It feels to me this lobby renovation couldn't be moving any slower! At first I thought November was a very easy target based on the rendering... it is starting to look ambitious to me... I believe it began in May or so... so we are around the halfway point give or take...

I’m telling myself they’re doing all the hard work, the stuff buried under the cement. Stuff above the cement is easy right? Some bar stools, a bar and a sink- they won’t even need an ice maker being a bubbles/wine/beer outfit and they’re pretty much set. How much time do they really need for that?

I'm thinking "the lobby at the Grand Floridian" is no longer going to be recommended as a "Place to Work from a Disney Resort" once this opens!

Is this over by the elevators? Or along the back of the lobby towards the Garden Tea Room?

It’s by the building elevators (the ones you take up to the CL floors)… visual…

I'm sure it will be busy - and it makes me wonder where in future Christmas everything will go? I know they said no Gingerbread House this year....

Will be interesting to see if all in person and eyeball the true size!

I just don't love the idea of a bar in the middle of the lobby.....there's plenty of space available for another bar in the Garden View
tea room. I feel like it's going to be as chaotic as the Grand Ceremonial House. (Poly) It kind of ruins the posh feeling of the GF
with people wandering about drinking Pina Colava's in plastic cups.

I had to call yesterday to change our MVMCP reservation from mid-Nov to mid-Dec (argh, the crowds and extra $). We usually do GF then but I was not gonna pay rack rate at GF CL for lobby construction so booked an AP rate at CR CL instead), and the CM I spoke to - she was a really good one, btw - shared her own doubt that the lobby would be done by the holidays. She said there was no end date relayed to them. @lotsohugginbear gaahhhhh, I hope it doesn’t turn into the Poly!! That chaos…

I don’t know y’all, GF lobby with the gingerbread/holiday setup was already Poly crowd like, if not worse. At least for 1.5ish months out of the year.

I like the concept of a casual bar spot but I’d like to wait and see the final product as I do tend to agree with the feeling of does it really need to be right there in the lobby? I’m just grumpy and miss Mizner’s though, so I’m probably not Disney’s target audience.

Will be interesting to see what is done with the 'old' Floridian Way portion when complete. In theory when complete it will allow for safer use of the CM lot, which is often used for guest/visitor overflow (especially the evenings).

I don’t know y’all, GF lobby with the gingerbread/holiday setup was already Poly crowd like, if not worse. At least for 1.5ish months out of the year.

I remember all the posts last Christmas season complaining about the packed lobby & long monorail wait times. Someone even suggested it was so bad the lobby should be closed to anyone not staying at the Grand. I personally don’t see a walk up bar with a limited menu creating anywhere near that level of disruption. But who knows.

I think there’s plenty of us who would love it if the tea room came back. Knowing they didn’t put a bar there (yet) gives us a little hope.
