Resort Thread Disney's GRAND FLORIDIAN Resort & Spa + Construction Updates!! **LOBBY REFURB STARTED 4/14**

First time staying at the Grand in August!

Has anyone done the Glow Party?

Also - looking at the Recreation Calendar posted for June - August it says the Campfire is at 5.30pm - 6.30pm. This seems incredbly early! Same period last year was 6pm - 7pm.

To all who have GF stays around the corner, I wish you a wonderful time. Now, I beg an indulgence. It’s a cold, wet and windy winter’s night down here. One thought that warms the cockles, though, is that it’s a mere 180 days until I can slip into one of these …

Sorry for the giggling.

Cross-posting with the CL thread. I recently cancelled a Deluxe CL room at GF with a Bounceback rate for end of July 2025. In case anyone here was looking for that type of room. Between my son's GF joining our July trip (and making us a group of 5) and the construction in the GF lobby, I'm pushing out our GF trip to summer 2026. Sad that we won't get to try GF CL this trip, but I hope we can make it in 2026.

Can you still get your picture taken with Cinderella’s glass slipper? Is it always on display or only certain times of the day?

We were just there last Sunday on a monorail bar crawl/progressive dinner and while the backdrop is always out, the slipper and the photopass photog are only there basically during the day. We showed up around 8ish iirc to pop into Enchanted Rose and it looked like it was done for the day.

BTW we started at Wailulu doing drinks and apps, then Enchanted Rose (I love those dang croquettes and the cheese board!), and ended at Steakhouse 71 lounge. Our server at S71 congratulated us with a little pixie dusting after we mentioned we'd completed our first monorail lounge crawl too. :)

I forget about the S71 lounge! I usually grab a drink at the outer rim to have food from CC with it. Maybe next trip!

Is there a specific day that is possibly less crowded than others at Enchanted Rose? We would like to order appetizers, so is arriving at 5:00 better than arriving later?

I don't really think so tbh, we've never had a long wait to get in and we tend to show up 7-8p. Maybe 5-10 minutes tops.

Grand Floridian Lobby Update: Walk-Up Bar Progress, Plenty of Construction (and Demolition)

We’ll start with the star of the show, a new walk-up lobby bar. Walt Disney World previously released concept art of the lobby refresh, and the new bar was an unmistakable centerpiece. The bar is inspired by the former birdcage that sat in the same spot for decades. Minus the new bar, the look and feel of the lobby appears to retain the same charm that guests love. Let’s take a look at the current state of the work.

Since we last checked in on the project, the planter-style foundation that the birdcage previously sat on has been demolished. It looks like there is a bit of a hole here now, as crews prepare for the installation of the bar. Without knowing what was under the planter that was demolished, it also looks like some new infrastructure is in place, perhaps to support some of the features needed for a bar (like a sink). Here’s a look around the area from an elevated vantage point from the second floor of the Grand.

Heading downstairs, we can see that the check-in counter is now completely behind construction walls, and a fair bit of construction has taken place. Disney did not release any details or renderings of what the new check-in area will look like once complete, but we do know that all of the counters have been removed, and there is work taking place on both the walls and ceiling. Here’s a tour of the work.

A peek beyond the construction walls shows the removal of the check-in counters, and some materials staged as work continues around the window frames.

Elsewhere, there is ongoing work to refresh the window frames around the lobby, including in this little alcove near the front door. Speaking of the front door, both the front door and doors leading to the monorail platform were blocked from view as crews performed repairs.

On the other side of the lobby, the Tea Room remains behind walls. From what we can tell, the flooring has been ripped out, and the Tea Room is being used as either a break room or staging area for some of the other work. Pop-up tables are present, and we even spotted a TV box (not sure what for).
