TinkerBelle 325 - you seriously rock!! Thank you so much for all this information. I've wanted to go to WDW since I was 10, growing up in a 3rd world country when my dad came home from a business trip to LA, with mouse ears hats. 3 decades later, I am finally going to meet Mickey for the 1st time ever this Christmas with my my own family - DH, DD14, DS11. You and many forum contributors are so lucky to have visited WDW so many times.... I love living vicariously through all of you. Thanks for your stories, your photos, your advice. You are all amazing! Thanks to an early Christmas gift of FD, we have moved our reservations from POR to CSR and I'll be following this thread religiously for the next few months. Sooooo excited!!

For those that have been at CSR if we want to make rope drop what time should we line up for the buses?

Travel time should be under 10 min. for AK, about 10 min. for DHS, about 15 for Epcot and about 20 for MK. Then you have to factor in the wait for the bus which could be nothing or up to 20 min.

When we would stay at the All-Stars (they are relatively near CSR), we would allow 45 min. for AK, 1 hour for Epcot and DHS and 1 hour 15 min. for MK. We would rather be early than late so we tend to overestimate.

I usually bring our sunscreen with us and if we end up waiting at the bus for a while, we apply it while waiting. If not, then we are early to the park and we apply while waiting for the park to open. We are also not big breakfast people and usually bring some juice/ fruti/ pop tarts etc... with us in the morning and can eat that while we wait.:)

Thanks SmallWorld71
That's very helpful sounds like it shouldn't be that hard to get up and to the parks.

CONGRATS on booking your first trip! Here's hoping for many magical memories and lots of pixie dust for your family!!! :grouphug:

Almost there.....

Our first stay at CSR will begin in 8 days! If anyone has any insight as far as the resort is concerned feel free to share.

My plan is to arrive around 3 or 4 and either hit the pool or the blizzard beach mini golf. Next the days are packed with parks. But I added that extra night yesterday one because I'm too excited to wait, two the 26 is my birthday so going in the 27 is just silly, and three I want to have some down time to explore the resort with dh and my two kids before we hit the parks commando style

10 for us till CSR first time stay! I'm glad you were able to add in another day to include your birthday! Enjoy your family vacation!

You too! I'm super excited and it's a surprise for the kids so the anticipation along with keeping my mouth shut is killing me lol

I know that feeling all too well. We did that last time with our 3 kiddos. Didn't tell them till they woke up as we were driving under the Disneyworld arch (after a long nights drive...in a tropical storm lol)

Not telling them drove me bonkers...was so hard to not say anything!

Same here. DD16 thinks we are staying at POP again in October. I've showed her CSR photos, videos, etc. and it's a "someday" resort for us but this is a "budget" trip so she knows Value is the only option.

I'm surprising her with a split stay...2 or 3 nights at Pop (the first night we arrive after midnight) and then switching to Business Class at CSR. I plan on "hitting the parks hard" the first 2 days and then having some downtime once we move to CSR. We are usually very commando so this will be a nice change of pace for us all the way around. I hope we do some relaxing at the resort (like we used to when we would stay at the Poly).

Best of all, the cost is more in line with my budget by doing a split stay, and I know from experience we tend to spend most of our time in the parks the first few days anyway. I can't wait to stay at CSR for the first time! I've always wanted to. The grounds look so pretty and I can't wait to see it at night.

I have no idea how I'm going to keep it a Secret until October! Hoping I can send her to a bench to wait with the luggage while I check in so she doesn't hear we're checking out 2-3 days later. Would love to wake up that morning and say, "pack up, we're checking out and staying at CSR for the rest of the trip!"

On chat with Andy at the WDW website, I asked how I could get pool operation hours for CSR in August. He said 11am to 11pm. I said the bar currently closes at 7pm. He said that was not true.

It would be nice to know so I can plan on day/time for use of the slide for kids while I relax with a bar drink.

Seems the bar / side refill station closes at 8pm (or earlier as many have reported on this thread), year round.

Can anyone report on the lifeguard / pool slide operating until 11pm?

Pool was open with lifeguards on duty until 11pm when we were there in December.

I have on numerous occasions drank beer that I bought at Panchitos by the quiet pools. I haven't done it at the Digsite, but as long as you don't have glass bottles you probably won't be hassled.

I want to go NOW:drive:!! I think we still have like 3 1/2 months to go, but the planning is half the fun :surfweb:

Joining in the fun - Dec 16-23 will be our first stay at CSR. Continuing my bucket list of staying at all the WDW resorts. I've read most all of the threads on CSR. If you could pick just ONE not to miss thing at the resort what would it be?

Sitting at the Laguna Bar talking to the bartenders and watching for baby gators in the Lake. I can't remember their names, but everytime we have some good conversations with them and others that come by. It's a nice relaxing evening after a crazy day in the parks.
