Disney's FORT WILDERNESS CABINS & CAMPGROUNDS Thread

Why in the world is this thread in the "Resort Community" sub forum instead of just the Resort forum?

This is a great thread with lots of info and I think it's kind of hidden in community. I had a lot of trouble finding it again and then decided to "watch" it but for others who don't know this thread exists they may have trouble finding it...

All the Resort FAQ threads have been moved here. There's a sticky on the main Resort board with links to all the FAQ threads. I think the Resort Community etc board should go back to being a Picture board only. There are too many threads that overlap.

I agree with EpcotBill about the overlap. Why in the world is there a resort thread for Fort Wilderness and a completely separate Camping Forum on the main page? Aren't they the same? The camping forum has pics, recipes, trip reports, etc.

I see the same questions and answers in both places. I try to bounce back and forth between the two both to help if I can and try to pick up new information.

I agree with both of you.

Another point: many of the questions/topics posted in the "Resort" page are covered in this thread and the other Resort FAQ's.

Just seems like we are making this stuff harder to find. People are way less likely to dig deeper into another sub-forum. This and the other FAQ's are the best sources of information about the Resorts and I don't see any reason to bury them....

Has there been any more info regarding refurb going on in the cabins?

When we were there in late June it looked like they were doing a bunch of work on the decks on the first loop on the left when you come in...

For our family, if they were to do a major refurb to the inside of the cabins we would love to see a 2nd bathroom and maybe a Master bedroom. A similar set-up to the Family suites at AoA would be ideal but I'm not sure how involved this is going to be...

The camping forum thread on the cabins refurb had it's latest post this past Friday. They indicated that the work was currently on the 2600 loop and all indications seem to be that they are replacing the decks.

Hi! We are camping for the first time next fall. I'm trying to read thru everything, but I'm hoping that someone can help me out. We are thinking of bringing mopeds with us, since we don't have a toy hauler to bring a golf cart, and are cheaper than renting or buying a golf cart. On the rules sheet it states that they are allowed but that you can't park in golf cart parking.....is there parking we can use for them at the marina and other places around the campground that we can use, or only at our site? I don't want to bring something that I can't really use to go places in the campground. Thanks

You are correct...only golf carts can park in the golf cart parking, no mopeds or motorcycles. I believe there are some spaces at the Meadows Trading Post for cars; however, it's only a limited amount of time for parking.

There has been reburbs, like you said, going on with some of the decks of the cabins but that's all I could find. I agree...2 bathrooms would be nice:thumbsup2 They did a soft refurb several years back; they went from the darker colored bedding to the white....nothing major though.

The only way they could do a second bath, or even a half bath, without making the cabins seem too small is to do an add on to the cabins. Since these are prefab, and they have no problem filling them, I think they will wait about another 5-10 years and then just do a full replacement. This would be similar to what they did in the late '90's when they replaced the trailer homes that used to be at FW.

I'm not 100% sure if they have offered the Holiday Sleigh ride in years past, but if they have, is it worth it?? Also if we have a 6pm sleigh ride reservation, can we still make the Chip-n-Dale sing along??

I had no idea about the replacements in the 90s :scratchin... good info. We've only been going to the Fort since 2010 and will continue - even with 1 bathroom

I believe the sleigh ride is around 25-30 minutes. With the Fall\Winter Sing-a-long schedule, you should be able to make it. Usually they start around 7pm, and after that the movie will be shown. Sounds like y'all have a fabulous evening planned at the Fort :thumbsup2

We are thinking of booking Archery and a carriage ride for our honeymoon. Do these things get booked up far in advance or can we wait until we're at Disney to book them? Thanks.

Hi we are reserved for a RV site and I am confused about the internet and wifi. Do I need a router for my RV to get the wifi for multiple devices? My DD attends virtual school and will need to do some schoolwork while we are there. Thank you.

We're planning a trip for fall 2016. We ate at TE last year during our trip, but that's it. After reading this thread and getting into all the cabin details, I'm geeking out. I think we may go for a cabin this year! :)

Quick Question: We are going to FW next week and staying in the cabins. Can anyone tell me what type of coffee pots they have? Are they the little ones that they have at all the other resorts or a full-sized one? And if they are full-sized, which type of filters do they take? Trying to get a grocery list of things to buy before we leave! Thanks!

When we stayed there in February. they were fullsize -- the typical drip Mr. Coffee style, I don't remember the brand. They did supply the coffee in a filter (all in one type) every morning, I believe enough to make two pots. I don't remember the brand but it wasn't horrible.

Just curious if the horns from the boats bother anyone? I've heard they can run til 1-3 am. Might be a case for me to request further away rather than closer.

Thanks, Tom! Wish I checked this before I went to the store. I think I have filters somewhere (currently using a Keurig and was considering bringing my spare). Must have tons of coffee or I will keel over...
