Hi-
Just wanted to share my true excitement with prople who will appreciate it! :cool1:
I just booked the CR Tower Magic Kingdom View for myself, my twin sister and our mom for February 3-9, 2008. My sister and I will be celebrating our birthday in February and we just decided today to go to WDW! :cloud9: I haven't stayed at the CR since our very first trip in 1988. How exciting! Now I have to read up on everything Contemporary to get ready.
Congragulations and I hope you're stay is amazing. :thumbsup2

Mollygirl, we're there Feb 2-9 with a MK view too. If you see triplets running around the CR, that's us! Happy Birthday!

Are there any CR decorations pics up anywhere?
Any from this year??

I'm at the CR now and the decorations are very minimal. There are few trees up in the lobby and garlands at the front desk. The big icon tree is up in front of the tower. There are some decorations at Concourse Steakhouse & Chef Mickey's and some on the 2nd floor. They have the Pinocchio gingerbread display up on the 4th floor, near the elevator instead of the 1st floor where it usually it. I made a big mistake and did not bring my digital camera so I will not be able to post any pics from this year's trip. They are still working on the refurb of the lobby which is most likely why the decorations are so sparse this year.

We have a 1/2 gallon of milk, a box from chef mickeys, a styrofoam tray from outback, 5 bottles of water, 3 gatorade, 4 cokes and 2 16oz Heinekins in the fridge....you could put 5 1/2 gallons of milk in there and still have room on the bottom shelf in the door and in the little freezer compartment up top! The fridge is dorm sized,,,,very nice sized for our week here..

Nikolasmor,
Thank you so much for responding. You have a wonderful trip. We will be there on Friday. I am ready to live in another world for a few days.

Hi, Tete....they do a chocolate monorail. VERY neat & goes w/the CR theme.

During our Thanksgiving trip I saw some beautiful Disney Xmas stockings being delivered to a room - they were from the WDW florist and much nicer in person than the pics online. I tucked that away for my own future use.;)

Happy planning,

Lives4Disney :)

How much is the monorail and how do I go about getting one for our trip in 14 days 2 hours and 22 minutes? I would love to surprise my mom.

Suzanne princess:

It's $45 or so plus delivery and tip. Call the Private Dining number for the CR to order. Call no more than 2 weeks ahead of time, or they'll lose the order.

Thanks for the live update. :thumbsup2

It's also good see they brought back the Pinocchio gingerbread display, because I don't remember seeing it last year and the weird thing is at that time there was no lobby renovations going on.

When I first read this, I thought you were asking how much it cost to ride the monorail, and then you asked how you go about getting one, I was like, well good luck... :rotfl:

We were at CR for NYE and Jan 07. Pinocchio and Gepetto were in the lobby as they were the year before. Are you talking about something else?

Maybe they put it up after Christams, because last year we checked out on Christmas Day. However before then I can say that it was not in the lobby.

Wow, we must be talking about two different things. We were at the CR for the last two January's. Last year over NYE and the previous year right after NYD. Both times in the lobby, were Pinocchio and Gepetto made of sugar, flour, cinnamon, etc. They were to the right of Walt's statue. Is there something else that we missed?:confused3

If you're staying at the CR, you can order one from room service, its listed on the private dining menu. It's $40 plus the 18% service charge and $3 delivery fee.

Chocolate Monorail - one of our disney icons done in white chocolate

CR Fan: You're not correct on this. I stayed at the CR the first week of December last year and the Pinocchio display was up in the first floor lobby just to the right of the scorcerer mickey statue was . I have some pics which I posted of it somewhere on the board.

Addition: I found the thread I posted last year that has pics of the display: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1287604&page=3&highlight=live+from+contemporary

It's the same one. It was up last year becasue I saw it during my early December vacation in '06. This year they have it up on the 4th floor, right next to elevator shaft. They are still working on the lobby, I had hoped it would be finsihed before I leave Sunday but it doesn't look like its going to happen.

I attended a wedding reception in the California Grill on December 18th last year, and it was there in the lobby. I sat near it for 45 minutes while waiting for transport to the wedding pavillion for the wedding and DH and I were overpowered by the smell of gingerbread!

I think I took pictures of it, I'll see if I can find them.

Suzanne

Yeah, we were there last year, the first weekend in December, for the parade taping. We visited all the resorts to take pictures of all the decorations, and the Pinocchio display was definitely up then.

A couple questions
1. Anyone know if they shut the waterslide down by the pool during the "winter season" or is it more of a day by day thing?
2. Anyone have a pic of the private dining menu for other choices (choc. covered strawberries for my DW)?
On a very happy note.....
We are headed back to the CR after spending a great week their in October.
My b-day and our 9 yr. anniversary are both in Dec.:woohoo:
Just booked a week in Dec. '08.

Merry Christmas everyone!!
:santa:

How about in two weeks when we get there?

It looked like this morning that there're just about finsished with the ceiling. They still have a large area to install carpert or tile. You would think that they would like to have it done before Christmas.
