Disney's CORONADO SPRINGS RESORT Information & Questions

My mistake. I assumed it had been there, but didn't pay too much attention as I wanted Cabanas.

REVIEW

We stayed at the Coronado from May 14th-May 20th. Overall, we were very satisfied with our experience and I would stay there again (my husband is less excited about all things Disney and prefers the Swan due to the boats and central location of everything you need). Everyone at the resort was friendly and helpful.

I had requested Cabanas 9A but we got Cabanas 8A, 2nd floor. I asked at check-in about switching because I wanted a ground floor room and 9A, but the guy checking us in assured us that we were in a good spot. Check in was pretty quick despite the fact that we got there just as a *huge* group of women fell into line. We greatly outnumbered the employees, but when we went back an hour later to eat, there was not one person left in line. The man who checked us in was friendly and gave us anniversary buttons.

Previously, we had stayed at the Swan twice. My husband still prefers it because he gets enough walking in the parks and prefers not to walk so far to eat. However, we had our own car and so it was no big deal for me to drive us to El Centro and there was always tons of great parking there.

Cabanas 8A was ideal as far as location! We were right by the bus stop, just a few feet from an elevator, and a short walk to the main pool and the quiet pool. Disney definitely knew better than I which room we needed. I will request 8A from now on. I am not sure what kind of room we had. The toilet and bed were super low, and there were two peepholes, one high and one low. However, there was a bathtub instead of an easily accessible shower.

We saw a lot of wildlife at this resort. The first night I went out walking after it got dark. A man walking in front of me put his arm out to stop me and then I saw he was waving a snake out of the walkway. Snakes do not freak me out--I just thought it was cool. We saw multiple tiny green tree frogs and were serenaded by some that sounded just like barking dogs. There was a very pushy raccoon that we saw raiding garbage (we caught it mid-raid, with its big butt jammed in the 2nd floor garbage can). Later I saw him stealing a hand towel from a laundry cart. It was hilarious to see him dragging it by his front paws into the woods. Why do you think he wanted it? I also got right up on a rabbit (about 8 inches) because I was trying to keep it from running out in front of a golf cart (lots of squished frogs on those walkways). The cutest animals I saw were the K-9 Disney dogs investigating one of the hotel rooms. Leave it to Disney to hire beagles for a K-9 squad. So cute.

The resort grounds were just beautiful and smelled strongly of gardenias. If you don't like that smell, you might have minded, but I thought it was wonderful. I enjoyed the pool, too--the theming is excellent.

Bus service was ok. Times changed a lot as we were waiting, moving back and back but it still beats driving! We only had trouble getting seats one time--as we left the MK on our last night.

The Pepper Market was big with lots of selections. We did refillable mugs. Food was ok--I won't get the nachos again.

Overall, it was an excellent experience and as good as I remembered in 2011, but with an even better location this time. I would happily go back to the Coronado anytime.

It's really quite simple! In MDE, under My Reservation and Tickets, you will see your resort reservation listed. On the right is a link for "Online Check-in". You will fill in information like your estimated arrival time (which is good for room assigners to know, especially if you're arriving either very early or very late!); your estimated departure time on your check-out date. You can link a credit card which will be used for your room charges and I believe you will set a 4-digit Pin. (I did mine several years back when they were testing this whole set-up so all I see now is that my Pin has been set!)

There is also a screen for you to make up to 2 room requests. If you made room requests previously, leave this blank, since any requests you make during online check-in will override anything Disney already had in the system for you.

Once complete, the link will change to "Modify Check-in" so you can always go in and make changes.

You can also give a cell number and email to be notified when your room is ready. Often times people haven't even arrived at the resort yet and they know their room number! (in which case you can go directly to your room - your linked Magic Bands should open the door!)

Make sure everyone in your party uses their Magic Band to open the door - that activates them.

I hope that helped! :)

Thanks RachelTori, MonaMN, Micksn and mareed for your replies. We'll be there in a week so be doing the on-line NOW! :dogdance:

While we are on the topic of online check in...Do you have to pay in full in order to do online check in? I've heard conflicting information.

Another online check in question for those of you that recently did yours. Is there a way to note that you are traveling with another family and request to have close rooms? We booked 2 rooms with military discount but their room is still in their name. We don't have to have adjoining rooms just want them as close as possible.

I believe you will want to call Disney and ask to have that noted in your room request - the online chef in is a pretty simple web form that can't really allow for this detail.

Definitely call and let Disney know. They will create a travel with number so that the resort knows that you are traveling together. The room assigner will then try their best to have you near each other. It's not guaranteed, but they really do try :)

Thanks for all the help. When we originally made the reservations in Feb I did tell them we were traveling together. Should I still call again to be sure they have info?

For the Business Class rooms,

What room request options are there?

Very curious to know!

I thought that too but on touring plans it is listed as a preferred King and no mention of a suite.

I know I'm late to the party, but just want to note that you should take touring plans with a grain of salt. They don't have all of the information correct. For instance, they have room 2222 at Pop Century listed as double beds. I've stayed in that room - it's a king bed room.

First, let me tell you that this will be our 8th Business Class stay and I've yet to make any room requests! There are 8 items listed, and most are pretty useless! The only real options would be to request Ground Floor or Upper Floor and possibly Near Elevator, if that's important. We just take our chances! ;)

1) Near Convention Center
2) Ranchos Area (I'm not kidding, it's really listed!)
3) Upper Floor (there are 2 floors in 9B)
4) Near Elevator
5) Cabanas Area (yeah, that's where you'll be - doesn't need to be requested!)
6) Ground Floor
7) Lower Floor (again, only 2 floors in 9B!)
8) Near transportation

My guess is, these are the room requests for all of CSR - they didn't make a list specific to Business Class! :thumbsup2

Those are the options they show for online check-in at CSR regardless of room type booked. It doesn't adjust to your booking type. Same at all resorts.

Casitas doesn't show up as a choice, but you can select "near convention center" and that will be Casitas.

Thank you for posting this, Casitas is our favorite and I never knew to pick this option when doing online check in. Learn something every day!
