A poster noticed some lake view trees have been removed during the roofing updates:

It's always a hard decision! Are you booking on DVC points? Do you have enough to hold onto 2 resorts until 31 days out? Or if you're staying on cash can you make 2 room only deposits and decide closer to your trip?

Yeah, an example of the "now" version without several trees. Really just those two trees on the left that are in front of a handful of rooms.

So basically, standard view would be just fine for some nice views. Got it

Looking at the photos from the lake view of Big Pine Key. I see those trees in many of the photos that somewhat block the view of the lake. I wonder if they might cut them down. Doubt it

I am also a little concerned because I am going to book for next year for DVC. I have never been to GF, but what if they announce they are redoing the lobby and all the rooms etc. I would be so disappointed. Sure, the villa building would be open but thats not my main draw. Sigh. Decisions
Our friends always request BPK when we all stay there, and the past two years they booked lake view, but received tree view instead!! lol I’ll write her in a little bit and ask if she has any pictures handy she can send me. Not sure if she’s up just yet.

Looking to rent points from someone on the boards so going to be locked in lol

I should just split stay GF and Poly tbh lol

Meet Esther – Disney’s Grand Floridian’s First Female Greeter

At the Grand Floridian, that magic starts as soon as you step through the main entrance, and are met by the wonderful resort greeters, just like the beautiful Esther!

Granted projects have a way of coming together quickly... but BPK doesn't exactly look like it's ready for prime time. Weren't first reservations available for late June?

Well I appreciate all the advice on picking where to stay. I have done the Poly ( my favorite ) WDL and AKL.

This time we are going to do things a little differently and stay at the beach club for a few nights ( was debating on the boardwalk, but was so tough, no kids also for us ) then end the trip at the new resort villas at the grand floridan. I just really hope I don't miss the Poly when I see it lol I've been there 3 times in a row. It's time to try something new..

This will be for early 2023

Can you see the castle walking around GF?

Ha - well no wonder there's an army of construction workers in that one shot. :-)
We're doing a BWI/GF split checking into GF on 7/3 so I really hope they get it done! I'd rather not have to look at the construction from my room...although it will probably be too hot to use the balconies other than at night anyway lol!

What I love about the mono resorts is I can visit, eat at each so feels like staying at all 3 at once.

GF is so quiet I think you’ll enjoy the change.

Yes! Along the beach area, boat dock area, Gaspy’s area, walking to the park, from Narcoossee’s, etc.

Quick pic from a recent trip in front of Gaspy’s. (Sorry not the best pic, was actually taking a pic of the yacht for a friend, was all I could find in my quick search.)

I booked our adrs today for our upcoming August trip and couldn't book a GFC breakfast or Citricos lounge for any day during our 9 day trip. No problem for GFC lunch or dinner or Citricos table service. Does the GFC not open for breakfast now and is the Citricos lounge only walk-ups? :confused3

If you are just at the 60 day out mark, then keep checking for reservations. Not all restaurants post their availability at 60 days out. Some of them take a few days or so to post them. :)

Citricos is only open in the evening. The lounge is walk up. It is very large and has the full menu! It’s nice to wing it and just show up when hungry vs having to plan around a meal you booked 60 days prior IMO.

ER also has a small menu. Dd always needs that cheese plate.

Gf is currently the only resort having room service. We have done breakfast and it’s so nice to just take your time!

Kona at poly is closing in August so many from there may be eating at gf for breakfast. Keep that in mind. Keep looking these always change and they do have a walk up wait list if needed.
