Disney's FORT WILDERNESS CABINS & CAMPGROUNDS Thread

Thank you both! Can I ask how far out we should book the golf cart?
I would book asap. My daughter and her family are staying Oct 5-10th. She wanted a 6 seater since they have a double size stroller/ car seats etc with a baby and a toddler. They were out of them----she got a standard 4 seater. She called a month ago and they were out of 6 seaters so those must go very fast.

You can book the golf cart for up to a year out. They don't charge it until you arrive, but they do have to reserve it on a major credit card. I would do it ASAP. Our vacation is going to be in June and they had already told me that they were running low on golf carts. I was able to book one and then we moved our vacation to March at the cabins and I was still able to get one. But with that campground being so massive, I wouldn't go without one.

We're trying to book a stay using our DVC but since we don't own at the fort, we can't book until 7 months in advance.
Is there a way to book a golf cart before having a stay reserved? Now I'm worried, we will book but not be able to secure a golf cart.

You have to have a reservation before you can reserve a golf cart.

You do have to have a reservation confirmation number, but remember that you could always book a golf cart and have it delivered by an outside company.

Was successful in securing a DVC reservation & golf cart!
As long as we are staying on DVC points, we are still eligible for extended evening hours correct? And the does MK run the boats after evening hours back to the Fort?

Yes you qualify for Extended Evening Hours (EEH), the boats, buses run during EEH, and after. Note the boats may be paused or stopped due to lightning in the area.

3rd party golf cart companies are no longer allowed to deliver golf carts to FW.

Well, Disney's position is a bit nuanced.

3rd party golf cart companies have not been able to deliver carts to FW for MANY years now (over a decade?).

HOWEVER, 3rd party carts are permitted if they meet the more recent insurance requirement (I know of at least one 3rd party who offers that) and brought into the Fort by the FW guest. 3rd party companies arrange with you to meet off Disney property. Going off property to pick up and return the cart both at the start of the rental and the conclusion of the rental is inconvenient for the FW guest (which is Disney's intent) but the savings can be substantial (generally, the longer the rental period, the more it's worth it to use a 3rd party).

Generally speaking, with the exception of major holidays like Halloween and Christmas, Disney cart rentals are available to FW guests since the FW-only restriction was implemented. And even those two holidays mentioned may have had carts available. So don't worry too much even at the 7 month point (again, generally speaking).
