I'm always that way at first when I get to my room, but it always eventually becomes, "As long as I don't see a palmetto bug on the rug I'm OK."

My bare feet NEVER EVER EVER touch the carpeting in hotels/resorts!! I travel with flip flops I use specifically for that purpose! :rotfl:

DD16 and I have matching pink, cotton terrycloth slippers that are ONLY FOR WDW. They are super-cushioned and at the end of a long park day, its my way of thanking my poor abused feet!

Have booked our trip from the UK for early Dec 2017 and wondered how long the refurb process will take roughly. I know they try to make any disturbance to guests minimal but just wonder how minimal it can be.
This refurb has been put back alot if I remember rightly so hope its not pushed back again too.

We are here now, in 9A, cabanas. We stayed in the casitas last time and I think I prefer them. The resort is pretty empty. We are looking at a parking lot and a few small shrubs. It's not terrible, but with the resort as empty as it is, wish they had given us a garden view. I always pay for water at the mods, but we are here with Pop Warner, so we all had to book standards. I'm surprised by how run down the cabanas area is. The exterior roofing is bad....is it in the process of being replaced? Looks like 8 might have a new roof. The ceiling in our room has a very dark spot from what must have been a leak. The paint on the doors and in the hallways is chipping and our bathroom is pretty bad....looks straight out of the 80s. We were at Pop a few weeks ago and that resort seemed to be in much better shape than CS. Looks straight out of the 80s. With that being said, I still love this resort, I just want to see it the best it can be. The staff has been 5 stars, hands down. Just got back from the pool and it was very nice. Wish us luck, my daughter competes for a national championship in cheer tomorrow!!

We'll be there in the morning :-) It really is time for the refurb, so it's good it is happening. CSR is the only place ready for its regular refurb that I've stayed at WDW or DLR that I thought was terrific even with the usual wear and tear. The CMs really make the place, so very much! Good luck in the championship! One question--were you not allowed to book preferred rooms under the Pop Warner travel package? I didn't know that was the case.

Gotta say, my one stay many years ago at CSR had me saying "Never again!!!", but those pictures *almost* make me want to change my August trip to CSR from AKL...

Hello! Does anyone know if they have put up fences around the lake/pond at CSR? I have tried to searching and cannot find the answer. Thank you! Also, after reading the last few posts, I think I will try and request Casitas? We leave next Tuesday and are staying in a standard room. I am from Texas and the Ranchos look too similar to what I see here.

I just got back and yes there was a rope 'fence' along the water along the beach.

Casitas is a great choice, it will be the first bus stop around the loop for the parks, even if it's listed as Stop #4. Have a great time!

I've been reading almost the whole thread because we will be staying at CSR for the first time. We are DVC but using our points (already booked) for Flower & Garden and Food & Wine Festivals..... and needed a Disney fix for Christmas. In fact, we arrive on Christmas Eve and will enjoy the magic of Disney on Christmas day for the first time. We are staying until New Years Eve.

I am also a Disney Travel agent with Up and Up Travel and have never stayed at CSR so I'm looking forward to it.

I also blog about my preparation and trip planning and usually do a daily trip report on my blog if interested...... https://wordpress.com/posts/wdw4adults.wordpress.com

I like the refurbed rooms but it does lack the southwest themeing. We have family in New Mexico and we visit every year and the room screams "Hyatt" to me but we will see if we like it. We booked a standard view because without the balconies we are used to at BWV or SSR, there's not much sense of paying for a view for us.

We've done the advanced check in and requested ground floor and near transportation so we will see if we get it.

Thank you to everyone that has contributed to this group. Your knowledge and wisdom helps people more than you will ever know.

P.S. Sorry to have to edit this.... my link should be good now.

just curious I was thinking of changing my resort to this one but on the MDE site it shows that for my dates 03/31/2017-04/08/2017 there is no availability, is this normal?

Yes it is normal for resorts to sell out. You've got 2 things working against you for availability. That is Spring Break for a lot of school districts and CSR is going to be going through a room refurb which will take a bunch of rooms out of inventory.

We just got home from a 10 night stay. The room was clean but in need of a renovation. We checked in around lunch time and they were able to place us in a room right away. I had requested upper floor and I wasn't really picky about location. We had only booked a standard view. We were given a water view in Casitas on the top floor and close to the bus stop. I loved the location but the kids preferred Ranchos where we stayed last year. Overall it was a great stay at CSR. We used the pool in the Casitas section every day and it was pretty quiet. The food was good in Pepper Market and we had one the best CM's at Cafe Rix. He was the best CM we have ever spoken to at Disney. He truly loved his job and wanted to make everyone feel special.

CSR is our favorite Moderate and other than the look of the new sliding door (not sure what they were thinking there), I like the new rooms! Disappointed to hear that they may be getting rid of business class though - for us it's always been a great value as we actually spend time in the lounge every day.

Correct me if I am wrong. The Allears site shows that CSR has boats and bike rentals listed and I know that they had gotten rid of them years ago. Are they back or does the site just have really old info?
