:cool1:Wow!! What a trip! 10 weeks! Now that's what I call a vacation :thumbsup2 Sounds fabulous!

We did around 8 weeks last year, I retired last year after 37 years @ UPS but the wife still works for the school district so she is off all summer so why sit at home. :yay:

Congrats on the retirement!! :thumbsup2 That must be an awesome feeling. Having the summers off are nice...I'm an educator, too :teacher: and thoroughly enjoy my time with the family. Don't blame you a bit for traveling around the country side!!! Hope y'alls trip is even better than last year:goodvibes

Hello. I switched resorts last from a suite at ASM to Fort Wilderness. It will be a Christmas trip with my family and my parents. My parents and DH will probably be getting scooters to move around while at the parks. They won't all fit in our mini van so it looks like Disney transportation will be our ticket to and from. How many scooters can be on a bus at once? I saw that Fort Wilderness is big and has it's own bus system, is it difficult to get around? Any other ideas as to how to get to the parks? Thx

:cheer2: Christmas is such a beautiful time at the World!!!

Here is a link about scooters...maybe this can answer some of your questions about them. I think they allow maybe 3 on most buses.

Scooters

The transportation inside the Fort is not difficult to get around, but you will have to get on an internal bus first, then get on another bus to the parks. Check out the very first pages of this thread, and you will see a map of the internal bus route. This will help give you a visual of what you're working with. You also might want to request a cabin that is close to one of the bus depots. You can also take the boat to the MK, but again, you'll have to take the internal bus to get to the dock.

Happy Planning:goodvibes

Thanks for the info. How can I request to be close to a bus stop? Can a scooter go on the smaller boats? Thx

Did you book the cabin through Disney or through a travel agent? If you did it through Disney, just call and put in a request. They generally try and honor what you ask for. If your booked with a TA, they will have to put in the request for you. Look at the Fort Map to get a visual of the cabin loop that you would like, then ask for that, also.

Scooters :scratchin.... If I remember correctly, the smaller boats will not accommodate the scooters. You would have to get on the larger boat. We'll be there tomorrow, so I'll make a note and find out for you :thumbsup2

Is there a good place at Ft. Wilderness to watch a football game besides our cabin? During our December trip the Seahawks play the 49ers in Seattle and we are going to try to watch it at ESPN club. However, I worry our girls might get bored so we'd like an alternative. Our oldest is 12, so she could watch her sisters in our cabin if we're at the resort.

Hello everyone. Excited to be trying the cabins out over labor day week! I had originally booked the cabins at the end of October. Then switched to a 1 night room only and then moving over to AoA for 8 nights labor day week. Well, in a moment of curiosity I priced out the cabins all week and found it would be $400 cheaper to just stay at the cabins all week. Just got off the phone with wdw about an hour ago to switch it again.
I'm super excited, but a little worried about the golf cart situation. They are so expensive!
Also this trip is a surprise for our youngest 3 kids. We told them we wouldn't be going back for 2 years since we had to save up. We were at AoA over Christmas and loved it. I had to tell the oldest so I had someone to talk to, plus she is starting high school this year and will be taking 4 days off school for our trip.

So, just wanted to quickly say... Just got here a couple hours ago and this place is awesome. So quiet and peaceful. So happy we chose it!

Just wanted to give our wilderness hostess with the mostess, Heather, a warm farewell. I can't believe you'll finally will be at FWC (and WL-CL) tomorrow! I hope we get some updates and tell Mystery, (I named all the white ponies Mystery like on SpongeBob:laughing:) that I'll be there in 23 days. Yahooee!

Have fun doing absolutely nothing at FW:beach:

:scratchin Not sure. We'll be there tomorrow, so I'll see if I can scope out a spot in the bar area. Will let you know what I find :thumbsup2

:yay: for booking the cabins!!! I love WDW surprises!!! They will be so excited!! Don't blame you a bit for spilling the beans....ya have to talk about your trip with someone, right?!

Golf carts aren't a necessity at the Fort...just a convenience. Many, many people stay there and don't use one, and they say they are perfectly content without a cart. There are outside agencies that rent for less, also.

Excellent news!!! :thumbsup2 Enjoy your vacation!!!

popcorn:::hyper:

After 4 short hours of driving you'll be there today:yay:. I soooo envy your short drive, but it's probably best that I'm not 4 hours away or else I'd be there every weekend. Can't wait for the first update that will make us all feel like we're right there with you, except you won't have to try and fit us into the golf cart and you won't have to pay for lunch.

Here's THE Mystery you need to say 'howdy' to for me. It's the white one:rolleyes2

You could try Crockets Tavern, but if it's a night game they might close early.

Do we have any recent info about renting a cart from Kenny? Can't figure out how to rent off site if we will not have a vehicle.

We made it yesterday around 2ish!! Beautiful weather!!! I was up this morning at the crack of dawn cruising around on the golf cart. Very peaceful and relaxing. Our cabin is in the 2200 loop...great location!

You are the best! :cheer2: I hope you have a wonderful trip and I can't wait to see some pictures.

Thanks! :goodvibes

:scratchin Not sure. However, I know somewhere on this thread that has been discussed. I'll see if I can find it and let you know. You might have to call Kenny and ask them directly. No worries...we'll find out for ya:thumbsup2
