Disney's Honeymoon Registry

I thought that word of mouth was probably the best way, but I really wasn't sure! Part of me feels kind of a little guilty about having the Disney wedding since we won't be able to have all these people there. :worried: I just don't want it to seem like "Hey! We're having a fabulous Disney wedding, but couldn't invite you! Buy us something anyway!" That's NOT who we are AT ALL, and even though I'm sure our family and friends know this and probably wouldn't even venture to think that- I'm still fearful. Maybe doing a wedding blog for those who can't join us? Again- I dunno. :confused3

Thanks for the word-of-mouth reassurance, though! I'm *sure* that the word will be spread- my mom and sister are almost as pumped as I am! :cutie:

Your guests will understand that they can't join you and I bet they are SUPER happy you're including them at the at-home reception. That's awesome of you!

It's good that your sister and mom are there for you! They will make sure word gets out...

The way I feel about the whole situation is this (and I hope no one thinks I'm a you-know-what for saying this) if you're having a small wedding at Disney then it's because it's important to you and your DF on where you get married. If you're having an at-home reception then it's nice to include the people you missed at Disney. And even if you don't have an at-home reception should you really be excluded from people wanting to buy you gifts for your wedding and celebrating your big day? I mean, people should love you no matter what and want to extend their congratulations either way and they will understand if it's a small wedding!

Did this make sense?

Hi. We're in a similar situation by having another thing at home after our Disney Wedding. So, we're trying to spread the word by mouth too. But what we did also is to make a website for our at home wedding that has our Disney Registry on it too. That way, you can directly put in the link and your guests can just click/buy away, as they feel appropriate. It's subtle, but it gets the point across that "Hey, this is all there is."

I hope people don't buy you towels anyway!!

Great ideas and great points! Thanks soo much- I feel much better! I like the idea of a separate page for the at-home stuff and also what an excellent point about the small wedding. Our friends and family are all pretty laid-back and easygoing so i guess I shouldn't sweat it much, but I really love these people and want them to know that they're not just walking dollar signs!

It made perfect sense and I thank both of you soooo much! :thumbsup2

P.S. We have a ton of towels...FMIL bought towels for us the first three times she visited us. (I guess we looked soggy? :confused3 ) If we get any more I'm going to have to discover some new uses! ;)

See I never knew about the whole money in envelopes thing as a wedding gift, but my DF was like "we're totally having Brandon (our 3 year old) walk around with a bag to collect money, who can say no to a kid?" :lmao: I was like horrified! I'm like you can't do that and then he explained that to some people it's customary... trust me, I like the idea! ;)

My sister made me cute cards to insert in my bridal shower invites to give people more information about the Disney Honeymoon Registry, and to help those not so computer savvy, like my entire family! My co-workers have asked for them as well! Here's hoping they work!

I think she used the size larger than a business card on perforated avery cards/paper.

OMG where did you get the tink in a wedding dress pic????

how to we *hint* at the disney registry before we get married to these friends who couldn't travel in case they want to contribute?
well, my shower throwers are including some honeymoon registry info in with our other registry info. hopefully people will realize this is our only opportunity to get honeymoon gifts. Because our reception at home is two months after the wedding....

www.disneyhoneymoonregistry.com you can register and people can buy you stuff/experiences for your disneymoon...like couples massage, park tickets, christmas ornaments and everything! The only catch is, you get the gifts as a monetary equivalent on a gift card (so you can really use it any way you want...lol)

Well, if that does happen, maybe we can start up a "wedding gifts we don't want," swapping page or something.

Alissa, I'm pretty sure my sister just googled wedding disney clip art (for the bride Tink). I'll ask her though and get back to ya!

Okay... I have a question that's probably going to sound really really bad, but I ask for the guidance of you fine ladies in order not to make some sort of horrible faux pas. :worship:

Mike and I will have lived together for three years by the time the wedding rolls around. We have all of the housewares, linens, towels, art, gadgets, electronics, and random junk that we really need. (As a matter of fact, we're going to be having a yard sale to help generate wedding funds!) So, as such... we really don't plan on having another registry besides the Disney Honeymoon registry!

Now, the majority of our friends and some of our family members won't be able to make it down with us, of course. We will be having an at-home receptions when we get back to celebrate with everyone who couldn't be with us at the ceremony. My question is.... how to we *hint* at the disney registry before we get married to these friends who couldn't travel in case they want to contribute? We're planning on having and engagement party to celebrate with everyone up here- is that a good time to let people know of our plans and to spread the word? I don't want to seem greedy (Believe me, I'm just happy to get to go, much less have our wedding there!) but I know that some of our home guests would like to contribute and I just don't know the best way to tell them how! :confused3

Help? :worship:

When I read things like this, I'm so glad we don't have showers, and people EXPECT to find a business card of the store where you registered in the wedding invitation! :rotfl: No faux pas worries here.

However, I have the same "problem" regarding my housewarming party. My brother had his last year, and he ended up with FIVE champagne/ ice buckets! :scared:
So, this is my "plan": I will invite everyone by email, my brother included. Than HE had to "reply all" (without me) and let everyone know that if they need inspiration for a gift, or know the colours or whatever, that they can contact him, because as brother of the host, he knows what to buy :teeth:
So, involve some friends/ family/ bridesmaids, and let them spread the word around!
