We didn't hear the monorail from our room in the North Wing at all. Note that the only way you can view the castle from the wing rooms is if you also have a view of the parking lot. The garden view rooms face the lake. You might have a better chance getting a renovated room in the South Wing though the North Wing is much closer to MK and the food court. We liked having a ground floor room because it has a patio. The upper level wing rooms DO NOT have balconies. We did have to wait a few hours to get into our ground level North Wing room though we checked in early. You might want to plan accordingly, so if the room you want isn't available at checkin you can just go to MK while it is getting ready.

Has there been any new rehab information? I've read the South Wing is closed for refurbishment, then I read the North Wing will be closed... Anyone know where they are working right now? And what will be open or closed 1st week of August?

Been away from the computer for a long time due to work and just now have time to mention what we saw in early Mid-may. We were in a Jr Suite in the north garden wing facing bay lake. Our room number was 7109 and if you look on the map, it is where the building bends. When you enter the room you are faced with a long hallway with a large closet to your left with the safe followed by an adjourning door to room 7110 (where we had family staying as well making it kinda a two bedroom suite), the bathroom door on your right halfway down followed by a sink with the refridge underneath the sink in a black granite cabinet. At the end of the hallway is a dining table with four chairs and the sliding glass door. To the right of the sliding glass door is a long cabinet with tons of counter space, the tv, a dvd player, and a lamp followed by two recliners facing the tv. Across from the cabinet on the opposite wall is a sleeper sofa (again to the right of what we called the dining area when you enter the room against the bathroom wall). There was ample space between the tv and the cabinet so that even when the sleeper sofa is pulled out there was still a good three feet to walk between the two. To the right of the seating area next to the recliners is another sliding glass door (now you can start to imagine how it fits in the corner) and along the back wall facing the tv was the king size bed (shares the wall with 7108) and another bathroom door. The bathroom was HUGE. Large sink sharing the wall with the sleeper sofa with a bathtub shower against the hallway wall and next to the bathtub the toilet had a seperate door for the john as well as a stand alone shower! Heaven for getting us all ready in the morning! There is a limit of three occupants in the Jr Suite, but found it lovely by having the adjoining room making it 4 adults and 4 kids with the two rooms combined (family of five and our family of three).

They were repainting/rewallpapering the walls in the north wing when we were there. Got to see the new rooms on the sixth floor as they were ajar when they were working on them and they look FANTASTIC, I never had a problem with the current decor of the contemp, but what it is going to will be a real treat and I have to say that booking in the future my be a battle over who can phone to CRO the fastest! They remind me of westin rooms, with the woods, marble, and blacks.

Bus transportation was excellant! Never waited more than five minutes to get on a bus (we must time it perfectly) This was our first time though that the monorail seemed less efficient then in the past. Long waits it seemed on several occasions for the monorail to leave the contemp, and then it always seem to chug/jerk out of the station (we also got on a monorail that just came out of the shop, if you want to have a thrill ride without ever going to a theme park, then catch one of the safety checks between the ttc and the contemp. Speed up really fast, slam on brakes. The kids got a huge kick out of it!

That's about it, sorry it is so long, and hopefully I can get pictures of the Jr. Suite if I figure out how to get them on the net.

Anybody recently back from CR?

Did you stay in the tower and were the rooms started (or finished) yet with the rehab?

Love to find this out :flower:

Just changed my Res. from ASmu to the Contemp for the 4th!!! I'm so happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just booked a standard wing room, I don't need nothing fancy, but I do love the Contemp, and just couldn't justify staying anywhere else.

Any odds though that you think I'll get a recently renovated room? For People who just got back how far are they with the renovations in the wings? And will they be the same with the Flat Screen TVS and all as the towers?

Thanks in Advance! 9 Days!

We just got back from the Contemporary and we didn't see any work going on in the Tower yet. We were on the 12th floor. On the first night we did hear a circular saw going in the middle of the night, for about 2 hours, then nothing the rest of our stay. Thank goodness.

Hey everyone!!!

stayed one nite CR tower Concierge and 3 nites tower room

okay...no refurb in tower at all...asked concierge person. don't believe this will happen at all at least until 2006.
okay....starting at check in....

had brand new cm= took quite a while to check in..he was clueless, but sweet. so all in all not too bad...computers down so room keys could not be printed. was told I had MK view YAHOO>>>
went to room..in actuality was a handicapped room (YUCH)
could/would not switch me...had 2 teens with me and really wanted the daybed..
my DH was fine with room becaue view was spectacular. okay, I gave in..not happy but knew it was only one nite...so was okay in end. but quite honestly I hate the showers in these rooms...

room clean, no problems at all, didn't see any wear and tear at all in room..

moving on to next 3 nites in tower.....had to check out and check back in again..got same new (CM) told him no more handicapped rooms.
he got manager and they wanted to p ut me in lakeview 7th floor. I asked for higher floor and got (YES YES YES) 11th floor MK view. :cheer2: :cheer2:

beautiful view,. room extremely clean, loved the convience to MK... had nice time..

I don't know about the 14th floor, but I know when we stayed there last year, the HA room on the 5th floor was a stall, no tub. This didn't work for me either since I have 2 kids... We switched to right next door :)

I'm pretty sure they have a large roll in shower stall, no tub.

What type of bedding do they have in the HA rooms--one king, or two queens? Many HA rooms have just a king, making it easier for a wheelchair to manuver around, but its not enough bedding for my family of four.
