pixie Dust here!

We're scheduled to check into Pop Century on 7/10 but are arriving on a late (or early flight) 12:05 am 7/10. We plan to spend the first night at either the Hyatt or other airport area hotel due to the late hour.

Do you think it will be safe to tag our luggage and have DME transport them to Pop, even though we won't be physically checking in for another 12 hours. It would save us a lot of trouble, sclepping bags around. We still plan on using DME to travel from MCO to POP later that morning.

I mean, technically we'll be checking in the same day, 7/10, just not immendiately after our flight.

TIA, Steve

Just reporting back that we didn't have any problems with DME picking up our tagged bags at MCO. We were able to check the majority of our bags with DME and only took an overnighter to the Sheraton MCO. Hotel shuttled us back to the airport in the morning and DME took us the rest of the way.

Our rooms at Pop were ready at 11 am and I called Bell Services to confirm my bags were waiting for me to check in.

This worked out great for us. Disney Magical Express allowed us to relax at the beginning of our vacation and not worry about the minor annoyances of travel. Thanks to all the CMs who read this board, your hard work is appreciated! :thumbsup2

I have a question, so when you call dme directly what do they ask you, i mean I guess they ask for you hotel reservation number, but what more do they ask you for, the phone number you gave? what else?

hopefully someone understood what i'm trying to ask

They asked me for names of everyone on the reservation, the reservation number, dates of arrival, arrival airlines and flight numbers, dates of departure, departure airlines and flight numbers.
