Hi everyone, just back from our first stay at the CR, Nov. 25-Dec. 1. We LOVED this resort! I requested a room on the MK side, as high as possible and was hoping for an odd-numbered room so the beds faced the MK. We got 6th floor directly over Chef Mickey's, and an even number (4232). I never complain when I don't get requests, because usually it is no big deal, and that was exactly the case! The MK view was awesome and we had absolutely no issues with noise from Chef Mickeys. There were MVMCPs almost every night of our stay (which I think is very annoying, but that is a whole other subject), but it was nice to watch the fireworks from our balcony while the kids were sleeping on the nights were were in early.
I thought the rooms were beautiful and ours was clean. The first day we came back for a rest (3 kids ages 3, 5, 7) at 3:30 and they were cleaning our room which I thought was way too late. After that I called housekeeping and requested service by 12:00 for the remainder of our stay, and they kept to it. The sinks are definitely not practical, but I didn't really have issues with lack of counter space because there is a shelf the whole length of the sink where we kept our stuff. I read about the lack of clothes storage so I brought wire hangers for my stuff and my DH's stuff, and we put our socks/underwear/shorts in the drawers in the closet. Put our kids' clothes in the drawers next to the bed and put a big suitcase in the toilet room which we used as a hamper for the dirty stuff every day. This worked great and everything stayed neat and out of the way.
To those who asked, you can use counter service credits at the Sand Bar. The Tempo Grab and Go is very limited, the pool service is much better. At one point when we were in the pool, some ducks got in, but overall we didn't see any big issues with ducks/birds at the pool. The CM lifeguards were so nice, and when my 5 year old wanted to go on the slide (he can swim) but panicked when he got to the top, the very nice lifeguard turned the water off so it wasn't rushing as fast and let him go down slowly so he would not be scared. I thought that was so nice and he went down about 100 times more at full speed after that.
This is definitely our favorite resort now and I think this will be our regular now. With 5 people we don't have tons of options, but I liked this so much better than the Poly, and personally, the GF leaves me cold. Thanks to all of the regulars who post on this thread, I got so much helpful information over the past several months!
The new gift shop looks cute, and on our last day when we came down they had built a cool monorail/contemporary tower using the playsets they sell at the entrance. My son loved that.
