Resort Thread Disney's GRAND FLORIDIAN Resort & Spa + Construction Updates!! **LOBBY REFURB STARTED 4/14**

What room category booking is this? My kids would LOVE that view of the monorail!!
I’m on far side of Sago . Most of the rooms are resort/old gv rooms. I have had those in the past. To pay extra for a lagoon view it’s not really very good compared to other lagoon/water I have had. However it is hot so windows are foggy and we are so busy I’m not on the balcony.
I would request sago with view of mono. It’s really a good chunk of rooms so good chance request met. Other resort rooms face the pools or the marina which are nice too.

My 1st stay we had this view and ds then 8 loved it.

At this point I wonder if Disney even knows when they are redoing the lobby. I have us booked for Easter weekend and would love for them to have the Easter eggs and cottage. If they delay work for the Xmas season, are they really going to lose the money from all the Easter visitors they get with the displays is the lobby?

I hope once they do start work it goes quick. It’s not like the Poly where they have to replace a giant water feature. I’m just hoping for some new carpeting and furniture.

I have decided we will stick with GF even if the lobby reno is happening during Easter. The grounds, pools and restaurants are even for me. Looking forward to having French toast at GF cafe Easter morning and lounging by the pool the rest of the day while the kids play pool games.

Room has been nice n cool, robes in the closet , room cleaned early , lots of coffee in the drawer, plenty of towels on these hot days etc.

I’ve barely been able to really enjoy GF this trip with mnsshp Friday and the surprise Epcot event 9-12 last night for d23 but to wake up in this beautiful room knowing I’m here is a great feeling indeed!

I’m skipping d23 this morning . Mk and then WL for lunch at the QS geyser point .

Then mnsshp again tonight . I’m never up this late . 😅

I’ll try to get some pix !

The news about the pressure washing is definitely disappointing (we're going the week of the 16th-23rd) but according to that schedule, it's been going on all month. No one has posted about it who has been there during that time, so it's possible that it's really not that big of a deal or it's being blown out of proportion?

This is so beautiful! My sister and I have a short trip planned for the end of October. We have dreamed about this trip for years. I can't wait to take her on a resort stroll and show her favorite my spots on our arrival day. Truffle fries at ER, a drink to go, and a view of HEA from Gaspie's would be fun! @trishadono Thanks for drink to go tip!! No piped in HEA music though, correct?

Love that spot! Although during fireworks this area can sometimes host private events and gets blocked off. It happened to us and they blocked the sides of the inlet as well. We just moved a little further away.
Good to know! We will arrive on a Saturday. I bet that is prime time for a private event.

ER has a to go section. At main entrance it is a little roped off section to the left. They now have these nice plastic cups, they used to be the clear basic water glasses.

I grabbed these for dd. An espresso martini and a cosmo. I had a bucket of ice in the room so laid the cosmo on that while we rested before mnsshp.
I am happy to say the have added my Simi Cab to Sandy Cove to purchase! It’s my fav wine and home and much better than the other stuff they sell😅

Also we saw the shuttle launch from the boat on the way back from mnsshp! I has to screen shot the video dd took but still it was pretty big and bright in person.

Best espresso martini I have ever had, anywhere, is that one from the GF!!!

We just got back from an 8 night stay at the Grand.

  • The staff was amazing, we had booked a theme park view and were on the top floor of Boca Chica which was amazing view. We had issues with our magicbands that we had to go back twice till we called from the phone in the hallway and they sent someone to help us get into the room while he took our bands to get working right.
  • The new rooms seeing them in person doesn't do the new rooms justice, it was stunning and simplistic. Plus our theme park view gave us a nightly view of the electrical parade too.
  • Elevators were a bit scary at times with them either closing fast or just being older.
  • We didn't take advantage of the counter service much because we were at the parks or it was a pain for us to drag our mugs to the cs when we were heading out.
  • Housekeeping was fantastic, we never knew what we would come back to with towel creations.
  • We ate at the grand a few times, one of our waitresses, gave us the new birthday treat for our mom. It was orange meringue treats.
  • I loved that they were alternating the boat styles more this trip, so you had a third way back to the hotel outside of monorail and walking if you had a wheelchair.
I may have more to add later but we're already looking forward to our trip back next year.

Some scaffolding has come down from above Gasparilla Island Grill.

The restaurant has remained open during construction, but guests have to walk through construction walls. With work wrapping up around it, the walls may come down soon.

Scaffolding is gone from around this corner too. A green fence is up at the edge of the construction site.

A lift is visible behind the fence, next to the Gasparilla Island Grill entrance.
