OK just booked May 21 to the 26 in a Queen room on the 14th floor. Ouch... But it will be great. We have stayed on the 12th floor before and liked that but decided to take the leap and since the 14th floor was open we booked it.
Chose the 14th floor over the GF Lodge concierge. Have never stayed at the GF and if they would have had a Main Building Concierge room open it would have been a tough choice. Glad to be visiting our old friend the CR in May :cool1:

Congrats! We had a wonderful stay there last Sept. It is wonderful sitting in the lounge watching the fireworks.

Does anyone have really good pics of the Contemporary? Rooms. grounds and ammenities?

Thanks

We are looking forward to our trip and I am already starting to pack. :cool1:

My parents are joining us and they are driving in from about an hour away. DH and I are flying in. He still thinks we are staying at the Pop Century. I upgraded our ressies and I am going to keep it a surprise until we arrive. I hope! :flower:

I have been trying to get through all the posts in this thread but many of them are older and I think out dated. So I willjust ask here. :earsgirl:

When booking our reservations I asked what was in the wing rooms. The tower was already booked so we are in the wings. I was told that all rooms had a refrigerator, coffee maker, and hair dryer. Is this true? I have heard that you only get 2 coffee packets for the entire stay? That just seems so wrong! I have also heard that the provided coffee mugs are stryofoam? There is no way DH will like that and also no way I am packing ceramic mugs in our suitcases!

I need verification of what I was told. Can anyone help us?

Also my mom is handicapped and she will need a wheelchair at times. I understand that the resort has some so we are hoping to us one of those.

Are there any rooms or areas to ask for when we check in or do we request rooms before we get there? We need nonsmoking and my Dad says he wants a MK view. So what rooms do you recommend and which wing?

I can't wait to get there! :flower:

I will answer some of your questions.
There is a refridgerator in the rooms. We had rooms 7278 & 7279 in the north wing. We did not have a coffee maker, but I guess you can request one. There were some glass type mugs you could probably use for coffee.

Our rooms were on the 2nd floor, overlooking the parking lot, with a view of the castle and wishes. If I requested one of these rooms, it would be 7279. 7278 was partially blocked by a tree, a drawer was hard to close and the toilet was hard to flush. The rooms below us have a patio, which you may enjoy better. I don't have my map, so I'm not sure of the room #'s, but they may be 7179? These were nonsmoking rooms.

Have a great trip. I'm Jealous!!

Hey thanks! I am so excited to be going! :cool1:

We are going with my parents and Ijust want things to be perfect! I will definately need a coffe maker so I guess we willhave to request one.

Thanks for the room information. I don't care where we are but my father has some pretty set ideas! :rotfl:

I called this morning to check on our reservation and I added a North wing request. I asked if the AP rate would be any less than the FL resident rate and for the time period we are going the rates are the same.

They told me that as of Jan 2005 all deluxe rooms and up had refrigerators. Not sure what that means but our room has a frig! Our room is also suppose to have a coffee maker and coffee for every day! It will be interesting to see if that happens!

They said we would get two queen beds or a queen and a day bed. I told her that I really do not want a day bed! She said most get the two queens!

So bit by bit everything is falling into place!

I AM SO EXCITED I CAN BARELY THINK STRAIGHT!!!

I recently upgraded from CBR to CR standard wing using my AP code. At first, I thought I would regret it (I was so looking forward to the theming at CBR,) and almost called back to change my ressie....

...but now that I have read about CR and poured and poured over every picture I can find (which really personify the whimsy of Mickey and WDW,)...I am jumping out of my skin to get to stay here!!!!! And last night when I was going over my itinerary and actually SAW how easy it's going to be to jump on over to MK, Poly, GF (we have PS's at both of these) and Epcot too, for that matter...I KNOW that I have made the right decision!!! (Thanks for letting me go on and on about this. My DH has just about had it with all the "Disney this, Disney that" talk!) :rotfl:

So here are my questions:

1) I'm in the wings and have requested North with a MK view. Do you know which floor would be better? I know the ground floor has a patio, but would I have a better "view" of things if I were higher up? If I could only have one request granted, which is better... view of MK or patio?

2) I read somewhere that they have added a "toddler" pool close to North wing. True? If so, is it nice? Would my 4 year-old enjoy it?

Thanks everyone for ALL of you help!!! :earsgirl:

Congrats! You'll really enjoy yourself at the CR!
1 - We had a 2nd floor room & could see the FW just fine. I really don't think it matters what floor as there are only 3.

2 - No, they filled in the kiddie pool years ago. It's now one of the playgrounds by the North wing. I don't know why they did that. I think it is the only resort (deluxe) with no kiddie pool or zero entry. It's the one drawback about staying here with a small child who can't swim. There are pop jets, but the "thrill" only lasts so long.....

If I dont want to have to walk a lot and I am staying in a wing room- what kind of request do I make? Is the MK walking trail on the far end of the North Wing?

I don't think I will mind what view I get- Bay Lake, or a glimpse of Cinderella's castle both sound good to me and I have read that too many requests can upset the CM- so I want to focus on whats most important.

Also - My DH said the Monorail travels AWAY from MK, so its like a 20 min trip to MK from the CR- is this true??

Thanks!
Also- whats breakfast like at the Concourse?

The walking path is right past the north wing parking lot, maybe a five-seven minute walk for us back in December from our room (and we were closer to the tower). It is definitely your fastest way back after MK park closing, remember that.
The monorail does travel away from MK, making stops at TTC, Poly, GF then MK. We always walked to MK, but the monorail was great for getting to TTC to get to Epcot.
If I'm not mistaken, there is also a boat that goes from MK to CR to WL then FW.

after many, many hours of deciding what resort to go to this year,,,I have finally decided on CR...in the past have not wanted to go because I really wasn't into the theming ....but everyone here on these boards have majorily hyped me up about this resort and I am quite happy about my decision

well for one nite we will be in concierge 14th floor...(DH 50th birthday present) and the balance will be CR tower room

My question is???? is MK view that much better than a lake view and if so,,

how high should you be to enjoy the MK view.... and can you really do all that requesting..

I put a request in for MK view but am rethinking...

is bay view just as beautiful????

okay CR experts....

your opinion please??

Sooo....requesting being closer to the MK path isn't really the way to go?
Better to be close to tower/monorail/shops/restaurant?
What kind of time would I save being near path vs near tower? Is there a difference- is everything far away in Wing.

Also- I never hear anyone mention the South Wing- What happens if I get stuck over there? Has anyone stayed there?

I hope Im not asking too many questions, but since I have not familiarity with this resort I love tips from DISers.
I have walked from MK to CR before- but dont remember a swell path- I recall crossing a busy road and over an island in middle of road- no real "path" there.

www.allearsnet.com has a nice slide show- we have a Viao computer hooked up to our 65" TV- so we really enjoyed viewing the pics that way.

Try sweet

sweet spelled like a room you stay in though.

Oops! Link did not work - took me to the sign in page.

Wondering if anyone has any info on the refurb timeline? Has it started yet and when is it due to be completed? Which area/wing/tower will be done first? Any one ehard what the new look will be?

Thinking of returning to CR after many years away, but am hoping some of the refurb will be done.

Thanks much!!!:flower:

To be honest, there isn't much of a difference in walk time between staying on the MK end or tower end of the north wing. There are a few exits from the wing into the parking lot, so there's always a close hallway to where you need to be. But besides MK, I think the best end of the north wing is closest to the tower, as the tower houses the monorail, shops and restaurants and the bus stops are on the north side of the tower also.
I'm not too sure on the south wing, maybe someone else can help you there. Its equally as convenient as the north, as far as the tower and boat dock, but a bit further for buses and MK.
The path for MK, to answer your other question, does cross a busy intersection, but there is a pedestrian walkway. I don't think the path is really defined until you get past that, then it becomes paved with MK bricks.

Is there a floor or area in the tower where you don't want your room to be, for instance, are there rooms above Chef Mickey's, if so, is it loud in those rooms?

I am familiar with the noisy rooms at WL that are above the lobby and restaurant. Some people reported they heard lattering all day and night. Are there rooms like this at CR in the tower that should be avoided?
