Disney's CORONADO SPRINGS RESORT Information & Questions

My DH & I stayed at CSR twice and really enjoyed the resort. Our last trip was in Dec. 2013 with my parents (they liked the resort, too.) We stayed in Casitas #5 and like this location very much. It was a short, pleasant walk to the main buildings. The bus stop was a quick walk (though building 4 is a little closer). Our building was very quiet, almost felt like we were the only ones there. I'm not sure this the best building for kids, since it is a bit of a walk Dig Site Pool. Casutas we're perfect for us adults. Our rooms were very clean and looked like they were recently remodeled. Beds were comfortable. We really did not like the food at the Pepper Market or the Quick Server, however the bakery, coffee, Gelato counter was good. We enjoyed Sitting outside eating an afternoon Gelato! Yum! The downfall to this past trip was the Cheerleading Convention. I believe this caused for the resort to busy and delays with the buses. Overall a beautiful resort.

Maybe it changed in the past two months. I was there mid April and did laundry. It was 2.00. Had to use quarters.

Who said it is debit card swipe? Maybe someone on location can confirm.

We just came home saturday and did laundry on Saturday. We had to use quarters...

We returned from CSR Sat, 6/14. Quarters only for the washer and dryers in Casitas 4. Everyone we encountered was pleasant. We had 4 standard rooms reserved and requested at the time we booked to be placed in Cabanas and to be near the Dig Site. We were told there were no rooms available in Cabanas and we were upgraded to water view rooms (2 lake view and 2 quiet pool view) and placed in Casitas 4. While we were very close to the quiet pool and bus stop 2, it was a hike to the main pool area. This was a disappointed since we had 4 teens and 3 children under 7 that would have loved the main pool area and activities. It was just too much of an effort to get everyone there after touring all morning. We used it once during our 8 night stay and used the quiet pool in front of us the other days. A positive about Casitas 4 was the closeness of the fitness center-we had two teens who worked out frequently. Food at Pepper Mkt was adequate. We ate nachos, flatbread pizza, pasta, and breakfast one morning. Looking back, I wish we would have tried moving to the Cabanas the next day. It would be nice if there was a bridge that connected the end of the Casitas section to the Dig Site, much like the one that is in front of the Cabanas. It was still a pleasant stay and we wouldn't hesitate staying here again for a third time.

I booked a Preferred King room. Where will I likely be placed? Any tips on a bldg request? Thanks so much!

According to post #3 of this thread Casitas 1, 2 and 3 are preferred so you'll be in one of those buildings.

Thanks, Dansdad! I so appreciate your kind answer when it had already been clarified earlier. Very excited to visit CSR for the first time.

I haven't read the whole thread, so please forgive me if it's been discussed. I see that CSR has different options for birthday cakes than the other resorts. Has anyone had a CSR cake? I'm deciding between the strawberry shortcake or Oreo birthday cakes or I might just go with a standard Mickey head cake from a restaurant. I would love to see pictures of any of the CSR cakes but would like to at least know what you thought of them. I read through some of the cake chatter thread but those were mostly custom cakes & spending $100+ on a cake for the 4 of us doesn't appeal to me. Thanks in advance!

We got the chocolate mickey head cake with the mousse filling for my birthday during the fireworks cruise. It was $65 I think and worth every penny. We still talk about that cake and its been a few years.

Got it from one of the people who runs Disney for Seniors site. They even showed how to avoid having your card ID swiped illegally. I guess I better get someone to tell so I bring quarters after all.
:confused3

My husband had had the chocolate cake on the top right and he loved it. I had a red velvet one and it was ok but that strawberry one looks yummy. ..

Thanks for the replies! I tried calling today but couldn't get anyone on the phone. We have plenty of time but it's on my mind & will bug me until I figure it out. Plus I'm on a diet and looking at the cake pics is just so wrong! :crazy2:

I have a question for you CSR veterans.....

We have reservations for preferred room at CSR for Aug 13-21. (our first time at CSR but many times at other resorts)..

I'm now at the point where we can do our online check-in (which i haven't done yet). First off, should we do online checkin or just check in on arrival (any pros and cons here)? We are driving in (not flyIng) so probably be arriving at the resort around noon or so.

Second, what building can we expect to be staying? Is there any special requests (room requests, etc) that would make our first stay at CSR any better? I guess any special requests would likely have a better chance if we online checked in soon..

Any advice from those that have been there would be greatly appreciated. :)

OH and i read on another thread about room rehabs at CSR (preferred rooms in August).. Anyone have any confirmations from that?

We had a preferred room reserved for August 31st-Sept 5th. I received a call from Disney saying they were doing maintenance and preferred would not be available and we would be switched to water view. So, it's definitely happening but I am not sure when it starts.

Staying at CSR in dec. standard room free dining promotion. We are driving to WDW and plan on driving to the parks and not using bus system. Also, don't plan on eating at the resort. I have ADR ressies and counter service plans and will bring muffins and such In room for breakfast. Do you think it matters what area at CSR we are put in? I see a lot of discussion about what building you should be in.q

Given those parameters it probably doesn't matter. You could just request close to parking ground floor and hopefully they give you a room backing right on to the parking lot. That way you would be steps away from your car.

Can anyone tell me if CSR has chocolate croissants? I had my first at POP last trip & I'm hoping CSR has them.

Question about the bus stops. From reading this thread so far (only on pg 30) the bus stop #1 is at El Centro and stop #2 is near Casita 4. Looking at the resort map there is a bus stop at the convention center in between El Centro and Casita 4. Does the park bus stop at the convention center or skip it?

I think what you are referring to is the Magical Express stop, the park buses don't stop there.

The park buses goto stop 2 first. Stop 1 is actually the last stop.

Thank you so much for the clarification!

After reading this thread my TA was able to change from a standard room to business class for our trip 10/13-10/21! Very excited!!!! My AAA TA didn't even know about BC until I asked her to look into it - crazy!!!!

We've always stayed at AKL and DD12 and DD9 were disappointed to not have bunkbeds but CSR looks amazing, I think they will LOVE the pool and I really like the idea of sending DH and kids to the lounge for a quick breakfast and his coffee before we head out. We are going to be RD'ers for the first time ever so AWESOME SAUCE!!!!

One odd question: Is Coke available in the lounge in the morning? I am not a coffee person, Coke is it for me. I saw in someones pictures of the lounge that Coke was there but I think it was in the evening pics w/beer/wine offerings. Just wondering if DH will have to go elsewhere in the morning to get it for me.
