Hi you guys. I have a reservation for the tower club from 11/27 thru 11/30. I called today on a whim and the 14th floor MK view suite is available for my dates!!!! I am thrilled and suffering at the same time. I am torn!!! It will be about a $2K price difference, but I am dying to try the 14th floor. I have three kids so we are not allowed the regular14th floor rooms, that's why the suite. We will be staying GF RPC for 4 nights before the CR check in and now I just want to be spoiled the whole trip. (what a brat, I know)
Do you think it would be worth the extra $$$?? I just don't know. I have had this same room held before and then changed because I just don't want to pay that price and be regretting it.
I love the CR. It is my kids' favorite resort, too. I am just not sure....
What to do? I have until 5 pm tomorrow to pay a deposit. HELP!!!!
I need to hear some FABULOUS things about the 14th floor!!!!! PLEASE!!!:earsgirl:

Was just wondering what you had decided. I'd say, "Go for it!", because I don't think that the Club level is worth the extra $ (stayed there 1 night last month), but if you would be able to actually eat full meals & save $$$ that way (lost time back & forth from parks, but would kids & you need breaks anyway?) Are your 3 children young & wouldn't eat much? Or...are they growing wildly & looking for lots of food (AND room in the suite!) to satisfy them??

Oh, to be pampered with the royal treatment! But only you know your family's needs & budget.

I'll be at the CR in two more days!!! (11/13). I am so excited. This was the place we satyed in the 70s when I was a kid; now I get to bring MY two girls here also. I'm so excited I could explode.

I should be checking in around 10:00a on Sat. staying in a standard wing room. Is there anything people want me to look for?

Gaiusrex,

I'm excited for you!!! Hope you have the BEST vacation ever. I hear this is a great time to visit because crowds are low and temps are perfect.

We are going down for a short trip Dec. 8 - 12 and will be staying in the CR wing too! It's our first stay at the CR and we're really excited. The Christmas season is such a great time to be at WDW.We are cramming as much as we can into 4 days!

How long will you be staying? Please post or e-mail me when you get back and tell me how you liked it.

Kimberle, thanks for the encouragement!!:D I did see BambiTamby's info - between the two of you that is what put the bug in my head about trying the 14th floor! It looks wonderful.

Disneymom23boys, thanks for the "go for it"!!! That's my way of thinking!!:earsgirl: We have stayed tower club MANY times in the past. I love the MK view - I can never forget where I am and lose that magic when I am there. The staff is also very nice and helpful, too. It just doesn't thrill me anymore. Maybe the rooms are getting a bit shabby?? I don't know....Don't flame me - I LOVE that place, just been there too many times, maybe. It is my family's all time favorite resort. It was always worth it to us to stay tower club just for the convenience of breakfast in our room and sometimes the snacks in the afternoon if we made it back. The Cms could get us almost any reservation at any restaurant. We put it in their hands and didn't worry about it. My kids love Chef Mickey's and my son, especially, enjoys the arcade. I have three kids two girls 4, and 8 and a 14 yr old son. They are excited about trying the 14th , too. No one more than me, though.

I am going to do it. I am nuts - that's the only excuse. Not only that, but I have been trying to add days (1 or 2) to check in earlier (no luck yet) because I have just seen people bashing the GF RPC Cms again lately. I think we will take advantage of the food/drinks and having the nice room to hang out in just incase it is pretty crowded at the parks. (crossing my fingers it's not too bad)

Kimberle - I read on someones post - maybe yours - about the balconies being pretty unusable because of bird droppings. I am counting on using the balcony for that fabulous view. What do you think? We have MK view. Do you think we will be able to use the balcony??

Well, thanks for the responses. I appreciate the encouragement!! My husband thinks I have lost it - but he's not the most enthusiastic guy about WDW anyway. He will LOVE it when he's there, though.

Channing

Oh, also for the poster that is wondering about MK view in the tower. We have been there over 20 times - ALWAYS got our MK view!! Some people just don't even know to request it or know that they can. Good luck - you will love the place.

:earsgirl:

I think I'll try to photograph (and maybe video) the walk from CR to MK. I've seen some pics of the walkway, but I still don't have a feel for how far it really is. 5 minutes for someone is 15 minutes for someone else.

Now if I could just remember all the stuff I'm forgetting to pack.

Gaiusrex,

We are going Dec. 6-11th, staying in the wings. I'm curious to know the conditions and how the locations are. Please post a report when you return. Thanks and have a great trip. Wish we were leaving already.

Lives4Disney.....GO FOR IT and don't look back!
You'll love it! The CR's 14th floor is WDW's most "exclusive" CL.
Just fabulous!

Now, we were on the MK side and didn't have a problem with the bird droppings...hmmm.
Someone had mentioned on another thread to tie a balloon on the balcony to keep the birds away.

Have a wonderful time!
Can not wait to return there! Can't get a suite on the dates for our summer LL meet.
Not YET!!!;) :p

What is the difference between a standard and a garden wing? I've got a ressie for the north wing garden with guaranteed connecting rooms. I tried to find out from the CM who helped me make the ressie where the connecting rooms are located but she really couldn't tell me. Does anyone know where these are located in the N Wing? Also, what view should I request. They asked me but I didn't know what the views were.

Quest. #2 - Do you know what activities CR has planned for Dec. 24 & 25th? Will Santa or Characters dressed in Christmas gear come and visit the resort? Any special activities for the kids for cookie decorating for Santa? etc...

Thanks for all your advice and help!!!! It's our first time at the CR!!!! My DD can't wait to get there..she's always wanted to stay there.

Thanks!
Steph.

.Yes, I'd love to know those answers too! I too have a garden room in the north wing 19-26 Dec. How would we find out about santa possibly visiting? my 7 year old would be thrilled! He's worried he won't find him at Disney.

Robyn :)

The standard rooms are the ones at the top of the "T" formed by the wings, the ones which over look the parking lot and are closest to the Tower. I've heard that you can see the castle from some of them. The garden rooms are the ones more in the "I" of the T shape, in the middle. We had a garden room on our 1st CR stay. We were in the north wing, about 1/2 way down, on the MK side. It was a pretty view and we could see the fireworks from our window. If they were available, I wouldn't hesitate taking a standard view.

I don't know about Santa. I think I remember seen a post on Santa. Maybe if you try the search feature.

Enjoy your stay!

Thanks for all the "go for its"!! I am getting so excited to try the 14th floor - and a suite at that!! I know the extra space will be wonderful.

BambiTamby, I will definitely try the balloon trick on the balcony. With that view I want to be able to sit outside and enjoy it in the evenings.

I have only about a week + to go!! Actually two weeks from tomorrow til the CR. GF on 11/23!! (First stay at that resort)

For all you going at Christmas, have a wonderful time!! I think the CR is magical. I want to do it for Christmas in 2005(maybe- I have two younger ones that still enjoy a home Christmas). I would love to hear how it goes, and if you have littler ones, how do you work the Santa, presents, tree, etc....

Thanks much!
Channing:earsgirl:

You have a wonderful stay there and a magical time!

Also...you are paying top-dollar....if there is anything wrong, including the bird-droppings, I wouldn't hestitate to ask them to have it cleaned up!

I started thinking that everyone who reads this will have balloons tie on their balconies!
What a site the tower would be! LOL!:rotfl:

Do the wing rooms have irons in them or do I need to pack a travel iron? Just thinking if I have to pack for warm and cold weather clothes thats a lot and it will be wrinkled.

Also, are the hairdryers the really small ones that take forever to dry your hair? Thanks for your replies.

The hairdryers are the typical wall mounted hotel hairdryers. I always bring my own, so I don't know how powerful they are.

All rooms have irons & boards.

Bring your own hair dryer unless your hair dries fast. Instead of a travel iron, have you tried Downy Wrinkle Release? You just spray it on, and smooth out the wrinkles! Much easier, faster and safer than irons!

Thanks Kimberle and alloyd1170. I think I will get some of the wrinkle and release. I really hate to iron. I'll definately bring my own hairdryer. You guys are great. THanks for the info.

Wow..wow...WOW!! Just had to jump in here and share my excitement. This morning I got CR 14th Floor Concierge for 12/30 and 12/31! Do you believe it!? I am in shock! :earseek: I have been calling and calling for the last month and a half. We got a king room (code CW). Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I read that the king rooms are on the king-dom side (bad pun but I'm still silly happy). Is that correct? I've got some re-tweeking of our PS's to do now that we will be able to have light breakfasts and late night desserts in the Lounge. And from what I'm told (we've never been to CR let alone 14th Floor) the view is spectacular! MAN-O-MAN, Lives4Disney, you must be spreading the magic 'cause I never thought I'd get it!!! :sunny:

Dizz42 - YAY!!!:bounce: Good for you!!! I am happy you got so lucky! I felt like I won the lottery when I found out it was available, so I understand your excitement! I leave on Tues 11/23 (first to GF - never stayed there before - then on to 14th floor for 3 nights)

I sure hope it lives up to what has been mentioned on the boards!! I will be thrilled with the view, I know!

Hope you have a great stay! I will let you know how mine was when we return.

ONE MORE DAY!!!!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

:earsgirl:

I felt like I won the lottery
Too funny! You are sooooo right! DH got up out of bed 'cause he heard me on the phone practically yelling, "You're kidding me, aren't you?....Are you serious!?...Oh.......my.......gawd......" etc., etc.! That poor CM!

Yes, please do let me know about GF too. We had it booked for awhile before we decided to extend our stay and go for the CR 14th Floor.

You and your family have a safe, MAGICAL trip and hope to hear from you when you get back!

Just back from an 11/13-11/20 stay in a standard wing in the South Building. I requested North, but I think they were full from all the Veterans Day and Super Soapers. It really didn't matter. I was on the third floor over looking a nice grassy area and the pool.

The room was in great shape. It was nice and big. Housekeeping came early and was very good the entire trip. It took less than five minutes to walk from the room to the Tower. The convenience of this place is the main draw for me. In the evening, while everyone is fighting for a bus or monorail, we just had a leisurly walk back from MK.

I think the theming of the hotel is the most "Disney-like" of all the resorts.
